    Nice work!
Big Hue home user here but just picked up the Twinkly string. The color mapping is a killer feature that is hard to compete with for Hue at their price point. One thing I noticed on the Twinkly is the quality of the colors is fairly average. I haven’t found anyone else comparing as well as you have so if you do a followup, maybe try to compare more colors, along with the white colors. I have a feeling the Hue should do better for colors of white. Twinkly seems to struggle on the warmer white.

Thanks for letting me know! We stuck to Hue for our tree specifically for the warm whites and because we already have the full Hue system so it plays so nicely. I do need to do another video as I want to share the upgraded light options with Hue as well so I'll keep this in mind! I know I won't be able to accurately record the differences in color, but I can attempt to match them in real life and talk through it as they certainly do have different colorways.
Right now I'm unsure how to even do a comparison video as my family has drawn the line at me adding a second Christmas tree to the house!

Is this with the latest Hue Festavia firmware applied? I thought they have more effects now with the latest light firmware from last month.
At least the other lamps/lights have more effects now.
For example the sunshine and underwater related effects are missing, which would be between Sparkly and Loops inside the effects list.

oooooh! There was a new version available.! It now has Candle, Fireplace, Glisten, Sparkle, Wavy, Cosmos, Sunbeam, Enchant, Prism, and Opal. I'm going to have to make another video 😂 That's awesome though. Thanks for the catch.

Ok but can you use twinkle without being at home like Philips ?

Yep. They also connect to wifi so you can adapt them when away from home. Here is my breakdown on the twinkly lights starting at connecting to wifi: ruclips.net/video/3wBW5EVC4ms/видео.htmlsi=UkkTiKin8p4J0lq7&t=59

you say Twinkly is not easy or simple to setup? you just throw 1, 2 or 10 sets of strings on your tree, you dont really have to do any effort to systematically place them. Then do the mapping with the phones camera, and after 3 minutes you are done and you have access to 40 pre-configured themes... thats pretty simple in my book. True that the app allows for even more customization but you dont have to. Otherwise great comparison, thank you :)

I agree that it is simple and even simpler in some ways (like adding to the tree)! But I spent years doing residential tech support where I'd go to homes and help people set-up whatever tech they were having troubles with and then teach them how to do it themselves...and I know I'd have to explain a lot more with the Twinkly app to all my past clients than I would with Philips Hue. That's how I look at it.

Would you be able to review the Philips Hue Festavia vs the Twinkly Pro

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  20 дней назад

I think Twinkly PRO is beyond my ability! It's meant for large-scale (aka full building) professional light installations. And unless I buy it from a small 3rd party reseller, it looks like Twinkly doesn't sell it without business consultations.
This set of Twinkly string lights is the latest set of string lights designed for the end consumer and you can connect multiple sets together to make a larger scale design. And while it isn't as durable, big, or bright as Twinkly Pro, I actually prefer that the lights are spaced closer together as that's much better for residential applications.
Sorry that I cannot do the comparison you are looking for.

My twinkly seems way better made than what you are showing.... Compared to bog standard they are well made.... Philips hue is good but maybe over engineered. The cost is way more.

Funny. I just bought this set of Twinkly last week. It’s the newest generation. It is well made. And Philips hue probably is over engineered 😂 and definitely at a much higher price point!

Yeah, the price difference will be substantial as you add on more lights around your house and garden. Got Twinkly this year and love the customization it offers, lot of nice black Friday offers aswell 😂
