Well said. Most actors with money these days are mired in controversy. From hanging with Diddy to Getting ordinary folk to fork out money for their own benefit. All those morals portrayed by them in their movies are never expressed in their lives. So for Tony Jaa. Its all a win.

You cannot control someone's life like that especially when the person is someone like Tony Jaa, whose stardom was inevitable, he had to go beyond Thailand, such talents are born once in a while
Ong bak 1 got me into muay thai. It came out in 2003, i didny see it till 2005 or 2006 when i was 20. Im now 39 and have been training ever since consistently between muay thai/kickboxing and boxing and bjj. Tony was one of the best of the best in martial arts movies and stunts and only had a fraction of the movies the the other greats like jackie chan, jet li, sammo hung, etc. Thats how you know how skilled he was. There is no "downfall" either. Hes living just great in thailand with his family.
Tony Jaa, did what was right for him, he wanted to show what his art was about, you can't have someone controlling what you want to capture your full potential on film, Bruce Lee had full control of the makings of his movies, what is different about Tony Jaa, the movie industry he was involved with shattered his spirit, you can't change the outcome of one masters art, Tony did the right thing, good things will come to you.
Thank Wise wind for your PROFOUND opinion in this video about Tony Jaa's movie career. Some of your statements resonate deeply with me. The first is "For Bruce Lee, the important thing is his characters knows WHY he is FIGHTING". The second is "Sometimes, life is more than stardom. Success is more than living up to someone else's expectations.... So is It a DIFFERENT kind of Success?"
just because hes not in woke hollywood doesnt mean he is living a sad life, he lives better than alot of hollywood celebs, hes not controlled by the elites
True. Ong Bak was a turning point in martial arts films, everyone wanted to step their game up after that. Seeing him first perform those stunts and the grittiness and brutality of it is similar to seeing the CGI in LOTR for the first time, it was spectacular.
He´s a grown man now. He was young and worked hard to gain a place in the industry. He got it, meditated and probably decided to settle down and play smart. He probably realized what was important, his family and peace. I respect the man for what he achieved.
Wrong Bruce Lee was a Thug, a Hood, a bully or whatever you want to call it. He wasn't known for winning street fights, he was known for getting into them and participating in street fights. It's also fact that the only reason Bruce Lee learnt martial arts in the first place is, because he wanted to beat up other people. Hence why he went to Ip Man to learn martial arts in the first place. I wish you people would worship him for the man he was, not the myth all of you created.
Tony Jaa literally bought a whole apartment building to himself and made it like a secret safe house in spy movies. Like it’s an old building with peeling paint, no one would have guessed it’s his house. He got rid of the walls and made it a gym/living space/shrines and whatnot. He collects all the stuff he got from filming abroad. Bro is living his best life. He does backflips and moonwalks in his house. He is actually a pretty silly guy. He said the reason he bought that old apartment building was because it’s by the lake and he loves the view.
Jaa has two Great Martial Arts films, three if you count the underrated Ong Bak 2, he also had a lot of " mids" in Protector 2, Skin Trade, Paradox, and the Sci Fi " Jujitsu ". Xander, Monster Hunter and Fast/Furious, were big budget Hollywood films and he also did a pretty good Chinese action film too. The only film he did that I thought was Bad was Ong Bak 3. Dude's had a pretty Good career for a martial arts action star.
The Protector 2 was silly having Rza as the main antagonist . Of course he’s Mr. Man with the Iron Fists but he wasn’t a formidable match in Protector 2.
Hard working, show to the world what and who you are, then pull back and live life in peace. I say...a very smart man who knows when to hold and when to fold. I mean Ja is still a legend even when he appeared in The Expendables 4 it was still the same Tony Jaa to me from all those films. So I don't know what people are talking about Tony Jaa will always be the legend!
Bruce Lee is not just a movie star as you say. You don’t even notice what’s real talent. There’s a reason why Tony and many idolize Bruce Lee. I’ll just leave to that
Grew up watching ong bak.. it was just something new and different from the usual kung fu martial arts movies. That knee and elbow to the head was always dope. I remember seeing that scene where he kicked that street light 😮 😳🤯
What would be heartbreaking is if he lost himself in the mess of fame and Hollywood. All I see here is a success story of a man who kept his head and held onto his roots through the trials and tribulations of stardom. If he chose to step away from that at any point it wouldn't be sad. It would be a life choice that I'd have to respect whether I want to see him on the screen again or not.
I will watch any movie Tony makes even, if it is all subtitles. Tony's moves are that good. I don't blame him for the bad scripts in movies he has been in. All the men in Thailand seem to spend some time in the temple learning to be a monk so don't hold that against him. I lived in Bangkok in 1986 & 87 working for Seagate. Thai people are very nice and helpful to foreigners . I will go visit again once we retire.
One thing I will say is ong bak 2 and 3 were sadly not up to par compared to the first but they were still worth watching and his skills were still top notch. Ong Bak was a very hard movie to top but the protector was very good. That one had the same feel as Ong Bak. Absolutely savage. The few later movies he did like monster hunter I believe it was called, was not great but it also wasn't his movie to star in. Even with his relatively small body of work, he still gets praised as one of the best martial arts actors ever.
Stunt or not he was very skilled. Like all martial artist time is not your friend. I practice Wing Chun and what I was when younger is not what I am today. Enjoy while your body allows you to perform. Then you die
He became victim of his own talent. Tom Yoom Goong was the pinnacle of the hardcore fighting stunts, whoever watched it couldn't satisfy with anything else. Tony or anyone couldn't surpass the bar set by Tom Yoong Goong.
We all go through changes in life… hopefully Tony will use this life process as stepping stones to higher places, that meet his needs first. When it comes to movie companies, you eventually lose what and who you continually abuse.
I only liked one of his movies. He has enormous talent. It's a shame that martial arts movies aren't that big in America (main strean). idk why, but superhero movies are still in. I can't wait for that to phase out.
I’m delighted to hear a defense of a GOAT Muy Thai stunt man/athlete. It’s too easy for bystanders to make a “Rise and Fall of …” video. One thing about him isn’t clear to me: Is he alive? At one point, I heard the narrator say, “Had he lived…”.
I think the idea of letting him speak while in character is huge. Honestly that is how the fans will read into that actors character most the time. I mean we have "where is my elephant" versus a long dialog Bruce Lee gave to a student about the emotional context of Kung Fu. "The don't think feel" speech. When you look at it that way Jaa was robbed from allowing him to be anything other than cool moves.
he made 2 of the best action movies of all time and now is living his best life with a beautiful family, nothing heartbreaking about it…
Basically if hes back in Thailand hes even more lucky than people think...5555
