Rauf Lala was the boss of Mumbai and the gang technically belongs to him. So, killing the boss in front of everyone also makes Vijay the traitor within the gang and rises the danger of him facing retribution from the gang. Vijay knew that and wanted to avoid that at first. Till Rauf Lala kept talking about the sister and Vijay lost it and killed him.
I thought no matter how evil he was Vijay consider him as his father that why he was hesitant to kill him until the point rauf said the most disgusting thing

Rishi Kapoor's Rauf Lala is one of the best villainous acts ever in Bollywood. He evokes disgust and menace like no other. This, coming from essentially a life-long romantic hero experience.

Vijay's relationship with Rauf Lala is very realistic. As much as he is disgusted by his activities, the man practically raised him. Also, Vijay has a bigger goal, killing Kancha. He needed Rauf Lala's backing to make it happen. Until Rauf Lala forced his hand that is. There is no black and white.

He left Rauf Lala always because he considered him to be a father figure. He definitely used him to grab power for his larger objective for which getting Mumbai first was important. Now u have this situation where u want Mumbai but also as a matter of respect, since he was treated as a kid by Lala, not kill Lala if possible. Vijay was always trying to find a balance there though a bit tilted. U can see this as an India thing. It is believe u me

8:02 Yes. The Blocking was central to show they're on the same level. Also, to signify/emphasize whom the audience should empathize with, Kancha (Villain) holds the phone receiver to the left of the frame, while Vijay (Hero) holds it to the right.
Just explaining in brief. Ravan is a very important character of our epic Ramayana. He was evil and his kingdom was Lanka . So the reference was used in the scene when Sanjay Dutt said "You've asked Ravan for his Lanka."

Hrithik Character Always Consider Rauf Lala as a Father Figure Thats Why he Always Avoided Killing Him Until it Reached The End Point
9:37 - They kept that execution scene ambiguous, so anyone can have any interpretation of it. Mine is that during the early parts of the movie, when the time jumps to "15 years later", the character of Gaitonde says that Kancha runs Mandwa like Hitler's concentration camps. Therefore, I believe that this is something he does on regular intervals just to show and maintain his power over the Mandwa people, just like Hitler used to do with the gas chambers. This is the closest reason I can think of why Kancha does that.
No, this is the same guy who tried to save his father at start while whole village was going rage against him. So maybe all this years he tried being silence but when he spoke against kancha. Kancha hanged him.

Anyday bro.. yes amitabh bachchans agneepath was also very good, Mithuns character, Danny's kancha version all were great but this movie just blew my mind i get goosebumps and emotional every time I watch this one.. Hrithik, Sanjay dutt and even rishi Kapoor were just outstanding and gave a performance of a lifetime.. for me it's one of those rarest of rarest cases where a remake in bollywood has been done way better then the original (again only my personal opinion)

He was hesitant to kill rishi kapoor because he was like a father figure to him. And because he took vijay when he was a little kid and had nothing. One more reason is he looked to the other son of rauf lala as his brother and didn’t want him to lose everyone and also he didn’t want him to see like someone who killed his father but at the end rauf lala provokes him knowingly that he will kill him
He considered Rauf Lala a father figure who kinda sorta helped him and that's why it took his sister's honour and life for him to be able to kill him.
I think Rauf was like a father to Vijay. He even calls him abba jaan before hitting his hand to free his sister. So that's why he was hesitant to kill him.

The reason why Vijay doesn't kill Lala( The Bad Guy) right away is because, he wants him to suffer before he dies( that's why he strangles him under water)
And, also he wants the people to know that HE killed Lala.

the actual poet of this poem is the Amitabh Bachan's father, late Harivansh Rai Bachan. to motivate the freedom fighters during the freedom struggle of India against the British Raj.
Even though the movie was a superhit it didn’t become a blockbuster or ATBB, may be because people didn’t like the sad ending. Had this released now it would have grossed more than 800cr WW

After this AGNEEPATH watch the original one, stsrring AMIITABH BACHHAN.and please watch KHILADI movie of Akshay kumar, if possible watch all of his KHILADI movie series filled with practical stunts and action by Akshay himself..You will love the stunts done by Akki in his yound days...first 4 Khiladi are the best...please do watch 90s Action Hero Akshay, most know him as Comedy Hero niw, but he was in his own league in 90s...

Rauf Lala selling off Vijay's sister & subsequently getting killed! This scene alone made Lala an equally evil villain as Kancha! This also elevated Rishi Kapoor as an actor! Let me repeat... every time when you introduce Steph you need to say "What up bruh?".

In hindu context, the holy story named "Ramayan" which is the story of lord "Ram" the 7th incarnation of lord Vishnu and "Ravaan" who was a monster and also the king of "Lanka" (present day Srilanka).
Hence, Sanjay Dutt said that line referring to him as Raavan and Mandva as Lanka.. so the line goes "you're asking for Lanka (Maandva) from Ravaan? (Him/Kaancha)
Rawan is the demon king of Lanka island in Ramayana.
That was the regerence by kancha because he was as a king of Mandwa island.

So that reference "Asked Ravan for his Lanka" comes from Ramayan which is one the most famous and spiritually monumental hindu epic around Lord Ram. Ravaan is the main antagonist in the story and his kingdom was called Lanka. This kingdom is speculated to be present day Sri Lanka, which is also where it gets the name from and the kingdom was made of gold, the whole city gleamed in pure gold brilliance. That is what Kancha here means, refering himself as Ravaan (self aware of his demonic traits because Ravaan was born to a Rakshashi [female demon]) and Mandwa as Lanka

This movie good too at it's own style of acting and script. But, the gangster vive is missing in this remake version. Original Agnipath classic is always better with Amitabh Bacchan , Danny Danzoppa, Mithun, Rohini Hattangade and Tinu Anand's dialogue delivery.
