Nice video. One thing I will say, despite being IP44 rated, I wouldn't risk using them outdoors if your country endures any rainfall. I had a set of Twinkly string lights outdoors, and they began to fail after an evening of rain. When I looked at the lights, the bulbs had rust inside of them due to water ingress. It's exactly the same problem with cheaper LED string lights.. IP44 outdoor lights are a waste of time. It's better to spend money on a higher quality IP68 set of lights.

One thing I want to see is a video comparing the RGB+W versus just the RGB model. The price difference is somewhat substantial, especially since you must decide before investing or they won't sync up. I actually ordered the RGB+W 400 string and they wouldn't power on. It was a gift for my wife and had to fight with them to return it since it was beyond the 30 days or whatever. Once we got the refund, we ordered the RGB 600 which worked.

I have 4 sets of the RGB+W, a 600 set, and three sets of 400.

Is it ok to overlap the lights, or do I have to do 2 different layers (bottom half & top half) for the 7ft tree, and for the 14ft tree, start at the bottom and work my way to the top with the six different strands? The big tree will be much easier to decorate if I can overlap different strands! Thanks again for a great video!

There isn't just one Twinkly tree that has built LEDs. There are a few with different set of LEDs on them. Built LED one is very easy to setup. The only major complaint that I have read is that sections seem to stop working. The most common size is seven feet. Hanging your own LEDs allows you to buy a nice looking tree that you specifically like. It of course will take longer to setup. Also I would recommend 600 LEDs for a seven foot one and obviously more for a taller tree. Hope that helps.

My wife and I have been searching for exterior lights that we can control the patterns of the individual bulbs (for example: 2 red then 2 green for Christmas, 3 yellow then 3 purple for LSU football, 1 yellow then 1 green then 1 purple for Mardi Gras, etc.) via an iPhone app. Have you guessed yet that we live in Louisiana? :-) We need to be able to have one run of at least 150' from one source of power. We have searched and searched Amazon and eBay, but nothing seems to fit our requirements. But the lights in your video appear to be exactly what we've been searching for, if in fact we can program them via the app in the manner I described above. So can you please confirm that these would do what we need them to do? Many thanks in advance for your time!

I have had Twinkly 4 chains (Special Edition RGBW) of the 2nd generation and the USB music stick for 3 years. The chains are really beautiful. Only the Android app is absolutely useless and complete crap. Starting the app takes up to 30 seconds and then it has to compile the effects for the selected chain. This happens every time you switch to a different chain. The 2D mapping works rather badly than well and the 3D mapping, as well as access to the effect store, doesn't work at all, since there is supposedly no internet available.
However, the chains can only be controlled via the app if you are connected to the compulsory account via the Internet. The app carries out a real inventory of the entire network in which it is logged in and taps all IP addresses of the router via UDP port 5556. And this happens constantly every second and consumes a lot of data volume and battery power of the mobile phone.
The USB music stick only produces a nervous flickering of the chains
    and is absolutely useless.
The chains cannot represent a clean color, e.g. with white you always see some other colors flashing in between.
Inquiries to customer service come to nothing at Twinkly and are not answered.
To top it off, since the penultimate update, I've also received advertising in the app, even though I spent around €700 more on the necklaces and the USB music stick.
Therefore Twinkly is the last garbage for me and I will switch to another LED system.

Pretty cool tech but since they first launched a couple years back, waaaaayyy overpriced. I guess the companies target buyers are the "upper class".

Yeah, it usually starts at high rates and gets more affordable over time when there's more competing tech brands 😄

You can get it most places you buy tech stuff! I got it from my local Norwegian tech store 😀

Seriously? Reviews with affiliate links in the description are completely untrustworthy. You should be happy because this was a totally unbiased review 👍

    Who ate you fooling...
The music plug device absolutely SUCKS and is not worth it.
This is well known unless your getting paid for your video or the merchandise itself.

Who are you, to talk on behalf of the general population? It has 4.2 of 5 star reviews on Amazon (821 reviews currently) and my local store has it at 4 of 5 stars (21 reviews). I myself enjoy it, and I think it is better than both my Hue and LifX music sync features. So sounds like your just having a bad day, so relax and take a deep breath :)

Oh, I'm sad to hear you feel that way. I'm not affiliated with Twinkly, this is my honest opinion about their products. I'm happy with Twinkly Music and it's always what visitors compliments when I throw my yearly Christmas party ☺️
