Sushi sushi sushi !! If you come to Japan, then you probably want to try authentic sushi from the motherland right??
So, here are 5 of my favourite delicious yet cheap sushi restaurants in Tokyo! The ones I went to were all a short walk away from Shibuya Station in Tokyo, but you can find these franchises all over Tokyo and some have shops nationwide.
    #1 Zauo Fishing Restaurant
    #2 Midori Sushi
    #3 Standing Sushi Bar
#4 Uobei Conveyor Belt Sushi (Genki sushi group)
    #5 Sushi Daidoko-ya
There are soooooo many sushi restaurants in Japan that it is hard to find the "best" one, since they come in all kinds of styles from cheap conveyor belt sushi restaurants to standing sushi bars.
They all have their specialities and uniqueness so find one that interests you and give it a try!
Let me know your favourite sushi shops in the comments! :)
I'd love to go try them out too!

In researching my Japan trip this summer, this channel has EASILY become the best and most applicable resource when it comes to Tokyo tourism for me. EVERY SINGLE VIDEO has something valuable to give and seems to hit the targets that many of the other jvloggers miss out on. Super thankful for Angela!

There are countless sushi restaurants in Japan and thousands of them just in Tokyo alone, so it is hard to find the "best" one out there since they come in all kinds of styles from cheap conveyor belt sushi restaurants to standing sushi bars. In today's video, Angela want to shows us her Tokyo favorites that are delicious, fresh, unique and affordable, covering a range of different sushi places in this video, from fishing style, sit & order style, standing style, conveyor belt style and traditional style.
0:46 - Started with '''Zauo Fishing Restaurant''' where you can fish for your own sushi. First you get your free fishing rod and bait that cost 100 Yen. Then you choose the fish that you want in specific fish tanks and start fishing. Note: If you catch the wrong fish, you can't release it. Fishing for your own sushi will take some time but Angela finally got it, while the staff celebrated her catch to her mild embarrassment. Then, choose how you would like your fish cooked - sashimi style, as a sushi, grilled, boiled or fried as a tempura. Angela chose to have half of the red snapper as a sushi and half of it boiled.
3:26 - '''Midori Sushi'''. Angela's personal favourite. It's a crowd-favourite too so Angela recommends making your reservation online. Midori has an English menu, the quality and prices are reasonable, and the ingredient to rice ratio is generous.
4: 57 - '''Standing Sushi Bar'''. Standing while eating is a common way to eat in Japan. It's a no-frills, compact restaurant where you get to see your food made in front of you.
5:57 - '''Uobei Conveyor Belt Sushi''' (Genki sushi group). A fun 100-yen conveyor belt sushi place. Watch your sushi arrives to you on a high-tech conveyor belt system. You can see that it's a pretty popular place too.
7:07 - '''Sushi Daidoko-ya'''. This is an old-school conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Angela recommends the the affordable Koborezushi "Spilling Out Sushi" consisting of tuna, salmon, and tuna salad for 400-yen. All these sushi places have their specialties and uniqueness, you just have to find one that interests you and give it a try!
8: 21 - Angela comments about the awesome travel advice from her viewers.

@NADS IQ Doesn't the term sushi actually refer to the fermented / vinegared rice?! It has nothing to do with the actual fish.

In the red light district of Shinjuku from the African guys. I didn't buy any because the penalties for having drugs in Japan are so steep. Also it was really expensive (like 40 a gram as I recall). I assume it's not very good either. You probably want to just avoid drugs while you're in Japan. The African guys are linked to organized crime and can get you into some bad situations.

Your videos are giving me so much inspiration for my trip and confidence to do the things I missed out on last time! Watching them is making me so excited!
Also, I've found it hard to come across advice or recommendations that aren't super popular so it's helpful that you include a wide range of things to do.
So thank you and keep up the good work :)

My parents took me to eat sushi when I was about 6 and for the longest time, we would put a little wasabi and ginger on the sushi before we ate it lol. my mom taught me to eat it that way. when I found out the correct way to eat it, I told her and she said that she felt really dumb for eating it that way bc it really does make sense that it would clean your palate.

I had overnight stays in Tokyo and a full day before my connecting flight was scheduled to depart so had time to explore. I did ushiku last year with a friend who lived there as a tour guide but this year and no one in shibuya so on my own. Found some nice places but should have watched this video lol. Going back in September with a friend whose never to japan before and I'll be there longer than previously. Thank you for this and being a good tour guide on food lol. Hopefully we bump into each other and have coffee or sit lunch together lol. Who knows world is small lol. Thanks for this it's a year old but still useful. Your awesome.

Great video, thank you so much for the insights! I really liked the second shop, sushi looked brilliant and fish to rice racio was just how I like it. Until I get to visit Japan some day, I´ll keep making my sushi at home ;)

Hi Angela, how I've missed your go to Japanese restaurants that are affordable and delicious like this video! Last time, when I travelled to Japan, we went to sushi daidokoya and did not forget to order the koborezushi, which was amazing! I still think about it today! Really, Thank you for sharing the places you love to eat at, it would be soo great if you share more of this kind of video, because it was definitely helpful and fun to watch when I miss Japan.
But most of all, I hope you are healthy, safe and well!

I really enjoy your videos!! I must of visited around 20 Sushi shops/restaurants when I was there last year for a couple weeks...all of them were top quality and not expensive! Hoping to go back in May for a few weeks! I love Japan!!

Great suggestions and I have saved this video for my trip! I will definitely try your favourite one but my budget will likely have me spend more time at the cheaper ones!
ps...I had my finger on the pause button when he had that big stick in hand and the net with the fish in the other! I thought he was going to whack it! So glad he didn't. My luck would be I catch the wrong fish!

Wow thanks for the great info on the sushi shops. I went to a conveyor one where you just choose from what was going around and it was fun and the food great. Next time I go to Japan I will check out some the places you recommended.

Excellent video and production quality! I really like your approach on sharing all things Japan. Sharing something as simple as five different ways to enjoy sushi on a budget is a great way to separate your efforts from the main stream productions. Well done! I look forward to trying all five styles when I finally travel to Japan.

daidokoya is my fav, especially in lunch time where they have a cheap sashimi rice set (chirashi). Also the usually have a whale meat (kujira) and horse meat (sakura niku).
