  • Dirty ice machines are nothing new but this Manitowoc ice machine was in one of the dirtiest locations I've seen yet! Yes...In a metal stamping facility on the production floor!. With no place suitable for the cleaning or operation of the machine makes this a interesting service call. Try to ignore the banging noise, I tried to remove it best as possible with the EQ in post production.

Reminds me of our maintenance barn manitowoc. Barn doors and cracked windows less than 50 yards away from the dirt track. Ambient air anywhere from 35-95 degrees. The supply water line runs outside and has halfassed insulation. Only thing good about it is the ice is used is used to chill canned drinks or horses!

Pre-Indigo ice thickness probes can sometimes cause false harvests if there’s still some ice machine cleaner on it.
I always use a mild detergent and warm water after I descale those. Thorough rinse and we’re good to go.
Those old SY machines are just fine. I’ve installed a few of the new NXT machines, and the quality doesn’t seem all the way there.
I don’t know about you, but so many of my service calls are no ice symptoms due to false Full Bin/ice damper catching on evaporator (on the dual units).
I never had to deal with that on the SY machines.

Those are the words I've learned to hate. "Oh, Wait! Before You Leave!" It's along with being grabbed by someone when you show up and they demand that you fix THEIR problem - which you had no clue about, you're not there for, and it's not part of your time budget. Then they throw hissy fits and will complain to the higher-ups that you didn't fix their problem - and of course, you're never believed because WHY would their employees lie like that.
