I feel like it's currently worse (I filmed this video 2 weeks ago) because the roof of my mouth is finally coming back... which is a good thing but damn talking is hard haha
I love my public library, and Overdrive/Libby! I always tell my friends to get a card. I'm 26. I just realized the wonder of my local library this year. NO ONE told me while growing up how amazing they are. How IMPORTANT they are. I'm always trying to tell people to sign up. There is something for everyone in libraries. I will raise my own children to appreciate and respect them as well. Thank you. Libraries are so underappreciated.
I need your opinion... my phone died while I was recording my reading vlog for the Raven Boys... should I just do a quick review chatty bit for the first half I lost and add the rest of the clips at the end? Will I ever post a vlog without it having issues? lol
The fact that you were able to read anything the month of your surgery is incredible! I can't even read when I'm in bed with a cold because I am completely unable to concentrate
So happy to have you back, Em. You do sound different but don't worry about it. It's all good. I am amazed at how much you have read already! Be proud.
Honestly I think I'll sound more normal once everything calms down! I filmed this 2 weeks ago and I had just started getting pins and needles in the roof of my mouth hence the lisp haha
You keep mentioning this lisp (I watched your other video too), but I really don’t notice it at all. So glad you’re back, I was missing your book videos. ❤️😁
i had the same surgery you had about 9 months ago, and i can tell you with absolute certainty that after about 3/4 months post op and after taking out the stitches, you completely forget you even had this major surgery in the first place. wishing you and your recovery all the best! the worst part is already way over, now it's just the benefits
It's so weird how much you forget lol How long did it take your nerves to come back? My right side is lagging compare to the left so of course I'm being paranoid that it will never come back (thanks brain!)
BookswithEmilyFox i still can't feel everything. my chin doesnt feel dormant but sometimes when i think my mouth is closed it's actually open bc i cant really feel them closed. but most of it has come back, and its completely normal to have nerve problems for the first year
I don't see the problem other people have... Yes, you look a bit different, but life is life and sometimes things like that has to be done. Besides you're the same person, so while watching the video I pretty much got used to it and now I don't even notice the change so much. The main thing is that you're back, I missed new videos from you. I wish you the best with your recovery! :)
I love that you read adult books and in particular classic sci fi! No-one else on booktube seems to. Also happy to see you are doing so well after your surgery. Love your channel!
Just started using Audiobooks this year and they have really helped me keep getting through my bookish goals when I get in reading slumps and it is such a great use of long drives. I am so happy I've been able to get through a bunch of classics that have been on my list FOREVER :D Actually listened to The Count of Monte Cristo this year and LOVED it :D One of my favorite stories overall for sure :) (over 48 hours and I couldn't wait to listen to it) Hope you get a chance to finish it soon :) Glad you're healing well :)
Hey Emily! I’m so so glad you’re recovered enough to come back to filming, that’s incredible after just 3 months post-op, you’re too good to us! 😁 stats videos are such a guilty pleasure haha, this was fab. More sci-fi whaaaaat 💁🏻 oh I´d love to see videos about your favourite audiobooks and how you read so many books. Reading vlogs are also a 100% yes always, I can’t wait for all of your future videos! I wish you the absolute best recovery and I’m so happy that it’s been this good so far ☺️👏🏻
I love your book stats which are so fascinating! Most of my books read this year are from the library but I have actually read some on my own shelf which shocks me! It means that I can actually see what I want to keep, give a way to friends or donate! I am at 67 for a year so I think I am doing pretty well. Please make a video on money saved for using the library! I can't wait for your monthly updates - super happy you are back and hopefully your recovery continues to be great!
Welcome back!! I love watching book stat videos, though I never track my own stats. I have no idea how many books I've read so far this year. But I feel like it's much less than in other years (at least for fiction - I'm reading more non-fiction). I think I'm in reading slump.
Glad to hear your surgery went well and you’re recovered enough to start filming. 376 pages/book average is pretty impressive, congratulations! Looking forward to all of your wrap ups coming up.
Yay! I’m so glad your back!! 🙌🏻🥰🥰 I’ve attempted to track my reading for YEARS but I’ve always gotten lazy with it and stopped 😬 But your motivating me to start and stick with it! I WOULD LOVE AN AUDIOBOOKS RECOMMENDATIONS FROM YOU 🙏🏻 I wish you all the best with your recovery ♥️♥️✨
I was amazed at how many videos you prerecorded for both of your channels before your surgery. You deserve an award for most dedicated RUclipsr! Also, I hereby excuse you from the Big-Book Challenge for the rest of the year (if you so desire) ;-)
I would love another beginner's guide to SciFi!! You're one of the rare booktubers I watch who really loves them and I'm always looking for more recommendations :)
Welcome back and yes, I would like to see the savings number. Including the books you bought from the library! PS. Invest in a Kobo - it allows you to use e-Books from the Canadian library system. Also the prices track what's on Amazon. The only drawback is that the selection of books is smaller - especially for self published books. I actually quite liked the Kobo as it has a reward program which give you points to redeem for free books.
Welcome back, Emily! I hope your surgery went well, and all the best with the rest of your recovery! Thanks for the stats video - it's good to know I'm not the only one who analyzes their reading habits so closely! :-)
BookswithEmilyFox not a stat per se, but I love it when I see the titles of books I’ve been putting off among my read books, or when I finally finish a series I’ve been reluctant to, even if I didn’t end up enjoying it.
I wish I was better at keeping my reading stats spreadsheet up to date. I love seeing all these stats! I'm glad you're back and I hope your recovery goes well xox
I was just looking on saturday to see if you were back yet! I have a suggestion for an e reader. Get a kobo, you can link it to overdrive and borrow books that way. In gatineau our library system sucks but i was able to link to my parents account in halifax and read on my kobo all the time the ebooks borrowed.
The newer kobos sync directly with overdrive!!! It is life changing, and I love mine so much. So if your library uses overdrive, that is an option now. Glad to see you're healing nicely!
Welcome back! :) I've been reading the books that you recommended in your 'Beginners to sci-fi' video and so far I have been loving almost all of them :D ! I only have The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August and Wool to read, so I'm really looking forward to your next sci-fi recommendations!
Welcome back! We missed you! In my book stats I also look at the nationality of the authors (I have a sort of scratch map), because I have the tendency to read mostly British/American books, which is fine since I'm trying to improve my English & I love their literature, but it could be balanced out with a little bit of curiosity. In fact, I usually go for contemporary Japanese/Korean novels, but my goal would be to include as many countries as possible. Alas, it's been 3 years in a row in which I read fantasy and contemporary literature and basically nothing else, so this year I'm also adding more non-fiction books - some of them are really good! I'm just lazy when it's time to choose which one to read. I would also like to add a final note, related to some of your twitter posts I saw yesterday… ugh, this is something that I usually don't write, but this time I feel I have to: please be aware that some of your followers truly don't care about your face/ your current pronunciaton, not because it is not relevant, but because it is not my - or someone else's - business. I had surgery four months ago, and now I have four scars on my belly: they are not ugly, but nevertheless the scars are going to be visible for many years, they are going to turn purple every time I sunbathe, and every time I wear a bikini, or my belly is exposed, I feel extremely conscious of the scars (sometimes I swear I see people noticing them). Yet, I had to undergo surgery, I couldn't trade my future health for a smooth skin. But people, even with good intentions, once in a while point out that 'the scar is not so subtle, huh?', 'that scar healed better than I expected'. I really wish people would stop saying things like this, because how and when the skin is going to heal is my business, moreover it's not truly a problem, since I'm fine and I have a perfectly normal life, thank you. I hope your recovery is going great!
Happy to see you back! Also yeeees to your sci-fi for beginners video! Interested to see what makes it! Your lisp isn't that bad so I wouldn't worry about it, I didn't notice it until you said something.
So glad to have you back! And seeing your library stats is amazing because more than half of what I read in a year I get from the library because especially in Finland the library system is great and I have one a few hundred meters from my house :D
I'm so happy you're back. I missed your opinions on your recent reads. I saw what you was reading on Goodreads but I wanted to *hear* you rant about it :-) So you are doing better. Stay healthy!
Welcome back Emily! It’s so good to have you back!!! Great video-I love a stats video! Really can’t wait for your wrap ups too! The silver lining of needing recovery time is all the reading / listening you can do. Also would be interested in your recommendations for audio books. I keep trying to find the Martian after your recommendation, but my library doesn’t have it 😭. See you in your next video 😉
Not sure if you know but Kobo ereader from Chapters Indigo is linked directly to the library through Overdrive. You can have the Overdrive app on you phone and tablet as well and they will all sync together with the location you are in the book. So you can read it on all three at the same time. Whatever you have handy. Love Overdrive through the library! Great for getting free library books.
got so exited when i got this notification! glad to have your videos back :) i watched your surgery vidoes as well, and that looked intense! i hope you continue to have a good recovery.
Yay you're back! Hope you're doing well. And stats like these are really interesting! I read a bunch in the same year, like Recursion. I actually picked it up on your recommendation and I really liked it! Want to pick up Dark Matter soon.
Glad yer back! Looking forward to the wrap ups and sci-fi recommendations. Been thinking about keeping track of which books I read for a while now.. this is a good nudge to get more organized 😌
For anyone that missed it... twitter.com/beautywithemily/status/1167878531700776965
Well well well... look what the cat dragged in!
Also snow globe Emily is wondering why she's not in the background and why we're not good enough for HD?
You look so cute, kinda like you have the snapchat baby face filter on haha :D Hope your recovery is going well !
I actually tried that filter just after surgery haha I looked extra toddler-chubby!
I would LOVEE to see “ Toddler Emily “ giving us the tea of the year on books haha 😆🔥🍵
I feel like it's currently worse (I filmed this video 2 weeks ago) because the roof of my mouth is finally coming back... which is a good thing but damn talking is hard haha
As a public librarian, I would love to see a video about how much money you saved using yours!
IntoYourLungs that would be such a great video!
My library recently added an "amount saved" at the bottom of the check out receipt.
I love my public library, and Overdrive/Libby! I always tell my friends to get a card. I'm 26. I just realized the wonder of my local library this year. yes you should! some of the clips is better than none of the clips :)
Yes
yeah, that'd be great!
Yes, please!
Yes!
It is sooo good to have you back, hope your recovery went well ! ❤
Thank you :)

@@BookswithEmilyFox I am so happy your recovery is going well. And your diction is still really clear, so no worries. Just take your time. 😊

You keep mentioning this lisp (I watched your other video too), but I really don’t notice it at all. So glad you’re back, I was missing your book videos. ❤️😁
Yes do the math for the savings through your library
i had the same surgery you had about 9 months ago, and i can tell you with absolute certainty that after about 3/4 months post op and after taking out the stitches, you completely forget you even had this major surgery in the first place.
