When I was a host, 90% of the bookings were coming through my website so potential guests didn't have any reviews. Then I didn't care when Airbnb clients had no reviews there, I only checked if they had bad reviews. I used to ask everyone the same questions and I sometimes got extensive answers. So nice !
Oh, interesting - direct booking? Sounds like your site was a success. Did/do you have more than one listing? I've always wondered if it was worth the effort for just one listing. Thanks for commenting! :)
Direct booking was the best way because I had no fees. Airbnb charged me 3% and Booking 17% but most of my bookings were direct. Nowadays those websites are so big that it is impossible for a small website owner to stand out. Until maybe 2012/2013 I was in the first Google results. Now I'm not in the business anymore but I'm grateful for those great 15 years. With my few "colleagues" we felt we we were pioneers and hotels didn't like us 😂 (I'm a former receptionist)
Thank you for this! I just launched my Airbnb and I'm immediately receiving requests. My goodness, I should've started doing this years ago. Anyhow, I was nervous of this very thing and my third request was for someone with no reviews and no profile details. Maybe they are too busy to complete it but no reviews is a little sketchy. I sent them your message. I will see if they respond. I am also a landlord so not having any reviews/referrals on someone makes me nervous...
Fingers crossed they respond! Yes, we also regret just not starting way earlier - but that’s okay, ours has been going well for three years now, it’s really great. Good luck!!!
Thanks for watching! If you’re a host, too, how do you manage people who are new to Airbnb?
