I loved this episode! It is interesting the guest mentioned emulsifiers being bad for our gut health while majority of products from Huel which are advertised here contains them.
When I reduced the plant, fibre and carbs in my diet, my IBS went away and my poop became more consistent, stomach cramps disappeared. Fibre is more likely to damage the delicate nature of the intestines and flush nutrients out before you can absorb them. While we need a healthy gut flora, we are not ruminants nor hind gut fermentors like chimps or gorillas, our main digestion is done through enzymes and bile rather than bacteria.
I have to point out that she is such a lovely person. The way she begins her conversation with a generous compliment and a bit of excitement just brightens the entire atmosphere! 💖
This woman is AMAZING, I could listen to her all day. She speaks so warmly whilst coming across as completely authoritative in all things diet/gut and general well-being. I got so much out of this interview even though I consider myself quite healthy/knowledgeable. I want to be her friend and hang out - what a joyful energy she has 🥰 thank you
I assume you are being sarcastic. Well done. 👍 Well known is the maxim, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Ladies and Gentle men - just look at Sophies image. Trim taut and terrific? I don't think so, but she would always insist "I have always been a big girl." Of course dear, you ate the wrong things since forever.
I love your work Ali, but having health experts on podcasts is always so dangerous because it’s so easy for them to make claims that are simply wrong. I’m sure Sophie is a wonderful person, but she made several over-generalized claims that can give people bad information. For example she said there’s essential no value in intermittent fasting. I know you respect Andrew Huberman and he just had Dr. Panda on who spoke for 2 hours about the research-based, evidence-backed claims of the benefits of fasting. Sophie seems like a legit expert but she went way out of her lane many times on this podcast. Health claims are complex and we have to be really specific about what we are saying and the evidence for and against. Things are often way more complicated than the broad strokes Sophie made. Digging into the complexity of a single health claim could easily take 20-30 minutes on a podcast. Quick yes and no answers aren’t ideal. Still, love your work Ali. Just be wary of having health experts on - it’s a difficult to tightrope to walk.
I second this bro, there’s too many studies out there, where significant benefits are happening in the body, whilst one is fasting, such as recovery of damaged cells.
Totally agree with this. If she was so under-informed about fasting, it seems likely that she was under informed on other claims she made also. The one thing she said that I agree with is the criticism she levelled at everyone else, that we don’t know what we don’t know. Pity she couldn’t see that that applies equally to herself.
If a person is willfully giving bad advice and leading people to a lifetime of ill health, that person IS NOT wonderful. This woman is a threat to society.
of course this expert who teaches at king's college is less informed than you all 🙄🙄🙄 ... - there is more to studies than just hearing about them, you actually have to read them and understand the context and how much weight they carry. scientists like her are always up to date and have to read a lot, and CRITICALLY, and they are in their field for years after having gone to university for an academic degree. sit the hell down!
When Ali goes carnivore, I hope he will revisit this conversation and challenge or correct all the dubious claims this dietician made. Peak dietician was reached when she criticised others for not knowing what they don’t know.
@@Unique_Monk Where’s the proof that being on a carnivore diet is the healthiest thing for everybody? Just because it works for you doesn’t mean it’s sound nutritional advice for the general public
Same for me! I am disgusted by these clinicians who are giving detrimental advice. They don't want you getting healthy and reversing metabolic disease...the want to "control" it 😡
I highly enjoyed this. One of the things that didn't get addressed but that I'd love her input on, if there's ever a second deep dive, is alcohol. Alcohol supposedly disrupts the microbiome, so what is healthy consumption, and do the polyphenols etc from red wine provide enough health benefit to continue a regular consumption?
This podcast has confirmed some problems I have had with my gut since going back to a meat eating diet in excess trying to gain muscle. I was a vegetarian for 5 years and I loved how my gut felt now with having less plants and more meat I’m having a hard time breaking down my food. Will be taking some steps mentioned here and. Maybe even trying that supplement Ali spoke of. Thank you ❤
Met too - Im in my 50's and the craziest thing as well as losing 45 lbs of lard in the last 18 months on carnivore, I also am putting on muscle and doing little exercise. There was a time I thought the carnivore's were nuts - no more.
Don't you think it's strange that the carnivore diet is the only thing that works for you? Wouldn't you consider it more likely that you have gut issues that are in remission and need actual treatment and the only reason the carnivore diet is working is that it keeps those untreated underlying health issues from triggering. Meaning that the issues are not actually healed but still lingering for the rest of your life?
@@AdrianW3D They weren't serious issues, just bloating and mostly just plain fat! I had all of my bloodwork done and it was all normal. I know it's hard for people to believe that we've been lied to and blatantly so for our whole lives but deep down, you know it's true.
@@AdrianW3D I don’t think they said that the carnivore diet was the only thing that worked, just that it worked. Also, if eating certain foods leads to being unhealthy and overweight, not eating those foods seems a sensible choice, not necessarily an avoidance of an underlying issue that could be healed with medical intervention.
1:06:54 I found dairy to really inflame my acne. When I removed it I saw way less inflammation and pimples. This has been shown in loads of studies too. So not sure why she thinks milk is so fantastic.
Milk is many things and depending on the milk product, you may get better results. Milk is fat (probably fine), protein/casein (you may tolerate A2(*) casein better than A1), sugar in form of lactose (you may be missing the enzyme to split it into glucose and galactose), but also immuno globulins and other stuff like enzymes. Depending on your dairy product, some of these are missing which may be good or bad for you. A2 dairy is bovine dairy marked as A2-only or also all pure buffalo, sheep or goat dairy products.
obviously since we are all different some foods might not suit you. it doesn't mean milk is a food that is generally unhealthy it just means it does not suit you, who has acne. acne IS a disease so it means your skin is not reacting to certain circumstances normally... i have the same problem with dairy but the underlying issue is acne and NOT milk.
I wish he had given her some pushback on her claims that there are no benefits to intermittent fasting. I would like to have heard her expand on that as it seems to be the polar opposite of what everyone else is saying at the moment.
Yeah. She's like trust me, i'm a dietician. Especially when there are scientific literature out there supporting IF. Just makes claims without evidence.
@@MyFocusVaries It's not always the case that people who are doing IF eat fewer calories. I'm personally going to the gym and trying to gain weight while doing IF. I eat the same amount of calories just in a smaller window. Although of course, I accept that most people doing IF probably do consume fewer calories. I would just have liked to hear her reasoning. I was under the impression that IF, along with not consuming ultra processed foods, was one of the few things related to diet that was universally agreed upon as being beneficial.
Great that it is helping. Pity the guest on this podcast was so dismissive of its benefits. She may well put off some people who would otherwise be helped by it.
And to think that this morning I watched a video podcast by the minimalists who had dr. Paul Saldino on the show who basically said the exact opposite of everything said in this video podcast. It is sooo hard to know which information that is out there is correct and true. But my take is that what might be good for your weight is not nescessarily good for your (gut) health and vice versa, so I guess it’s a balancing act like everything in life.
I'd go with not the dietician, but listen to your body. I used to try and eat clean and healthy, a portion of sweet potato, salmon and green veg and or a salad for lunch sometimes rice and some meat and veg, but I'd always feel bloated and gassy for days. Just see what works for you
I find it unusual that when my wife followed the exact diet recommendations given here and by her doctor she experienced terrible ulcered colitis. Bleeding etc After 8 weeks of keto, with very, very low fibre but no portion control on protein she has zero symptoms, stopped all daily medication, has lost 10% body weight, and is feeling better than she has in 20 years. I don't think this woman knows what she is talking about. She would have a great business however, of repeat customers trying to lose weight over and over. Stop spreading lies.
This was going so well until 38 mins in. Unfortunately Sophie needs to catch up with latest research but not the studies where outcomes are heavily influenced by profit. Look up Dr Paul Mason, Prof. Tim Noakes, Prof Bart Kay, Dr Anthony Chafee, Dr Ken Berry, Dr Eric Westman, Dr Shawn Baker, Dr David Diamond, Dr Robert Lustig etc .......
What about every nutritionist suggesting that we need 2 grams of proten per pound of bodyweight to build muscle and also plants not having full profile of amino acids there for being inferior to meat? How is it possible to eat meat only once in a day and get that much protein? It's nearly impossible to eat that much plants, which also have so many carbs and fiber with them, makes gut like a balloon.
It's basically impossible to eat vegan and have enough of all amino acids. You would really need to study all the combinations you need to get the full profile or just eat soy, which is bad for other reasons. And even if you do manage to get all the protein, it would come with too many carbs and plant based protein isolates would be worse.
not saying it is not true... however many have claimed that meat only and low to no carb diet saved their guts... would be good to address why that might be the case and why it would be better for everyone else to have a balanced diet instead of just dismissing that as internet myth...
There are so many possible ways one could be sensitive to the natural substances in plants. But very very few people are sensitive to unadulterated meats.
@@anthonyhulse1248 The "balance" in "balanced diet" is completely made up, but repeated so many times that people think it needs to be. Nobody would suggest a "balanced" diet to a great white shark or giant panda. Yet, somebody invents the balanced diet some decades ago and now it's mandatory?
Following this woman's advice will most probably lead to digestive system problems (gas. bloating, pain, diarrhea./constipation, and worse from there). Not to mention skin issues, allergies, mood disorders (depression/anxiety), cognitive decline, diabetes, arthritis, etc., etc.
Amazing Podcast ! Very informative and educational , the entire two and half hour podcast has been an interesting discussion and Ali has literally asked her all the questions which i had in my mind while watching it .. I have been on the Carnivore Diet, eating only meat, for 7 months now. And I have never felt better. Most of what this dietician has said, is nonsense. She has no data to back up her claims, just that she is a dietician, so therefore, she must know what she is talking about. When I was on the Standard American Diet, I was miserable. So much inflammation, aches and pains, arthritis, gut issues etc. Now, I have none of those issues. And that is all due to me eating only meat, mostly red meat.
The most desired video I have been searching on youtube..tnx for making a podcast on 2nd brain of human being i.e. clone/gut. These days more than 60% of people are suffering from gut problems that lead to constipation, IBS and causes of other fatal diseases. So, those who care about their gut are bound to have sound mental and physical health that helps them become successful in their life. 🥰🥰🥰
what i don't get is, historically, how were we designed to eat 30 diff plants a week? wouldn't a survival based organism optimize for needing the least amount of nutrients / diverse foods?
I'm not an expert on evolution, but while it doesn't seem evolutionarily advantageous to need 30 different plants, I'm guessing that it's evolutionarily advantageous to be able to extract useful nutrients from 30 different plants. That would mean that while it's advantageous to need as few plants as possible for survival, it would also mean that consuming as many as reasonably possible is the best way to optimize nutrient intake.
Stable nitrogen isotope tests show that humans were highly carnivorous before the advent of agriculture. We were carnivores for at least 300,000 years, possibly up to 2.5 million years. We’ve only been reliant on plant agriculture for roughly 10,000 years. That’s barely even 4% of our evolutionary history.
@Raymond Stone everything in the grocery section is man made and heavily sprayed with glyphosate. I let animals liver filter it out the toxins for me. Then eat the animal.
All the balanced plant based diet stuff it completely made up. The origins come from the 7th Day Adventist church, where "god" told a lady that men should eat plant based to have less lust for the flesh. Look it up, they don't even hide it.
Apparently humans are required to eat 30 different plants per week to survive. While nobody mentions that NONE of those 30 plants they mention even existed 15.000 years ago and most of them not even 100 years ago. Like today's bananas, broccoli, coliflower, apples, potatoes, corn, etc.
in recent years I have become very leery with these so called trained dietitians and doctors. oh yea she is one of those plant based dietitians ... had to go back and refresh... those peeps are all nuts @@ravenswood118
this advice goes against my personal experience, so perhaps there isn't one rule for all, per ayurvedic dosha's. she doesnt seem particularly lean to me. if she is going to talk about people who have struggled with a low carb diet, there are also examples of the exact opposite, but she doesn't seem to be prepared to acknowledge this and include this as part of a balance and unbiased answer
Here to advise, this "dietician" is giving the worst advice there is. There is zero evidence for any of her claims about meat causing cancer. Zero evidence that you cannot get all the nutrition you need in one meal - you can...from a big fat juicy steak, of which I had three for dinner. As for her advice to have cereal for breakfast - yee gods!
This advice seems like, apply to all. But. Like fasting, if you fast for few days. Your body can adapt to hunger. And she said eat all kind of food. Everyone has microbiome but not everyone has same equal hormone/body reaction.
we don't live in the ancient times, though....our soil is different, our life styles are different. I don't know why you people have trouble understanding that.
@@ravenswood118 There's something that never changed: the engineering of your body, witch was designed by the process of evolution, since it's not been a long time with agriculture, the project of you body it's the same of 50k years ago, and 50k years ago, every body was spending all day trying to get meat or making tools to get meat. But if hunting fails, there were always some roots or fruits for us not to starve. We can eat veggies, but they have much less nutrients, and the nutrients they have are less bioavailable than the ones found in animal products, vitamin A for example. But yes, veggies are edible, and sometimes delicious, just don't go eating them from a box or something, try to get them the way Gaia prepared them for you. NO CORN FLAKES WITH SUGGAR! Even as a carnivore, I sometimes eat fruits, salads, roots, and specific seeds, for phytonutrients and replenishing minerals.
@@ravenswood118 You say soil is different, and YES, it's! Plants are getting less nutritious due to mineral deficiency in soil. I would suggest that a quick research can show how cattle can be wonderful for soil mineralization and micro biome healing.
Seed oil - sounds like eminence based not evidence based. I think that Sophie Medlin needs to understand more about Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio, the high level of oxidation of seed oil, and the levels of glyphosate. High fat low carb means you don't get hungry when you fast. Eating snacks all day long keeping insulin high and disabling leptin - course you can't sleep
I just watched a neurologist in a migraine forum also say how most of our body's serotonin is produced in the gut. That's just one major gut/brain connection. And a simple explanation of the need to eat a wide variety of food was that the various gut bacteria each have a different diet themselves, and if we want a broad variety of bacteria, we need that wide diet ourselves to feed that variety of bacteria.
I enjoyed hearing her take on things and I thought you asked great questions. I think this advice it like anything else, try it and if it’s not working for you then you need to change it. There’s never going to be a one size fits all lifestyle. This was good food for thought though. Thank you!! It was fun to listen to while doing my house chores!
I think your guest is just wrong on much of what she said. Fiber does not do wonders for many people. It merely causes gas, bloating, and abdominal cramps. Cutting out dairy, grains, and starchy vegetables can help with inflammation. Reducing carbs, glucose, can reduce brain fog. Let’s also address that she looks a bit overweight. If she follows her own advice, why isn’t she trim?
Health is not measured by weight and what she said is true in health perspective and fiber require water and many of us don't know how much water our body need.
Different things work for different people. Mainstream nutrition advice simply doesn’t work for most of the people. Like drinking milk. I could learn a lot from this Lady, thank you. However my gut can not ‘resonate’ with many of her advice. I take diet advice from Chinese medicine practitioners, I can find them extremely helpful. 🙏🙏🙏
Although I agree with the majority of what she is saying, I'm sensing a lot of bias from her also. Feels like all types of diet out there are bad unless it's the one she is directly advertising or part of her own business. I never met a person on the heavy side with no health concerns. These people she is talking about are the very small minority.
Pseudoscience. Meat is a health food. The sooner you realize this, the healthier you’ll become. She is fat and unhealthy and is giving opinions about health. How does she know if her advice works if it isn’t manifested in her??
Sophie Medlin sounds like a World Economic Forum spokesperson. Also a host of a TV show, says a lot. Many peoples lives and myself changed from starting to eat proper red meat and drinking raw milk. Vegan makes you weak minded. Less meat, more soy, crickets, plants, lab produced meat - green age da push. Artificial sweeteners are not safe, they destroy peoples gut.
I wondered about this! I was waiting for Ali to ask if Huel is any good - I think he touched on it tangentially, but my guess is that she would have been against Huel.
Really wish dieticians in the US had training like this. I saw one as part of a medically managed weight loss program, and she was completely clueless on why I gained weight if I ate healthy or lost of I ate junk food. 😔 It took years for me to figure out any sort of clue as to how to feel better and what to eat. Still haven't lost the weight, but am generally healthy these days.
They do, that is why there is an epidemic of obesity. They recommend cereal, just like her. They also demonize meat like her. To tell people to eat cereal is probably the worst service ever, full of processed sugar. She probably also believes that lucky charms are healthier than eggs, lol😂.

Hi Ali, Thanks for this interview. I appreciate the breadth of topics covered, but I am somewhat disappointed in your epistemic integrity, both for not giving any pushback and for the sponsorship. Here's why: Firstly, lots of claims Sophie makes just scream "appeal to nature" really, really loudly and you didn't flag it once (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_nature). Secondly, I disapprove of her lack of nuance with regard to semaglutide. Obesity is a chronic disease that impacts the life quality of millions. Dietitians fail miserably at curing it! (Not because they're incompetent, but because it's just really, really hard.) The type of person she refers to earlier in the podcast who is just "naturally and healthily overweight" may or may not exist, but must be a minority given the rather recent surge in obesity. It's not clear to me if she is promoting HAES (health at every size, a movement known for its denial of scientific evidence) or accepts that obesity is bad for the world but is confused about how low the chances of improvement with standard practice "diet and exercise" are. And finally, did she know that the interview is sponsored by Huel? Given her focus on a varied and natural diet, my guess is that she wouldn't approve of that. It seems prudent that this should be a question for you to raise in this interview. Relatedly, I'm not convinced that her product is fundamentally superior to the influencers she is criticising earlier, just because she is a dietitian. These points are ones that I put some thinking into of my own and can therefore put into some critical context. A claim like "brain fog comes from a disbalanced microbiome, even if you don't have digestive issues" should raise some eyebrows and is controversial! I don't have enough context myself though to evaluate it as I didn't dive into the studies. I'm afraid I can't trust her judgment enough to go away from this podcast with any inspiration to try out something she suggested for myself. Best wishes from a colleague! (edited for clarity)
She is the poo expert because she is full of it. Anyone that tells you cereal is good and that chicken and fish are red meat don't know what they are talking about. The fact that this women is considered the leading expert in diet is extremely telling of the current pandemic obesity. She doesn't look exactly thin either.

Oh I'm so curious - Sophie mentioned anti-caking agents in vitamins that can be harmful to your body. I have long-standing issues which I *think might be related to taking low quality daily vitamins. What are some of the harmful effects of the additives in vitamins? Could this really be what caused my issues??
It's probably very small amounts compared to what you get with normal supermarket diet. But be aware, also "proper" medications have the same anti cake agents. Best to stay away from any pills and also non organic food or any food with an ingredient list.
"Your gut makes 95% of your serotonin" - Ali you are a QUALIFIED DOCTOR, for crying out loud! Your average 2nd year medical student could tell you that serotonin cannot cross the blood-brain barrier - to claim it affects our mood is pure fiction. If I eat as she recommend, I would feel terrible. I certainly dont eat breakfast since it makes me groggy and wanna go back to bed. A black coffee for breakfast helps me to do my work. Also whole grain makes my gut much worse. The information she publish is dated. Break fast is the most imprtant meal of the day is just BS : D.

Personally I will not take health advice from someone who looks to have metabolic problems and has no clue about it. At the end I’m not sure if this was much more than an advertisement for certain products and herself. I find it very interesting how when she is asked and boasts of her “education’ Ali starts bouncing like he’s very uncomfortable - doctors do not have nutrition education and are very disconnected from the effect of a proper human diet on the body yet he seems to know she’s not actually educated in the human body. The vague mentions of “studies” with no links or direct reference to them is not helpful to the viewer, we have no idea if she’s misinterpreted something, or just read the abstract, or worse yet just relied on others telling her.

She might be an amazing person, but her dietary advice is terrible.
I heard her say the opposite. Good idea to fast and eat at optimum time to suit your body clock.

Her kind of advice had me in such a huge downward health spiral . Every thing she says is 100% the opposite of what my actual life experience is.
Totally agree. I'm on Carnivore, lost 35 lbs in 6 months and never felt better.
Correct.
Same for me! I am disgusted by these clinicians who are giving detrimental advice. They don't want you getting healthy and reversing metabolic disease...the want to "control" it 😡
Same for me. Any time I eat plants, fibre etc. I get gut pain, bad runny sh*ts etc.
99% Carnivore for 2.5 years and it's the best I've felt.
She's total bs.
Do you still believe that having huel for breakfast is VERY VERY healthy ?
This podcast has confirmed some problems I have had with my gut since going back to a meat eating diet in excess trying to gain muscle. I was a vegetarian for 5 years and I loved how my gut felt now with having less plants and more meat I’m having a hard time breaking down my food. Will be taking some steps mentioned here and. Maybe even trying that supplement Ali spoke of. Thank you ❤
I've gone carnivore and I've lost weight, my gut is far better than it has ever been and the things she says are insane!
Me too!
Milk may not be the actual problem. You may have some other problems that cause acne.
@@7thCobweb You do have acne but if you fast and drink enough water does it get any better? Skin improves?
same! I tried a lot of cow milk types all gave me acne but when I make yogurt from them or eat chees I'm good and have no acne!
My doctor says there's no research to support IF as having benefits in itself. The benefit is that people doing IF eat fewer calories.

I’d go with the dietitian.
@@marianr8617hich one backed their claims with actual science? Which one looks like their way of eating is working for them?
Not that I would agree with Paul Saladino's fruit & honey based diet, but at least he knows some studies and actually cites them.

Bleeding etc
After 8 weeks of keto, with very, very low fibre but no portion control on protein she has zero symptoms, stopped all daily medication, has lost 10% body weight, and is feeling better than she has in 20 years.
Paul Mason, Bart Kay, and Anthony Chaffee are quaks. Not reliable sources of information
It did mine. She is just wrong on EVERY level.
There are so many possible ways one could be sensitive to the natural substances in plants. But very very few people are sensitive to unadulterated meats.
Very politely put.
A “balanced” diet is bad for my insulin resistance. Only intermittent fasting and low carb/high fat foods keep my glucose levels safe.

🥰🥰🥰
Carnivore helps IBS, constipation and mental health for me.
what i don't get is, historically, how were we designed to eat 30 diff plants a week? wouldn't a survival based organism optimize for needing the least amount of nutrients / diverse foods?
I have to agree with most of the comments .... she seems like a nice person but that being said she should not be giving people dietary advice.
why not? cause you believe influencers over medically trained dietitians?
in recent years I have become very leery with these so called trained dietitians and doctors. oh yea she is one of those plant based dietitians ... had to go back and refresh... those peeps are all nuts @@ravenswood118
this advice goes against my personal experience, so perhaps there isn't one rule for all, per ayurvedic dosha's. she doesnt seem particularly lean to me. if she is going to talk about people who have struggled with a low carb diet, there are also examples of the exact opposite, but she doesn't seem to be prepared to acknowledge this and include this as part of a balance and unbiased answer
If you hope to get in 30 plants in a week by rotating them (5/day) and not repeat them until next week, stuff will inevitably spoil, no?
Here to advise, this "dietician" is giving the worst advice there is. There is zero evidence for any of her claims about meat causing cancer. Zero evidence that you cannot get all the nutrition you need in one meal - you can...from a big fat juicy steak, of which I had three for dinner. As for her advice to have cereal for breakfast - yee gods!
This advice seems like, apply to all. But. Like fasting, if you fast for few days. Your body can adapt to hunger. And she said eat all kind of food. Everyone has microbiome but not everyone has same equal hormone/body reaction.
Wonder how our ancestrals thrived without the iron in cereals. 😂
Very badly. They were just sick and waited for all the hybridized veggies and grains to be invented by future generations.
@@wocket42 So future generations could make food that their bodies never touched during the evolutionary process that defined our physiology.
we don't live in the ancient times, though....our soil is different, our life styles are different.
She recommeded to eat fishy smelling fish. The fishy smell is the rancid omega 3 fatty acids.
That's really interesting. I may be an odd case, but I find that a meat heavy keto diet helps with my migraines
why don't you go watch DR Anthony Chaffee also a Neurologist... and see what He thinks!
I agree. My stomach issues went away when I decreased my fiber intake

@@mackenzie305 type of fiber may be your issue
Why do you have to bring her weight into this? It’s very rude
The body literally makes itself largely from the food that we eat, so doctors not being well-trained in this arena is so odd.
Although I agree with the majority of what she is saying, I'm sensing a lot of bias from her also. Feels like all types of diet out there are bad unless it's the one she is directly advertising or part of her own business. I never met a person on the heavy side with no health concerns. These people she is talking about are the very small minority.

Why are you selective with your comments, let me post my opinion. No bad mouthing, simple opinion.

Hi Ali,
Thanks for this interview. I appreciate the breadth of topics covered, but I am somewhat disappointed in your epistemic integrity, both for not giving any pushback and for the sponsorship. Here's why:
Firstly, lots of claims Sophie makes just scream "appeal to nature" really, really loudly and you didn't flag it once (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_nature).
Exactly my thoughts here
She is the poo expert because she is full of it.
Anyone that tells you cereal is good and that chicken and fish are red meat don't know what they are talking about.
The fact that this women is considered the leading expert in diet is extremely telling of the current pandemic obesity.
She doesn't look exactly thin either.
It's her culture. They rarely think outside the box or really dig deeper than their training.
she said not to eat the processed cereal, though. she goes on to explain cause he asks her about it. when she says "cereal," she means things like oats. also, she never said chicken and fish are red meat....

It is so relieving to get the answers to all your questions in one go.
"Your gut makes 95% of your serotonin" - Ali you are a QUALIFIED DOCTOR, for crying out loud! Your average 2nd year medical student could tell you that serotonin cannot cross the blood-brain barrier - to claim it affects our mood is pure fiction. I could forgive you for letting it slip in the interview but to be so brazen as to put it in the thumbnail is shameful.

And her recommendation to drink orange juice (although she does encourage a small amount) is a little ridiculous in my opinion. When my son drinks orange juice, it puts him right to sleep, LITERALLY.
@@trenee5530 Shockingly she also mentioned that theres no evidence or proof that fasting is benificial, despite all the studies and countless patients have been cured by fasting.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry….. the autistic mice section had me rolf. Anyone with a brain needs to go and watch prof Lord Bart Kay destroy this video of misinformation, lies and tomfoolery.
Absolutely! He rips this nonsense apart. It's beautiful.
why does God put protein on the earth to eat and you tell us to eat manufactured protein ?
this is just seriously bad advice
when did she tell you to eat manufactured protein?...she literally told you to cut out processed foods.
@@ravenswood118
She pushes cereals 🙈
@@Unique_Monk Surely, you heard her clarify that when she says "cereals," she means things like oats, and tells you NOT to eat the processed stuff? Also they weren't even discussing protein when they were talking about that, they were talking about iron. In regards to protein, she said to eat animal protein but LESS, opt for more fish as opposed to red meat, and eat more plant proteins. It seems like everyone who didn't like her advice has comprehension problems.
@@ravenswood118
I’m not sure you’ve actually researched her
All cereals are processed
@@Unique_Monk Oats are not processed lmao. She said when she means "cereals" she means things like "oats" and "mixing them with nuts and seeds." Listen to the actual words or stop yappin'.
okay, now this was life changing and eye opening
A deep dive into the very surface of outdated information by an admitted failed academic. She excels at tapping into people’s feelings about health.
The vague mentions of “studies” with no links or direct reference to them is not helpful to the viewer, we have no idea if she’s misinterpreted something, or just read the abstract, or worse yet just relied on others telling her.
admitted failed academic - girl where
Yes failed according to the sad diet
Her dietary advice is stuck in the 80s and it shows
so true
Humans don't need fiber. This woman has no clue
HUMANS DON'T NEED FIBER!?!?!?! oh my f-cking god.....I swear influencers should all have to require a license to be able to talk about nutrition on the internet because the dumbassery their babbling has caused....good luck with your health problems that you are sure to get down the road!
This is such a good video packed with good plain speaking & informative advice!
She’s got lots of opinions…. But no science to back them. It was a deep dive into a very shallow pool.
Nicely put!
looks like she needs a pillow to be comfy in the chair
Looking forward to the transcript for this! This is definitely one of my favorite episodes. Super practical and insightful. I shared this with a patient that I'm treating for pelvic health and she too was looking for the transcript. 👀
Whatever she said is in line with Ayurveda. Really sad to see such harsh comments about the her and her weight. Gastrointestinologists will agree with her too.
How embarrassing to call yourself a gut expert when every recommendation you have for a health gut actually creates an unhealthy gut.
like what?
