Nice, succinct tutorial. I’ve been using the Camera Control a lot and really like it. There’s a bit of an initial learning curve, but once muscle memory takes over it’s quite a useful tool, especially for those who are more serious about photography. Looking forward to the upcoming “soft press to focus lock” function.
I got the 16 PM on 09/20 and I haven’t use Camera Control once. I already set the Action Button to camera on my 15PM and Action Button is 0.5 click (just hold) while Camera Control is 2 clicks (it open the camera on 2nd release) from screen off which is way longer. Trying to change setting or take photo with Camera Control also takes way longer because everything is 3 clicks away while screen is 1 to 2 clicks away Apple really is falling behind Chinese phones
I don't know if this will continue into other models be adopted by other manufacturers, put for me the idea of a kind of scroll wheel type button just to replace the power button would be a cool idea
I mean for real…do you think the camera button was necessary? Fastest way is to click on camera from Lock Screen or swipe over to take a pic. I don’t think it needed to be there.
@@peterwilliams2889 do you feel pretty good about that one? Did that bring you comfort and make your day? I hope so Peter…. Why are you the way you are?? This is an open friendly conversation.
No one cares what you think. Do you really believe that someone is going to read your comment and NOT buy a new iPhone 16? MKBHD beats up the iPhone in every video he does. Apple was the trend setter when it came to phones. Go back and look at what phones used to look like before the iPhone was introduced and what they look like after. EVERYONE copied the iPhone. It is by no means a friendly conversation.
I don’t know why nobody mentioned this, but the camera control button might be Apple’s experiment with haptic buttons. In the future apple might replace all other physical buttons with haptic ones, as rumours have already suggested.
For someone like me who have sweaty fingers during my daily runs, finally I do not have the touch the screen to activate camera or change camera modes. Like seriously I’ve struggled for so long to start or stop a video recording mid-run cause the screen just doesn’t recognise my wet finger taps.
I’m really struggling with this control. It seems to always open on a zoom slider. I never zoom like that - I only use the native zooms (I.e. 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0). In this video I can see you’ve got those options but without the full zoom slider between them. What am I doing wrong? Why can’t I find this option? 🤔
I really love the camera control button, but I despise the controls built into it. Anytime I try to take a photo I get a weird zoom. I had to disable the light presses so that it is a one function shutter button, that's it. No hokey fake magic. ;)
While the camera button is gimmicky, it’s a welcome addition from apple. Now androids will start copying apple and camera button will be everywhere from now on (just like removing headphone jack). The ones benefitting from this are fps gamers. Shooting with camera button as trigger will be massive upgrade for mobile fps gaming.
If you press and hold, a video starts recording. That's called QuickTake. As long as you hold it, the video records. Once you release, the video stops. Or you can tap the circle on the screen to continue recording without holding. Alternatively, you can also just switch it into video mode and then press and release to start recording.
They need to add extra buttons to the iPhone, even though their philosophy has always been to remove buttons. I'm sure Jony Ive would have had a different approach. However, Apple is lacking so much innovation on the iPhone that they are actually reversing their philosophy by adding more buttons, like an "Action button" and a "Camera Control button." Of course, these are haptic buttons, but they are still adding extra components instead of taking them away, as Apple usually would
@@AppleInsider Can you tap that circle on the screen while taking the "QuickTake" so it doesn't interrupt my recording? An example... a bird appears in front of me that I instantly want to record. I use the quicktake and hold the button to record but the bird is still sitting there and I don't want to hold that button anymore... because I would like to zoom also... is there a way to keep recording the video that started out as a quicktake without stopping it? Can I take my finger away somehow?! Maybe by clicking on the circle ?
So I just got the phone today and I personally love the button just adds something new it’s very convenient when you get used to it and doesn’t negatively affect the phone in any way. I was already gonna get the phone either way so to me it’s great, the button doesn’t bother me
The new camera BUTTON is a totally worthless gimmick from Apple in an attempt for Apple to appear like they are innovating and grab more money. I typically upgrade every year but this year I’m sticking with my 15 Pro and I am not going to be getting the 16 series. As a matter of fact, this move by Apple with their stupid button, has me seriously looking at Samsung, specifically the soon to be released Galaxy 25 Ultra.
16 ProMax with most recent 18.0 camera button usually causes an instant camera crash and springboard crash. Camera app will instantly crash when opened from the touchscreen too afterwards and only way I’ve found to fix is rebooting. Wondering if I got a hardware or software issue. After reboot it works as advertised for a while but after several hours problem reappears. After the crash the iPhone gets warm too, not hot but noticeably warm.
Your comment is two weeks old, could you please update me, if anything changed yet? I've read about this problem several times but there has to be an update that is fixing this?! Hopefully. I am about to receive my pro max.

Also that all of those controls are just as easily accessible on the screen. This camera button is nothing more than a redundant gimmick! I much prefer the ease of use of my iPhone 15 Pro, and difference in photo quality is so minimal it would be a real stretch to call it an upgrade of any merit. I’m sticking with my 15 Pro.
