How To Install Shimano STI Lever Hoods

In this video, I demonstrate the process of installing new Shimano Ultegra 6800 STI lever hoods. The process is basically the same for any Shimano or SRAM dual control brake/shift lever.

How do you do it if the gear cable is coming out the side?

You either want the gear cable connected and adjusted or no gear cable installed. It it's installed and adjusted correctly, it won't be protruding out of the side.

I don’t get how I get them on with the cable coming out the side. All videos on RUclips have no cable

The shift cable typically has to be removed temporarily to get the hood on a shifter with the side exit cable.
