- From the days when TV stations went off the air overnight, here's the nightly sign-off from WLBT-Channel 3 in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1989. Bert Case narrates the sign-off message, followed by the Star-Spangled Banner over scenes of Mississippi.
RIP Bert Case...we all still love you!!
Personally,I'd like to see the signoffs for WAPT 16 that aired during 1984-85 that featured the old "Hello Jackson, Channel 16 loves you" jingle.
Also I wish someone had the old WJTV 12 station ID's that featured Bob James' song "Nightcrawler" as the bumper music. That aired during the late 1970's early 80's.
I like this SSB version!
What happened after the ssb. Did they go to a test pattern or cut carrier. Do you have any other ms tv station signoffs or other jackson ms signoffs like WAPT, WJTV, and WDBD. Also, at least 3 other ms tv stations used that ssb. 2 of them in my area of gulfport ms. WLOX TV 13 sometimes used this. WXXV Fox 25 used this. And WDAM TV 7 laurel hattiesburg used this.
A very nice Banner; I assume it was a local band playing it, and appearing in the clips?
Was that a subtle "Mississippi Burning" shot at 1:03? It certainly came to mind.
One of the most beautiful versions of the SSB!!! ✌✌😁🥰
I remember my dad used to do the sign off for them. Can't remember if it was before or after Burt did them
Ironically Burt kace was a news ankerr at WJTV. He broake on to the air back in 1966 because of an f 5 tornado hitting the candle stick park shopping center.
That "eep" you hear is the sound of an American Woodcock. Lovely bird.
And a very nice bit.

WHERE ARE THE LOCAL COMMERCIALS LIKE PRIME TIME RENTALS, ETC.????
