Spent coffee grinds makes a good compost. So your not doing anything wrong sir. Just letting natural decomposition happen. Don’t let them get you down. Your still one of the best go to people in RUclips. En doon let’em dhink ifferently 😂 lol
A fun watch (even if the crows were annoyed)! In our book, an outdoor adventure of any sort almost seems incomplete without coffee along the way. The extra effort to steam and froth milk is well worth the trouble. Such traditions on the trail help to stop time and allow one to better savour the moment. It’s great that you are back - RUclips wasn’t quite RUclips without you! Be well & Cheers from 🇨🇦!
The fellows prismo attachment for the aeropress is also a great espresso maker. Hard to beat the versatility of the aeropress. With the added accessories it's even better.
I've stopped pretending it's espresso because even that nozzle has a filter that loses the crema, but agree, it's the best strong coffee maker that's light enough to pack.
That shirt is awesome Ernie. I think I am going to buy one of those . They look pretty cool and seem to do a good job . I'm not one of those that can drink black coffee . I kinda like a little Coffee with my Creamer. Lol 😆 people who complain about the grounds should think about why they are goid for our gardens !!! Great informative video as always Ernie!! Take care and stay safe my friend!
Thank You! I travel everywhere with my Wacaco Nanopresso kit with Nespresso pod adapter as well as fresh ground for exquisite shots of both espresso and double espressos. I get harassed by my buddies all the time but then again, they drink those 3 in 1s which contain nearly zero coffee… so I take the criticism from where it comes, with a chuckle. Keep up with this series and you should do a full length “barista in the woods” vid! Or perhaps a full list of how to make great tasting coffee many different ways!
Hmm, this sounds good on an Elk, Muley hunt up in the mountains! I can just hear what the rest of hunting party says now as you take a break and whip up a hot Latte on a cold and/or snowey, windy day! Jealousy be dammed! LOL 😛💥👍
Love your channel, great videos, and this one is one of the best! Something very therapeutic about stopping and taking time to make a brew whilst out in nature. I do this loads whilst out cycling as it forces me to stop......annnnddddd relax......I do use an Aeropress though
I had two strokes in the past two year (age 52&54). Since my strokes I no longer drink caffeine. As much as I’d like a great latte on the trail a decaf latte seems silly. But great video.
On a day trip, I’ve never felt the need to clean out a moka pot on the trail :). Just make sure you’ve got the liquid out and leave the cake of grounds till you get home.
Great Video Ernie,,, You listed all the gear but the “Frothing “ device,,, looked like it said Golde,,??? Could you please a link for that item. Great to have You back,,, Joshua
Wait a minute ... We can put coffee grounds in our compost or gardens, but we can't leave them at the base of a tree or bury them along side of the trail? I think complainers will always be complainers.
Apparently “leave no trace” isn’t understood by many, and more importantly WHY leave no trace is important to preserve our natural areas. Please do a video on this subject.
Been doing it for months with picopresso. Much smaller, lighter, no batteries needed. True metal basket, beautiful extraction with naked filter. Absolute TOP give it a go and you will never take this huge white thing with you.
i dont understand... if its compostable, why would you pack it out? i mean, obviously dont just dump it out, but cant you just put it in your cathole when youre done with your morning coffee?
Your not adding an impure substance from tea leaves or coffee grounds, here take NOTE: Coffee grounds and tea leaves are a great source of nutrients for the vegetation whether in a garden or woodland scenario! Tea Leaves - When you incorporate tea leaves into your garden soil, they release nitrogen naturally which helps balance out any carbon-rich materials that may already be present. Reusing tea leaves also helps you improve drainage and adds to soil structure. Coffee grounds - The benefit of using coffee grounds as a fertilizer is that it adds organic material to the soil, which improves drainage, water retention, and aeration in the soil. The used coffee grounds will also help microorganisms beneficial to plant growth thrive as well as attract earthworms. So in saying that I would not pay any attention to the comments that say you must take it out, they don't know what they are talking about! You remove the tea leaves from the bag and dump it onto the ground and take the bag out as garbage. You dump out the coffee grounds onto the ground and take the paper filter out as garbage. Your not adding contaminants, your adding nutrients to the soil! and HELPING Mother Nature rebuild and replenish it's growth!
Muriatic acid is from the environment. There's even places it boils up out of the ground. Doesn't mean it's good for a forest. The best rule for keeping a forest healthy is pack it in pack it out. Leave no trace you were even there.

The few times that I've tried cappuccino and latte they fell short. The process takes from the coffee the parts that I like best. The result is too mild.

Way to go Doc, you the man.... mmmmm trail latte, can’t go wrong with a coffee obsessed hiker, thank you!
Wow that makes me miss the woods -outside +, a walk + cup a joe = perfection
glad to have you back doc!

Great looking coffee right there! Worth the time to stop and make something decent 😁🙋♀️☕️
Have a great day , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Love our Ultimate series videos! (and I wish you weren't kidding about the barista series! Ha!) Yes, the crows did sound frustrated! Thanks and ATB

Great video, thanks.
I see Soto in a thumbnail and I click to see. I only have the one stove, but it's that good I have a generic interest in the brand now...

My bad,,, I see it at the bottom,,, Great Video 👍
I just bought a Hike Crew stove this morning. Wanted an easy way to boil water FAST. In the feild and at the tiny trailer...might have to try this.
Cool shirt!

Lol. First to like! Yea!
I always throw my coffee grounds in the garden. Someone must be an over zealous tree hugger!
You know that even when your in the wilderness there is still a Starbucks just around the corner. 😁
By the way, the squirrels and rabbits like a little Joe too.

Doc, this was a great video, but I'm disappointed. Why aren't you going to make a PaleoHikerMD barista series?
Been doing it for months with picopresso. Much smaller, lighter, no batteries needed. True metal basket, beautiful extraction with naked filter. Absolute TOP give it a go and you will never take this huge white thing with you.
Dark roast coffee has less caffeine than light roast. It is stronger in the burnt taste category.

No.
Leave no grace. Too much of a good thing is bad.
You should always add the milk to shot not the shot to the milk. Many Italian would turn in their grave.
Coffee grounds are bad for the environment? Didn’t they come from the environment?

Yes, but not that environment, leave no trace, even coffee grounds

😂😂😂
I buy one at a shop and put a lid on it to carry it around and never even notice the foam. I don’t think it’s worth carrying the foam toy hiking.
Ridiculous but shut up and take my money 💰😎
What is eXpresso?? 😂
It’s a faster grind of coffee.
That muaic ia terrible and way too loud.
