I feel like Jean Claude Van Damme doesn't get enough respect. For being a real fighter and a real martial artist. He was a real legit Shotokan Karate Black Belt. Even has a legitimate kickboxing record. Some might say well that's Wikipedia doesn't mean anything. When Van Damme would have been competing it would have been sometime in the 70's. The terminologies for Combat Sports have changed as far as the wording. It may very well have been a Full - Contact or Semi- Contact Karate matches/fights. They wasn't no K-1, Glory Kickboxing, and now we have Karate Combat. Doesn't matter it's all relevant in my humble opinion. I'm also so glad Michael Jai White. Has corrected himself. On his feelings on if Van Damme is a " real fighter/martial artist." A few years ago on The Voice Versus aka Michael Schiavello's sit down one on one interview series. Jai White said he doesn't consider him neither. The number one thing I can tell Van Damme is legit. Is his effortless freedom of movement. When you train as a fighter martial artist. You drill single techniques and combinations. Like Bruce Lee said "Don't fear the man that knows 1,000 kicks. Fear the man that trained one kick 1,000 times." You basically enter flow state or ultra instinct. Go look at any Great Athlete. Whether that is Michael Jordan or Bo Jackson. Larry Bird or Muhammad Ali. Mike Tyson or Conor McGregor you get it? All of these individuals have one thing in common in their respective sport genre. Also another sign of this. Is when you watch Van Damme. There are no tells or telegraphs in his repetitive movements.
Van Damme is legit. But his record in fighting just not as long as a lot of the other MJW mentioned. But i feel what youre saying. He has been doing movies so long people kind of forget Van Damme competed. His kick game is immaculate. He actually dumbs his skills down for movies. Which is different from most film martial artists who generally make themselves look super incredible in movies. Van Damme likes to portray slower, more beat up & overcome type of fighting. Which makes for a more inspiring film. He dont just dominate in movies like everyone else and go untouched. Because of that, people think of him less. But nah, Van Damme is legit. He has video online whoopin ass in his karate tournaments. He was fast as shit and very timely with kicks. His flexibility is very underrated.
That movie is so boring lmao but better than sudden death 2 Jesus that’s probably one of the worst movies ever made not just in the jai white filmography
man, i could sit and listen to Michael Jai White talk all day... i'd love to be friends with him, he's one of the coolest dudes alive and just a WEALTH of knowledge... MJW should be the biggest action star on the planet....
Billy Blanks was an animal man. People really forget because of Tae Bo. Just look at those scenes from The King of The Kickboxers. Cheesy at times from an acting perspective... but the fight at the end is wild. But Jet Li was also completely ridiculous outside of film. Bruce Lee is forever legendary. MJW know what he talking bout here.

I believe Bruce actually said I fear the man who practiced 1 kick 10,000 times
He is neither

I just learned how to be honorable and wholesome from Michael Jai White. Thank you man.
Jerry Trimble is phenomenal and part of the golden era of American kickboxing.
When it comes to kick boxing, Billy chow is the real deal. Look him up
Thank you
Billy Blanks was an animal man.
@@JoseGonzalez-gg6rs the video and the question is about martial artist WHO WERE IN SEVERAL FILMS. Not fighters they fought as competitors. So you bring in irrelevant points just because you want to. Like Noah Lyles said, you're gonna be depressed when we come outta the turn. Oh well lol.

I'm with Jai White on his list 10000%. Benny is a beast!! Don is also a legit legend. Bolo isn't bad too. Sammo should be there with Jackie and his choreography are great but Donnie's is better
I love Donnie Yen to Death, but Jackie Chan's action scenes were superhero level
Yes Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao should both the there when it comes to fight Cheography.

I believe there were interviews where Jackie Chan and Jet Li said Donnie Yen had the best martial arts for real situations. Donnie Yen himself said he wanted to be a MMA fighter but a nagging injury prevented him from pursuing MMA. There is also Brock Lesner.
Jackie Chan to me is the best on top of everybody. The Stunts he did on his movies are some of the craziest shit ever.

Mark's got speed that makes Bruce Lee look like a snail moving through molassess. He's got real fighting skills. While he hasn't done any 720 kicks like Tony Jaa he's got plenty of acrobatic kicks and was highly skilled gymnastics.
He studied a wide range of arts including his dad's (Al Dacascos) sytle, Won Hop Keun Do, Capoeira, Wushu, Muay Thai, and grappling. Even at 60 he puts a lot of younger people to shame.
As for Jerry Trimble, the guy looks like rank ameteur compared to Mark and the other people on this list, which shows that fighting in the ring doesn't make you a high level figther.
My personal favorite is Donnie Yen, who I would like to give a shoutout to. Donnie Yen is incredibly versatile period. Donnie Yen knows many many martial art styles and has mastered some. Donnie Yen also has amazing choreography and all his fights look so crisp and have so much soul.
