Haha! The Rick Dalton cameo... chef's kiss! And where else could you find out these homicidal fuzzballs were made out of latex and moose hair!? A totally awesome episode Anthony, I was looking forward to this and it was all the awesome I've come to expect from FDT. Of all the 80s diminutive creature features, Critters was my favourite. It is a lot of fun and had enough little quirks to make it a success despite the low budget. I haven't seen it for years but I think now is as good a time as any to put it on and revisit that glorious era of zany movies. Thanks man, have a great week ahead.
Hey Greg! Yeah man, stuff like this got me into horror and horror / comedy. There's a bunch of nostalgia there, but it's always a nice surprise when I revisit these and they hold up beyond just being nostalgic. I appreciate the kind words, have a good one bro! 🤜 🤛
There's no topping Gremlins for me either....this one, or maybe the sequel may be my 2nd place, not sure. Thanks for checking in Charles, have a good one!
Almost as terrifying as Ugly Sonic? That's pretty darn terrifying. But I am a sucker for 80s mini-monster movies. Critters was a favorite of mine as a lad. And Ug was my favorite character. I really would have liked to see that character expanded into his own space adventure films. Also, seeing E.T. torn apart? That's time well spent just for that right there. Another great video, Ant-Man. The humor and cutaways are a really nice touch.
Heeeey Rob, I feel like I have not seen Critters come up too often so I am glad to see others have some love it. Good to hear from you man & thanks for the kind words. Have a good one! 👊
Hey AdorkableRJ, thanks for checking in. Yeah this was pretty early in Grimes' career. I was reading up some trivia on him, his work in Orville being one item and the other was that he was the voice of Steve Smith on American Dad. Pretty cool.
Ricky! Wassup bro always a pleasure. I have a soft spot for part 2, but the rest went downhill as I recall. Be well man, thanks for popping in & have a great weekend. 🤜🤛
Heating up that thermometer, that little Rascal!! Haha. This one is fantastic! I always thought the idea of shape shifting Bounty Hunters was always neat. Moose hair?! Interesting. Its great seeing this get a well drserved rating :).
I love this movie. My cousins and I would always pretend we were the bounty hunters hunting Critter’s in our grandparents basement. Love your movie reviews. Can’t wait for your next Twilight Zone episode.
WW! Wassup man. I appreciate the kind words. Your vids have inspired me to add some short animations. My oldest has been doing some for me (the quickie at the end of this vid). Hope you've been well and thanks for popping in!
@@FeverDreamlandTheater - that’s awesome. That critter animation he did at the end looks great. Tell him good job. If you or he ever need any animation for from me for an intro or ad, let me know. Maybe we can do a cross over in the future or something.
Love your rewind reviews Anthony! Didn't realize you had a new one out 😃 I love a good creature feature and this looks like SO much fun... I really need to go back to the 80's and check some of these movies out.
Love Critters!! Dee Wallace is my favourite movie mom too. And glad you showed Hobgoblins, you should review that one also. These are so fun, will be cool to watch these with your kids down the road if you haven’t already. Your channel has become a show to me, the videos are so well put together and entertaining. Have a great weekend Anthony!
Heeeey Karen! Hobgoblins is one the most 80's movies ever 😁 I'm surprised to see more people are aware of that one, I always thought it was one of the more obscure little monster flicks. Thank you for the kind words, always appreciated. Have a good weekend ahead!
Enjoyed your review Anthony. Small little crazy fur balls. I always liked when they all combine to become huge. Always on point when you add movie clips.
It occurred to me I hadn't yet watched your review of the first film, so I came here to ammend that. And at this point, I'm presently ordering the collection of the first four films. Awesome review and such a great refresher on a wonderfully fun film!
Thanks Gory Rory! Yeah between this original one and the sequel they are tied for me. I love both of them for different reasons. That is awesome you are getting the full set! Perfect for a marathon watch. Take care!
I love the Crites. Odd that we got that direct to video movie and stream series at the same time and then seemingly nothing since. Good review. I didn't realize it was on tubi. Might be time for a rewatch for me
Hey wassup interwebkaiju! I have not seen the series yet, they seem a little different in tone but to be fair I have to give them a shot. Much thanks for checking in, have a good one!
I remember loving this movie as a kid. I _thiiiiiink_ i loved 2 and 3 as well? It's odd that as a kid i enjoyed horror movies and then as i grew up i stopped being into it, and now that I'm in my 40's my tastes are shifting back but I'm not much of a fan of monsters and little creatures that eat people alive. Nowadays I'm much more into existential horror that deals with the plight of the human condition vs an infinite universe that doesn't even acknowledge or presence. But there's still charm in an old fashioned creature feature.
Hey Glenn, I hear you. I'm pretty open to trying most anything, especially when it comes to horror. I'll watch the classics, gritty 70's films, 80' slashers, shlocky b-movies, existential horror ... it's all good. Have a good one!
Critters cracked me up when I was a kid. I've only seen the first Critters and Critters 3. I didn't know so many sequels were made😂. Nice that you mentioned Hobgoblins have you seen part 2? 😂😂😂😂
Heeeey wassup Nye! I think I first saw Hobgoblins on MST3K. 😂 I know there is a direct-to-video Hobgoblins sequel but I haven't seen that one. Critters 2 I did see, in the theater actually. Really liked it back then. At the moment Critters 1-4 are all on tubi.
This is one of those movies I didn't get to enjoy as a kid. I never really sought out creature features even though I had a lot of fun with Gremlins and of course Jaws. But I'm glad I finally watched it as an adult, the creature design is so much fun! The Chiodo Bros always do their damn thing. I still need to check out the sequels though. And as always, I love all of the behind the scenes stuff we learned in this video. I hope you're having a wonderfully wicked Wednesday!
Heeey wassup Rainbow, much thanks for checking this one out. The Chiodo Bros are awesome...love their work, and they are from the BX! Have a great weekend ahead.
Adding a comment to help out the algorithm. Horror of any and every kind was not my thing growing up. The stupid theme music of all those 'scarey' tv shows/movies was enough to send me running to change the channel (back in the days before tv remotes - yeah I'm that old). Even the corney stuff was a big nope. As I have aged, I've found much more nuance in my viewing life, hence my now love of Twilight Zone, and other more thinking horror. You still won't get me to watch Halloween or Nightmare or Texas Chainsaw or Saw etc etc etc, but I have made a date with my best friend to go see the new Renfield movie, because vampires were always fascinating to me...but then again, I grew up with the best good guy vampire ever, Barnabus Collins from Dark Shadows. Side Rant - Forget the movie, it kinda sucks, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp went too far overboard with the weird...the TV show worked in my humble opinion because it was always played straight and the normal family was normal and Barnabus acted normally too, even as someone far out of time. And the pancake makeup was too much, too Kabuki, to allow folks not to make a big deal out of Barnabas. He wasn't scary or weird until he was, and his look was of a gentleman who was old fashioned, and otherwise could blend into the population without comment. The people ignoring the crazy make-up just made everyone look stupid and took me out of the suspension of disbelief. Rant over. Anyways, since vampires are often the most noble of the monsters, well, they never scared me and I just wanted for things to work out well for them. In essence, to me, vampires didn't count in the no scary stuff box. So I'd love to see you review some vampire stuff - not Twilight, unless you need the bump, or unless you find the need to extoll and/or castigate overwhelming. Are you willing to branch out into the fantasy genre? Lots to cover there, but if not your thing, I respect that. Finally, while I really don't want or need to see any more of those critters, I can see why you enjoy them and I appreciate the alternate viewpoint. May I recommend Plan 9 from Outer Space??? The movie is so bad it's hysterical. The shlock movie, the turkey by which all others are judged. Anyways, I've hijacked your comments enough. See you next time!
Ha, ha no hijacking at all Marie, always glad to hear from you. Hope you enjoyed Renfield. Plan 9 from Outer Space sounds like an awesome idea! Or any thing vampire related...other than Fright Night there are a few I have been considering. Have a good day!
@@FeverDreamlandTheater if I may recommend several in a certain order? First, a twofer: Nosferatu with Shadow of the Vampire. A hell of a double feature, but go with the original movie first and treat the mockumentary as the behind the scenes film it's pretending to be. Then Dracula with Bela himself. Another RUclipsr has done a long video on various Dracula films, and even unearthed the Spanish version of Bela's Dracula, shot simultaneously with the American version, same script, but Hispanic actors in all the roles, so not a dub or a sub...the other channel even thought that the Spanish version the equal of the Lugosi version, so pretty cool. Then I'd do Camilla and Dracula's Daughter...the female vamps don't get enough love. Then, the world's your oyster.
Watched a few weeks ago with my kids (they're just getting into horror). Still a fun watch. Interesting info about the puppets (moose hair!). Great vid. See ya buddy
