What I liked most about the movie was Akshay Kumar telling Paresh that only an atheist can be a true devotee. He is a skeptic and questions traditions. This keeps him from blindly following a religion and has care for those in need of help. At its core, religion and faith is about teaching love and humanity.(or at least it should be)

      It depends, actually!
There is a fable in our story book, that there lived a "lazy but shrwed person" who use to make his living (lavishly)in this world without doing any work. Then the king got to know about him and he was summoned in King's court. King asked him why is he doing this and he should be ashamed of himself. King also advised the shrwed person that his trick won't work everywhere and eventually he too has to work someday. To that shrewd person made a bet with King that he will work his ways through in his court and among ministers and all, and King agreed with the fact that if the shrwed person fails then he would be sentenced to death. Long story short, is that Shrwed person make his way through even among the King's ministers and eventually the King has to accept defeat. He later asked how the Shrwed person get through his way among ministers too, to which shrwed person replied it's coz of corruption in this world, which he know how to use it for his good effects. Hearing this King got so impressed and hired the shrwed person as revenue minister and with time we see that due to this King found that his revenue increased more than ever.
The whole point of what this story narrates is you need to be anti of something to be good at that only just somehow you get your beliefs sorted. And that's not always the case. At times (many times) there are people who dearly believe in something and yes they are true devotee of that thing/person. If not then Ramkrishna Paramhansa, Radha and Meea, Tulsidas etc all's devotion comes under scrutiny if we go via this logic.
Remember there are multiple path to seek that true eternal being. Some goes through science, some through religion and some through skeptic mindset. But the end goal for every one is pretty much the same.
      As what they say....
"All roads leads to one destination".

15:30 the reason krishna asks Kanji to throw the locket away is that, Krishna, in Gita, asks his devotees to forget all the materialistic pleasures in the world, so that you dont get affected by the results of your hardwork, and this will what be motivating you to work hard, and serve the world, since everything is basically a reflection of God....
This is going to liberate you from your birth-death cycle and unite with the divine god....
Also,,that everything is a part of god, and hence, everything is equally lovable, respectable, and worthy of worship (with the right intention, to serve others)...

Summarizing Gita -- "Just do your Karma (duty) and stop fretting about consequences in after-life or trying to please any Gods etc. Focus on the NOW and just try to fulfill your current duties to the best of your abilities".
As an atheist myself, all I know is that of all the religious books out there, the Gita resonates very closely with my own beliefs (if I consider only its messaging and not the legends and myths surrounding it). Of course, I have read only a very small percentage of it ... no idea how much more wisdom in there that I would relate to.

In hinduism, there are multiple ways to approach god. Granted most people refer god as a parent, but there are other ways too. For example Vishnu is also treated as a child (Gopal) and the worshipper becomes his parent. Similarly goddess Durga is treated as the daughter of the family by the Bengalis. There are also examples of devotees expressing their love for Krishna, as his wife/lover (example Mirabai) or as his friend. In recent times there have been a lot of cult like approach where fear mongering is used by the cult leaders and I love the fact that this movie reminds us that other paths exist.
Fun Fact, You can offer any food to the gods, there are no right and wrong. Sweets, fruits, vegetarian dishes are typically offered, but there are also examples where non vegetarian food like fish is offered to the goddess, there are also places where alcohol is offered. In Kolkata there is a Kali Temple built and maintained by the local Chinese community, who offers the goddess noodles and fried rice. It is said as long as you offer from the heart, with faith and love it is acceptable to the gods.

But even then whenever i need something or something bad is happening i always go like please god help..and if something good happens i thank god.. We all fear god and idk if god exist or not but it is like a coping mechanism to rely on someone or something for good or bad.. And it is never gonna end until this world collapse

Hindu temples were still accepting money back before invasions and but never corrupted. You guys have to watch OMG 2 Next. Watching them back to back will be a great way to compare the similarities and differences between the two.
When OMG came out back in 2012, it generated quite a controversy. Of course the radicals hyped it up as something vile and blasphemous, but they have forgotten that questioning, doubt, and debate have always been an integral part of Hinduism and the Indian Culture. It promotes seeking the Truth, whatever it means to you, whatever way you think. It promotes seeking the Ultimate Reality. Sharing knowledge and learning it is the only way to progress spiritually, emotionally, intellectually.
I understand if you’d wanna take a break from OMG 2 before doing it. But doing it back to back will be a great way to keep the story of OMG fresh, while seeing how it changes things up.
I also like how the films distinguish between Religion and Faith. Although both are in service to the divine, Religion is a cultural and Political practice, while Faith is a personal and spiritual journey.
Religion often states God is a Father/Authority figures. But Faith will make you feel that God is your friend.

I also do the milk pouring on Shiva Ling on every Monday. How ever Its not complete milk its actually 99% water and only a small spoon of milk as a symbol that milk is in it. These ritual can be done without wastage!
Secondly, the subtitles are bit off calling Shiva Ling as Shivas Phallus is wrong translation. The word Ling is mistaken for Phallus, but actually Ling means Symbol, Shiva Ling= Shiva's Symbol.

@ChaatNChat this movie depicts the case of rarest one. In the temples, there are the arrangements of collecting that milk which temple distributes to the poors and all as prasadam.
Secondly,in movie he talked about that temple doesn't care about beggars, so let me tell you, in covid time Iskcon temple alone( just a single temple) in india fed more than 2.5 crore people. And there are open dinings for everyone in Iskcon temple and there are many other temples like this. You can read about STEVE JOBS, he used to eat food in Iskcon Temple to save money.
Temples from ancient times, used to be the epicentre of Knowledge as gurukuls used to be in temples, there used to proper management of everything, they used to feed people. With time, there could be changes as people changes but still there are many as I gave you the example.
Moreover, temples in India runs the whole city, gives everyone a living. Take the example of Ayodhya. There a huge hike in tourism in Ayodhya after the inauguration of Shri Ram Temple and people are earning very good.
Temples in India also pay taxes, while no other religious place does. These taxes are used by govt to serve people.
Temples are doing a lot for people, for humanity but movies like this just show some rare case, a single side to make a narrative.
SO, JOSH BHAIYA YOU SHOULD BE AWARE ABOUT THR REALITY OF ANYTHING , SO AS TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM A PROPAGANDA.

Hence the last phrase," be free from fear" that a lot of people have spread on the other side, when it comes about temples, I would say that yes religion still today is a big business, not typically temples but majorly the message that comes from this was that find divine, find god in yourself rather than finding it in temples.

But What This Movie Is Showing Is Waht Those Self-proclaimed God Men Like Ram Rahim And Asha Ram Did But In Movie They Are Showing It As Actual Temple And Actual Priest Are Doing It And In This Way They Are Srpeading Lies And Specifically Targetting The Idol Worship In Hinduism And Constnatly Degrading It

The thing that pissed many people off including me was him questioning the milk pouring on shivling scene.
But currently after reading shrimad bhagwadgita and shiva purana, I understood that it was an atheist's pov hence he said it in harsh words. But the scene literally doesn't question our rituals or bhakti, it questions on how the purpose of our temples have changed from being an open place of acceptance for learning and knowing sanatan with inner peace, to a business plan by some cunning people. Yes many exceptions still exist and the movie did a wrong thing by not showing any good temples, and there are plenty of them.
Everytime I do abhishek to mahadev, I always try to feed a poor person or stray animal too.
Prabhu can accept both of the things as my prayers and love to him and his creations. Our scriptures teach us a lot, we just need to read it with devotion and accept the teachings with pure heart.
The movie wasn't completely right, neither was it completely wrong either.

Problem is that most Hindus themselves haven't read any scriptures. They rely on Bollywood's telling of 'hindu sanskriti' 'hindu purans' 'hindu vedas' etc. Practically everyone has an opinion on Ramayan but haven't read the original text, Valmiki's Ramayan. Most accept abrahamic's interpretation of non abrahamic religions. That's the basic tactic of conversions. Just look at how many diverse native cultures, festivals and religions have been destroyed by abrahmic religions. Funny thing is that xtian 'miracles' are used to 'cure and convert' people while poor Pope is in a wheelchair. Can some missionary miracle work get a plane ticket from anywhere in Africa or Asia to the Vatican to cure the poor guy? The bottom line is that without people having read anything, it's like arguing about a text with someone who hasn't read it - both who are for it and against it.

    • @ChaatNChat

I think that is exactly why Paresh Rawal was able to school everyone in the court room. He had a whole reading montage of all of the holy texts. He was able to form an opinion after reading the books and the others were blindsided by his knowledge. I think it was a very important part of this story that he read the books himself.

Back then, people readily appreciated movies that challenged logic, setting aside blind faith. However, since the current government came to power, a mentality shift seems to have occurred. Critical thinking appears to be on the decline, replaced by a preference for conflict based on unsubstantiated arguments.
This shift is particularly concerning for minority groups like Christians and Muslims, who face difficulty expressing their views freely. Attempts to do so can be met with harsh consequences, including mob violence and death threats.
If this movie were released today, I believe the director would likely face significant backlash.
PK, a critically acclaimed film that performed exceptionally well at the box office, is now met with negativity. This demonstrates the profound impact the current climate has had on people's thinking.
I sincerely hope that people will rediscover the importance of logical reasoning and recognize how political parties exploit religious differences to divide the country. Their true agenda lies not in development, but in fostering religious discord.

But whatever u said in 2nd para totally false and misleading. Ask any Christians in India whether they feel unsafe, no one will say it.They are peaceful community like Hindus and talking about Muslims...mostly 80 -90% are brainwashed by their Maulas and all their religious gurus. Atleast we Hindus question and don't believe anything blindly but this Muslims especially who are illiterate and living under poverty line has always created problems not only in India but all over the world..they very extremist people. Now that few people are opposing them they are trying to play victim card. Remember mughals and British ruled on us because we are most tolerant community. U have every right to support any political party but u r depicting totally false scenario. Being in minority this community will one day create a huge problem in all over the world. Only solution for this is to educate them in proper schools and not in some madarsas so that they can start thinking logically and start questioning

SRK after not giving a single hit since 2016 , finally made an impact with Jawan. But that's a very mediocre movie. Fans wanted entertainment so they watched. Even Stree 2 has 800 Crore in its bag and still going on. Only entertainment and Good movies will thrive. Soon all south industries are going to overtake Bollywood. Telugu already did 8 years ago. childhood when I thought that the Hindu temple was just a business maturity when I realized that every single detail is misinterpreted. he told me about milk wastage. Still, he will not say that the same milk is used to make charnamritam and offerings from devotees. this temple runs most of free cancer and multi specialized hospitals, schools, old age homes, animal Sanctuary, mid-day meals for half the nation, and during pandemics provide a 24/7 free kitchen just for free that's why they need donations. main point the movie would raise that do not belive anything nonsense in name of religion not that do not belive anything of religion, in India temple is not the palace of worship but they are community centers, schools and cultural town halls if that will go is that not effect the culture of land.

nobody is getting an award for who did the best genocide in the world. Bringing down the struggles and attrocities that were faced by an entire section of society without a 0 percent experience of it is extremely naive. You don't have to add comparitive study of genocides, they are bad, people suffered and died in both of them.

@@anshrathi9687 Yes, you are right. Killing of even a single living being is completely bad. But i was intended to tell that genocide of Kashmiri hindus is not known to people as jews one. I was not intended to draw comparison of who killed more. So, i am sorry if it went that way
