As a percussionist I don't think a lot of people notice or understand the beat patterns he does. He approaches bars like a rhythm section does time signatures

True enough. The structure and concepts can be learned. But, Em does things that are a part of his DNA. Unique to him. Can't be taught. His syncopation is all coming from somewhere beyond. He's like Picasso or Van Gogh. It's a gift.
