Thanks, great video!!! We were just there, loved some of these and look forward to trying the rest on our next visit! I’ll add that we had an amazing experience at the tiny 4-person counter Sushi Okame - some of the best sushi we had in Tokyo. No English menu but if you know a few Japanese sushi words, you’ll be fine. We also loved the negitoro bowl at Tsukiji Donburi Ichiba. Try some of the places without lines! There are many gems there.

I think Tsukiji is more expensive than Kuromon market but it depends on shops, Wanomiya Kuromon Ichiba store or Kobeya would be good palce to have Wagyu!

It opens from 6 am but some stores still closes at that time and almost all the stores open at 9am but it's already busy enough so I guess 8 am around would be the best??
I recommend to visit very early in the morning like 7 am or before then because around 9 am is already busy however some shops open around 9 am so 7 or 8 am should be good I guess... sorry it's always busy so I can't give you the best timing😅
I would also recommend going early. However, that might mean that you will be in the subway during rush hour, which for me is even more unpleasant than being at Tsukiji when its busier...

Yeah but it's very friendly to people from foreign countries and workers at Tsukiji Fish Market speak fluent English and we can enjoy a lot of food at one place so it's still great place to visit👍

Sometimes, tourists like me don’t mind the higher prices in Tsukiji, because the seafood and other food there would be a lot more expensive back in the countries that we live in. 😅 Also, the seafood especially, is fresher or is better quality than back in our home countries. But yes, the prices do seem higher in Tsukiji than elsewhere in Tokyo. We even went back to some of the same restaurants we went to before in different years and there are now bigger price increases. Still, Tsukiji is a lot of fun to explore. Hope you can show more shops in Tsukiji. Maybe some more places hidden upstairs or lesser known restaurants?

Also, it’s easy for tourists to try so many different kinds of foods in one area. Instead of going all over Tokyo in one day. And you can graze or snack on different smaller sized portions of food and share them with your family or friends. Then keep buying more foods to try.😋Tsukiji is especially good for first time visitors, because it is tourist friendly and easy to order food. So casual and we can eat on the street and not worry too much. It is such a unique place. But yes, overpriced for the locals. By the way, are there good restaurants to take children to? Or bigger groups, like more than 4 people? I know a lot of restaurants in Tokyo are meant for smaller groups. So maybe sometimes it’s challenging for the tourists to find good places which will accept them.

Thank you for the very good video. I was last in Tsukiji this march, and for me, its gotten too touristy. At almost all the stalls/shops that looked good, people were queuing. For example, I really like Tamagoyaki, but waiting in line for at least 30 minutes for a piece of it on a stick, seemed too much for me. I got oyster, wagyu with uni and a tuna kaisendon without queuing, which was good. But overall, too many people, and I dont know if I will return there (I will certainly return to Tokyo). P.S. of course I know that I am also a tourist ;-).
@@swissfoodie3542 As said it's tooooo busy right now.... It was really tough to film in Tsukiji. I took couple of days to film food. I don't think I want to have food in Tsukiji because I guess same reason you have. Takosenbei is good but this is really hard to get it.... We can also have this in Enoshima where is part of Kanagara prefecture. if you want only Takosenbei, I guess it's better to go Enoshima.
Lovely video. In personally find that Tsukiji is too crowded with tourists and prices reflect that. Last time i went there was a good couple years ago when the market was still there. Walking around the market after the morning auctions ended was a great experience.
@@foodinjapan2256 Yes, at the time I was only a visitor in Japan and a lovely Japanese friend woke up at 5am to guide me around the market area. We only found out once we got there that they don't let the public in so early :D Now I also live in Japan, but must admit I have not been there in ages. and Pssst don't tell anyone but I actually can't eat most fish :D:D

I don't go travel spot so often except for filming. Japanese people know more reasonable and local restaurants or local Japanese chains but those are not really good for youtube videos.... so local people (including myself) tend to visit more reasonable restaurants or restaurants that are close to home I guess.

Which fish market do you recommend in Tokyo?
We have Toyosu, Ota market in Tokyo but the most interesting one is Tsukiji former fish market, then Toyosu fish market would be the second I think.
