In my search to bring Japanese food and culture to the world, I may have offended some people by including whale in my video. I apologize to those whom I have offended. Out of respect, I will not feature whale in my future videos. Hope you guys enjoy the rest of the video.
Paolo fromTOKYO Whale is important & eaten in other cultures as well. Native Americans in Alaska eat whale & seal. Don't apologise. I just recently subscribed, been bing watching your videos - dig the editing, pace, map drawing & your honest energy, unlike some RUclipsrs who overreact by tilting their heads when taking a bite of food. Hope you get more subscribers & sucess. Also, your girlfriend is adorable.
don't bow down, geeze. if they're offended, they can take a walk. i want to see more whale!
Native Americans don't do it illegally and don't over-hunt endangered species.
No need to apologies - not sure 'offended' is the right word. Its just that its illegal, and the vast majority of people in the world (including Japan) would prefer it didn't happen. Its not even a viable industry as it costs the Japanese governments millions of dollars every year.
I don't think it's a matter of respect. I don't feel offended, I know that a lot of people eat whale, I knew it before your video. And I know that Japan Government is ignoring the international laws about it, maybe for lazyness, maybe for protecting a weird and minoritarian "food nationalism". The problem is that if you buy whale, eat whale and make a video about it you are actively promoting the thing. And you still are, now! If your video remains online, you are taking a position. Your apologizing comment cannot compare with the video itself, they have different weighs, I don't know if I'm clear.
You should put it offline, edit it, in order not to promote the (illegal) consumption of whale meat.
If you really want to change your position about the thing...
I went to the market today and had the sea urchin bun and it was amazing! Plus they have a picture of you on the stall! 😁
Yes, me too, I saw it on the steam box last week : )
Can't wait to check it out myself
Paola,
We filmed at the fish market this morning and I guess you’ve heard they’ve put up your photo where they sell the sea urchin bun :) And you’re right, it’s absolutely delicious!
im not a huge commenter but what kinda blows me away from your videos is how genuinely happy you seem to be eating that food--hahah you're just so expressive and seem super genuine which is rare to see! also all the food looked (w the exception of whale, but you already addressed that in your pinned comment i see) so good!!
Thanks Maite. I appreciate you keeping it positive.
Map is downloadable from my site www.tokyozebra.com/maps
Sea urchin in a bun!!!! Will try this!!!!
It was soooo good!
Paolo fromTOKYO 👌
I just tried yesterday. It’s really not delicious. Smell like something you can find it in the toilet. Hahaha....and they are also hanging paolo photo there.
Actually, me too. I couldn’t finish it. I had to throw away. The grilled scallop with uni on top place has a better uni there.
Are you people really argueing about taste🤦
My buddy and me went to tsukiji back in 2015, took the advise of a hotel assistant and queued up at a corner-shop sushi restaurant. Hands down the best sushi i ever had, straight from the auction, cut up and served. Can't beat fresh fish that was still swimming in the sea less then 12 hours before eating it. Japan is amazing.
Paolo is literally the most photogenic youtuber! His videos are always SO much fun to watch and immediately put you in a great mood.
Thank you Paolo. Awesome content as my wife and I planning to visit Japan next year, your videos will definitely make a great help to us!
I've got to say it, your videos make me smile everytime. It's just a joy to see you guys being so enthusiastic and seemingly genuine in front of the camera. It's a wholesome experience to watch these videos, it really is! I love it!
Just wanted to say thanks for this awesome video. Me and my girl enjoyed all of the food you recommended from the whale meat to the uni bun, which is our favorite. They had you’re picture posted right in front of the place lol. Thanks again!
Your channel is sooooo underrated, should be well over 1m by now 😢 I have no doubt it will take off sooner rather than later 👍🤞
1 mil
He is now at 2 mil, under 1 year
LOVE YOUR VLOGS!! Going to Tokyo this August. I actually made an excel file for all your recos =p thanks for all the helpful information!!!!
Saving your this vudeo for my November trip. Thanks
I watch a lot of these RUclips in Japan food videos and nice to see foods I've never seen before. Was surprised to see the whale but it's part of their culture and at the end of the day, that is what you were doing showcasing Japanese food and culture.
Glad you could enjoy the video even though you don't agree with eating whale. Thanks for the positive comment.
Aidan Lam but he posted a comment with his apologies for showcasing whale food, and wrote that he wont do it anymore.
I believe he is not against it since whe can see he likes to eat it, but in the end it is his opinion, he said he will respect the viewers point of view ant will not show it anymore so its ok.
Stop being a dick.
Your videos actually changed my itinerary... Thanks for all the effort put into making this video!
great videos again.Japanese foods are super delicious.
It is relaxing to watch you both enjoying what you're doing. Genuine
What I like the most in your videos is your joyness doing that, this is so contagious that I normaly hit the like button before the first minute :)
Also you always bring quite interesting spots, foods and activities to share with us, thank you for that!
I do love your vdo and really regret that I've just found your channel. Your choices look yummy and I love the way you deacribe with the map. I went to Japan a couple times but only wandering along Kansai part. After watched your clips, I will make sure to go to Tokyo when I have a chance to visit Japan. 😃
Thanks Andante! Hopefully you get to make it out to Tsukiji sooner than later.
Andante Cantabile you found his channel 10 months before me ^ ^
I got it worst. ^ ^
I've eaten at Kujira no Tomisui and it was one of the most memorable places I ate at not just in Tsukiji but in all of Japan. Cool to see that you've been there too!
I think this guy have a huge contribution to Japanese tourism everytime I see his videos it made me want to go to Japan
Paolo, you're the best japan vlogger ever. As someone who came to Japan twice a year, all your videos and guides always bring something new to me. And yeah, I followed most of your guides and they are the best experiences!
Thanks Dyah. Super happy to hear that you could make use of my guides.
Followed your suggestions, and it did not disappoint! That Tuna Belly over rice is the BOMB!!!! Thanks Paolo!
Awesome! Glad you liked the video lingchie07.
First time traveller to Tsukiji Market and I'm excited to follow all of your destination!
12:55 showing food but there's a sign of no food in the back, now that's gangsta lyf XD.

Hi Paolo... been watching all your Japan videos... it had been interesting & informative.
What is the best time to visit Tsukiji Market? Will be in Tokyo next week and will definitely try out the ten foods that you had recommended in your video.
I would say around 8-9am if you are going to the jogai side.
Another great video getting me pumped for my trip to Japan in May!
Thanks Jay!
Love this guide! My lil sis & i watched this & a few more of your videos before we made a trip to Tokyo this summer. We pretty much used your video as a guide for the food stuff! When we had a hard time looking for the food stalls, we ended up finding them by recognizing the vendors themselves thanks to your video! LOL!
always happy to see you eat fried foods, and also maiko's expressions!
Great recommendations
Thanks for the maps and best times to visit.
@ 13:13 I love the fact that you're eating oysters and behind you on the right side of the frame, there's a sign NO Food & Drinks (ROTFL). You're an adorable duo, thanks for sharing all this precious content.
going there in May can't wait....

I totally missed out on the squid ink bun with uni. Your videos really helped find some great places to eat in Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka. Thanks!

Thanks John! Yeah, if you're in Shibuya enough you'll probably see me.
I'll be back in Japan at the end of this month, & I'm trying to experience the auction as well as the foods you've featured on this video. Thanks for making this, it was super enjoyable to watch!
Awesome! Let me know if you get to try any of the shops that I recommended.
Dude your videos are awesome! I just found your channel recently and I’ve been obsessed watching every video. We love your reactions! Also, I really thought it would be a good idea for you to visit Puerto Rico one time and try our food. We have a vast variety of food ( most is fried so I’m pretty sure you will like it) . Our little island is known because of it, and I admit, our food is awesome! I wish you would taste it! Keep up the good work! Itadakimasu!

Love your videos on Shinjuku. You made our first trip more enjoyable! We found most of your top 10 things to eat, but we really wanted to eat the uni bun and could not find it! Can you give us some direction to find it? Keep on making video’s.
Thank you! And thanks for listing all the spots with locations! I just copied and pasted the list and sent to myself for easy access (except for the whale...). :)

The food is pretty good here.
Can’t wait to try the crab cake 🤤
First time we tried Otoro don (no. 6), it was that good, the second time we visited Japan, we purposely flew the earliest flight to arrive in Tokyo and hired a car so that we can visit Tsukiji first thing in the morning, just to have that warm toro don again.
Brilliant vlog, i will be eating everything.
wow, that's a tall task. Let me know which one is your favorite.
love your video.. yummy food.. so hungry
Thanks Pheng!
I am watching a lot of your vids as your maps and enthusiasm really help. With this place relocating slightly are you going to do a newer version of this one?
Tsukiji Fish Market is amazing, man. Went there 2 years back, you make me wanna go back for the awesome food there.
We just visited a crack den in Portugal for our vlog, haha 😜
Two Broskis we went twice at the wrong times they were closing up each time TT_TT
