Then we're talking all about how to layer your hair care products. In hair care we have serums and creams and mousses and hairspray and detanglers and gels and pomades and oils and dry shampoos and leave in conditioners and the list goes on! It can be overwhelming, so let's talk about the 9 main categories of styling products and my favorites for each. We're talking OUAI and Kevin Murphy and Aveda and Shu Uemura and Kristin Ess and of course my favorite, JVN Hair! We'll also go through my hair care routine depending on what I want to do - and talk through what hair care routines you should do for your hair type from 1a to 4c!

Man, you crack me up! And while you make me laugh, you've also convinced me to tie my hair with a silk scrunchie at night, coat my hair with water and conditioner before going to the pool, ditching coconut oils, not bleaching my entire head, not chopping off my hair on a fad... etc. If only your products shipped to New Zealand... I love, love, love JVN Hair products. Honestly, I own most of the line and I will never purchase anything else. My hair has never looked better and it’s increased my confidence immensely. Yes! I've been waiting for this video. I always do leave in conditioner, heat protectant spray, and finish with a styling cream (brushing through between each step)
Did the pre shampoo oil, shampoo, hair mask, then mist, serum and blowout milk. I have thin fine straight hair just past shoulder length. I am obsessed with these products. My hair is fluffy and so soft and silky and not weighed down. Anytime I have layered products it leaves my hair feeling heavy and sticky. Obsessed. Can’t wait to shower and wash my hair again!

Number one thank you for detailing the purpose of all your products. I did not know that air-dry cream was a styling product. Also I think I found the missing link in my hair care. I need a serum for my ends. I do all the things you're supposed to do to protect you hair and I'm still constantly dealing with really rough and dry split and that I have to trim every two or three months.

First off I have very finicky hair it likes nothing. I just tried JVN air dry cream and JVN volumizing conditioner, I've been dying to try your products, Im 52 and now my hair looks like I'm 30 again. I love the price point thanks so much youre a lifesaver!!!!!❤❤❤❤

Thank you for explaining how everything works. Especially the dry shampoo, I was using that for a while to try to limit hair loss when I would wash, had no ideas it should have been brushed through to distribute. I would have had a much easier time with it. ❤️

As a no-frills impatient person, I don't see myself ever layering more than two products. I'm a bit intimidated by a lot of this! So my challenge will be to find a really knowledgeable hair stylist to transform my fine hair into a gorgeous, stable yet preferably soft updo when I get married. Fingers crossed 🤞

This is so helpful. Product descriptions tend to be pretty unhelpful: vague at best or inscrutability poetic at worst. (And don’t get me started on “For your best hair day ever, work through hair and style as usual.”). For folks who are doing wavy/curly styling, Lina’s Lovely Locks has a great series on product categories in that context.

I always go from detailing spray, shine oil, then a styling cream when layering.
Firstly, I am in love with the instant recovery serum. I’m sure my friends and family think I’m in some cult - I bang on about it so much. So I’m going to need you to release it in 2 litre bottles 🙏
Secondly, I have been cocktailing the air dry cream and shine drop oil for a while now but didn’t want to admit it in case you got cranky with me. So happy to see you suggest it and endorse it because I’ve found it to be the best way to finish my styling.
Thirdly, please tell me the Embody Foam is coming to Australia soon. I have massive FOMO and have considered paying the ridiculous mark up prices to get it shipped from the US

It's like you read my mind. I wondered about using other products and what your thoughts were on the topic. I didn't want to use products that weren't JVN because in this weird way, I felt like I would be "cheating" on you, and I could not bring myself to do it. Whew! Now I feel better. Are texture sprays and spray wax used for the same thing? Which one is best?
QUESTION: what if we have very long hair, and the bottoms dry extremely quickly while the top remains sopping wet? The bottom curls seem to dry out before I can distribute product, and my 3A curls get frizzy because they are already almost dry by the time I am out of the shower and working product through 😢 LOVED THIS VIDEO ❤❤❤ and I adore the JVN products! I own all of the stylers except the mousse!
Hey! When would the heat protector be used then?
One thing I've found with my long history with leave-in-conditioners, is that even if something says it's for curly hair - read the back of it, because sometimes it's just the moisture I need for my super long, color-treated hair. And, it will say that on the back of a lot of curl-specific products. Good for color-treated hair too, not just curly.

So if I wash my hair at night, but want it to air dry so less heat applied, but in the morning am going to heat style it, when should I use the recovery serum or styling milk? my cousin always gets asked about her natural hair and she can never give advice because she cocktails all her products to point where she doesnt know what's in the cocktail anymore. She scares me but it works
When I worked at Aveda, sometimes I would cocktail, and the guests would act like I was doing some kind of magic on them 😅

I thought the instant recovery serum, being a primer, essentially would go first then the leave in conditioning mist! That's how I've been doing it for months! 🤦🏻♀️ I mean it's been working fine just now I gotta try it the other way. 😂🤷🏻♀️

I use the serum as a gel for a slick back look. I don’t like hair gel. This doesn’t flak and controls my hair.

Can you make a hairspray? I love your products and I haven't found a good hairspray. The biggest issue is the smell. If you can make a odorless or neutral smelling hairspray, I would be eternally grateful. I have fine 2A hair but a lot of it. Hairspray is essential for any kind of style.
