Thanks guys, I had so much fun making this and they truly are a fantastic product. They were super easy to set up (I didn’t have to retake anything!) and they have truly raised my Christmas Tree game to the top level!
Just bought the same config! Half of me is thinking should I have gone for 2 x 400 for a 7.5ft tree - what’s your opinion having owned it? Keep up the videos :)
Hey man great edit camera setting were awesome. Really interested in these light I’ve seen a few reviews on them now and considering getting some for 2022. Can the app control more than one set of lights or string of lights at a time with different effects? For example if there were two sets connected together on a tree out the front of a house and then another two or three sets connected together laid out across the span of a house could you have one display on the tree and a different display across the house? Thanks , also, love the drinks mug👊
Great Video - looking at getting these. Just a question though. The 400 and 250 are not linked together but are synced together in the App - is this correct? Thank you
@Adamytsu it does. Unless you get satellite wifi. Cable companies won't drop line without a specific number of houses with in a square area. Using Hotspot is not reliable.
Very nice video! How tall is the tree? We usually buy about 180 cm (6 ft) tall tree and I'm not sure, what string size should I buy 250 or 400? I have found some table on Twinkly website which says 250 would be ok, but 400 much better :) What do you think?
Thanks! The tree is 7ft and I used 650 lights in total. I would say for 6ft tree 400 would be good. The lights are quite close together, so they look quite dense and you get through the string fast as you're installing them, so for a largish 6ft tree, I'd say 400 would be better than 250. If you are putting the tree in a corner or against a wall and don't need lights around the back, then 250 may be enough. Either way it's still going to look great! I hope you enjoy them! Thanks for watching.
@@jakudo So glad you bought them and are enjoying them! Honestly these are the best lights I ever had. Every day I’m creating new scenes and really loving matching the tree to my mood - when I want something striking, or cosy, full on or calm!
Yeah 400 will still be decent. If you want it to be really densely lit you could add another set, but tbh I sometimes feel 600 is too much for my 7ft tree. Also depends a bit on placement of the tree. If it’s not visible from all sides, you can save some lights from the rear parts and used them just on the front and sides. I would say 400 will still give you a great effect.
Excellent video. Thanks for making this. Although I am confused why you are calling them “fairy” lights when the proper name is Christmas lights. What’s up with that?
Haha OK that must be a UK only thing. We call any little lights on a string “fairy lights” here in UK! It comes from their first use in the Savoy Theatre London in 1882 on the dresses of the fairies in the opening show at the theatre. Small electric lights were invented so they could be used as part of the costumes on stage. That’s how the term was coined. So it’s very much connected to a historical event in London and I guess that’s why the name stuck here and not anywhere else! You can read more about it here www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/history-fairy-light-been-unearthed-14048912.amp
Sorry to hear that, get in touch with the retailer you bought them from once the holidays are over and they’ll replace them. I had a few bulbs on my icicles drop colours I think because they were in the sun on a couple of warm days. They swapped them no problem. Enjoy your tree!
I recently bought my set of 250 lights online from John Lewis, as they were £5 cheaper than the other sellers; plus, free next-day delivery (on a Sunday) to my local Waitrose! Now all Twinkly need to do (apart from even more effects!) is to produce a minature set of lights for men with epic beards!!
Great to know regarding John Lewis. And you also get a 2 year warranty when buying from JL which is great for tech. They were sold out when I looked early but great they got more in. A miniature battery pack version would be epic. Can you imagine?! I would map my beard and have a sparkle or maybe some stripes!
@@joebyvictor2619 Just catching up! I noticed on Christmas Day that Argos had the 250 bulb set reduced to £70 but, of course, there are none available in my area or for delivery. Yesterday a store in West London supposedly had stock and there may be in other parts of the country. I bought another set for £80 inc. P&P on Ebay yesterday!
@@nickk6518 Most large garden centres that stock Twinkly, usually sell them at half-price from about the 23rd/24th Dec onwards. I've just bought the 600 rgb ones for £100 (instead of £200) to go with my existing board-mounted 250 rgb and 400 aww's. I know they're a lot of money initially but boy oh boy, you do get lots of great comments from passing people and they look soooo cool! ;)
@@davidreynolds3082 That was a fantastic buy. Just the luck of the draw, I guess. I just checked my local garden centre and although they have the lights in stock, they are not in the 50% sale. I did see that John Lewis have dropped their price in store of the 250s to £66.50, just hoping I can get another set from the Kingston Store! The 250s are quite effective as spokes of a wheel, 25 spokes of 10 lights each.
Yes super easy. You add each one to the app separately and then you simply join them into a group in the app - takes seconds and then you name the group and they will behave as one set with no indication they’re are multiple sets. You can then add the group to HomeKit etc and control as one device. Enjoy your lights!
Hey Adrián, no I’ve actually not tried it… TBH I haven’t really thought about it, but now I am! I think if you play a lot of music where you’ll have the lights, it could be really awesome… I’ll do some research and maybe test on a video for you guys!
Special edition is RGB + Warm white. Basically you have an extra element in the LED blurb that is pure white rather than the colder white you get from mixing the RGB elements. They allow you to have that classic warm white Christmas look. The standard non-special edition can still produce a white-ish light, but it’s not pure as it is mix of the 3 colours and looks colder. I bought the special edition as they were only about £20 more and I figured you essentially get an extra set of lights. Another benefit of having the additional white element is that you can make the lights really bright when using all the elements (RGB + W). I don't think they're callled special edition any more, just RGB +vW
Thanks Joeby! Your video and review are super ✨🎄
