    That's an eye-opener. My pond is 0.12 acres (450m²) and a grass carp supplier said I need x50 fingerlings to clear my Elodea. My gut feeling was that he was wrong and this proves it.

    Maybe there is a different kind of carp cause I know for a fact carp reproduce in a farm pond. But I trust the Missouri department of conservation so I guess I need to learn more about my "facts".

      Diploid carp don't reproduce with each other, if released from the pond and exposed to non diploids they can breed. Triploid grass carp, the most commonly sold type, are unable to reproduce even with other wild carp.
