- We're on a 4hr road trip to check out a 1962 Dodge Dart that's listed for sale for $10,500 CAD. It's in EXCELLENT shape but... it's a four door. Bad Chad wants to convert it into a two door and put a 413 engine in, which was a factory race car back then. When we talked to the seller on the phone, he said he would sell it for $9,000. When we got here, he gave us a different price...

I just love and respect the way Chad treats his elders. I know nothing of his upbringing, but someone taught him proper manners.
Leave that little beauty just the way it is ! Buy it, clean it, polish it, display it.
I'd personally leave it a more door... But throw the 413 with Cross Rams in there....
Then OVER MUFFLE the exhaust... And run "stock looking" tires and wheels/hubcaps on it.
ULTIMATE SLEEPER.😂
Sleaper.
@@moethibert3640 Do you sleap at night ?
This car deserves to be a 2 door , can't wait to see this project come alive 413 dual carbs so cool Chad so excited for this one 😄!!
2 door only if it's done right strech front doors shorten wheel base etc.
Wrong,it deserves to be left alone
@@allengeist5481 wheel base is the same for 4 door or 2 cars on this dart , the door length changes yes just need a set of 2 door doors
Those slant six engines were great motors.
Loved how you included that moment. It was perfect.
Cut it. Do it your way Chad. A 2 door big block will be great on that car. Yes, it's nice, in a certain sad way, how it is - but you'll make it better. Much better.
That car is a one year only model of the Dart intermediate size. The Dart became a compact in 1963. So it's likely a pretty rare survivor. My family had the 1966 version of the Dodge Coronet. Same color as yours and a 4 door sedan with the 225 slant six. It was an auto though. Going to a two door would be a lot of work on a car without a frame like that one. Keeping the stock body and dropping in a 413 or 440 with beefed up trans and rear end would turn it into a drag car for sure. Good luck!
Thats a really nice car for that price all day long. My mom had a cream color one back in the 70s. The gentleman was an awesome guy. Whatever you decide to do will be awesome. Great find you guys!!
Chad, Jolene, & Fina that was a great buy guys! The car is in fantastic shape you could not ask for a better car for the project. I personally love the idea of the 2 door conversion and the 413 engine which I believe you have a cross ram manifold for it as well if I am not mistaken Chad. I have seen alot of Tri-5s that have been converted and they look good when they are completed! Gus was a really nice and honest guy the fact that he would not sell it to the other fellow until you got there and had your chance. He also could have tried to start a bidding war between you guys and the other guy and he did not try to do it. It all shows what a good guy he is! You could also thing about tubbing the rear wheel houses and put some big meats on the back of it. A lot of people must have a lot of money or dreams because in the comments I saw quite a few people suggesting other engines when you already have the 413 engine on hand! Jolene thank you as always for taking us along and another great video! Fina looked to be really enjoying the trip with you two, she was a happy girl that she got to go with!
In my youth 2 doors were preferred but in the last 15,20 years or so I’ve really come to prefer the 4 doors. But it’s your car and I’ll probably watch the video while cringing a little. I really appreciate the no cut live work, thank you
Me to in my 50's I appreciate the 4 doors they can look just as good as a 4 door if they are dressed up right
My first car was a 1968 4-door Toyota carona. I bought off my Pop's for $50.00 it was a part's car. I fixed it up as a show car. I shorten a 51 Buick grill, put an older BMW chrome bumper guards across the front bumper, Appleton spotlight, white wall tires. Used the stock hubcap's but put 3 prong knock offs to fit on the hub caps. Painted it an antique yellow smoke tented windows. I had added a lot of older car parts on it. My uncle and Pops older brother knew the guy that owed the wrecking yard so he let me have the run of the place to build my car in the late 80's early 90's. He liked how I designed it. I used to get thumbs ups all the time. When I parked it at car's show's people would always stop and look at it and remember when they had a Toyota. They important many of those car's in the country during the 1970's when the Gas crunch/crises in the US Datsun, Handa, Toyotas Japanese imports. Most of those late 60's and 70's imports are getting really rare to find these day's everyone is looking for those small car's and truck's to build or drive around now that the Gas prices have shot pretty high here in the States. Here in California bay area it's $ 4-5 bucks a gallon that's a lot of money in a 15-20 gallon tank.
😆 Every single person I know would rather have a two door that’s into old cars……
@@EarlG-r4r I know that people who are really into old cars are, really into old cars .
I had a '62 2d HT 318. While hanging out at the local wreckers, I watched them tow in an odd '64 4d that wrapped around a poll. The thing had wide tires, rear sway bar, HD springs and a 383. I bought the 25k engine, Trans and springs. Turns out my doner was an undercover pursuit car, and that 383 HiPo Police had 12.5 compression, a nasty factory cam and more ponies than a factory 413 or 426 of the day. It was FAST!
You lucky dog.
Hence, wrapped around a pole.
@@DanSmith-cb5vj I always wondered who/what they were chasing!
Gotta love them old Mopars.. 😍
Nice car I’m
Not a four door guy but it’s CLEAN I think if YOU GOT A DREAM
CHAD GO FOR IT BROTHER :)!!!!!!! I would have just finished the T BIRD YOU JUST SOLD I loved that car just had a sweet look to it !!!
It seems every time Chad goes car browsing, everyone starts saying, leave it alone, don’t do anything to it. Gee whiz, it’s his money and his show.
when I was a kid and first saw a new valiant 4 door I thought it would be neat to make it a 2 door and make it look like an Italian race car-I'm 81 years old and still think it's a good idea.
Please don’t screw up that beautiful car.
Do you watch the show
It's a four-door. It will look much better as a two-door
Jezz Chad you come across some lovely people very cool looking car
I had one of those Dodge Darts in the 60's.
First thing I noticed that my Dart had a push button transmission. In this car the slots are there on the driver"s left side.
I suspect this car was totally rebuilt. The under coating seems to be " Road Guard" which didn't exist then.
Those slanted six go for ever, these engines are very dependable and cheap to maintain. Overall a good car.
Love to see it as a 2 door.
I recently sold a very nice steel bicycle frame to a kid who turned it into a "fixie" (a fixed gear, single-speed bike). He told me he was going to cut off the rear derailleur hanger and probably the downtube shifter mounts. I suggested he not do that, just in case he ever wanted to restore the bike with gears and shifters... but of course he just bought the frame from me so I also told him he could cut it in half longways just to see how it's made, if he wants to! (He ended up NOT cutting the frame up.) Why there is any desire to cut up a perfectly nice 4-door vehicle to make it a 2-door baffles me, as 4-doors is so much more usable and why not just go find a 2-door if that's what you want? But it's your car, make extra work for yourself if you want, I'm sure we'll all enjoy watching you do it!
Nice looking car. After customising it would be even better. Thanks Jolene and Chad👊🇿🇦
I had a 62 Dodge 413 three-speed torque flite 2dr, it was badged as a Dodge Polara 500, bought for 3500 in the mid 70s. I look forward to seeing Chad work it all out, what a neat guy, artist. and that hot talented chick with him :)
good score chad and jo..nice old guy
Enjoy your new project car,as we will enjoy the build too. Great to see Princess Fina having a great road trip.
You don’t cut up cars in that nice of shape. Plenty of floorless rusters out there.
Chad and Jolene are very caring people and treat others with respect in their car dealings
Great meeting you yesterday!!
I say yes to everything you said it’s just a four door I don’t know why everyone is getting upset about the two door conversion I say do it plus it’s a good foundation to start with no cutting out rust should be a pretty quick conversion
I completely agree with you !
If you want it, buy it - but please, please, leave it as it is. That car has classic lines and changing it to a 2- door will make it butt ugly in my opinion.....There is an old saying which goes "if it ain't broke, don't "fix" it".....
Too late
The 61 and 63 were attractive,
Heads should have rolled with
this design!
Blah blah blah!
Leave it alone, she's a beauty. Don't buy it to cut it up and destroy it. Buy a wreck instead to cut n weld.
The car is a survivor. I wouldn't touch it.
HOW DO YOU GIVE A STRANGER - $8,500 - ALSO LET HIM DRIVE AWAY WITH THE CASH AND THE CAR 😮😮
Mr. Chad, you have a car the same color to match your truck. I guess you can say you have the blues ! 😉
put the 413 in it , leave the body alone and have the ultimate sleeper
That is a beautiful car chad just putting some custom wheels on it and because the haven't been on the road eyes will look your way and gear selector is better than push button love the car.
Boa Noite Bad Chad, que Dodge 62 lindo, em perfeito estado por ser um carro de 62 anos. Aqui no Brasil um Dodge 62, vale no mínimo U$ 100.000,00 fácil 😅😅😅
That's probably my favorite car.... Here's what I would do personally....either leave it stock or resto-mod it... heavy on the mod as far as a drive train and stopping and put in a hellcat engine/transmission , for wheels just widen a factory wheel or get Mopar style modern rims...3" dual exhaust... for the body leave it or make it look like an old stocker... upgrade the lights to better halogen like piaa white...LED is ugly but put good quality LED bulbs in the tails... and that's a good idea to make it a 2 door because ya know 4 doors are gross 🤮...or keep it stock because it's beautiful...anyways always good stuff Chad ... thanks for the content
I'd love to have that as a daily driver and leave it as is.
Good Morning Bad Chad from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Chad if this is your dream, go for it.
I would love to see the finished project
Fay and Austin Greenough
Beautiful Car Chad and Jolene Definitely a good gentleman for doing what he did and Telling great stories
Hi Chad and Joline. Awesome car. My parents had a 1962 dodge dart wagon. Automatic push button tranny with a 318 engine. It was an awesome car wish I had it today they are getting rare.cant wait to see the conversion
A 318 would be my suggestion good cam and port job and good mufflers that dart will sound like a race car with out breaking the bank.
I got my hat in Germany .. Fina looks starved and absolutely a cool car..
What a great deal! I hope that guy doesn't have a heart attack when he logs on to the utube of, bad Chad & slick Jolene!😮
That will make a sweet two door with a big block! Hope you can find a good set of doors so you can keep factory glass in it. Nice score Chad & Jolene!
Had a 2 door like it in 1967, drove it like a wild man till I went to the Navy. Brother forgot to put antifreeze in it, block froze. Great cheep party car.
hats off to a great deal of a find!!! lol
I’m crying the other guys still in the car. Looked at Chad and said you know what I’m saying.😂
GOOD JOB!
Too cool to cut up. Get a shitter to cut up.
Nice looking car
Chad looking clean with that old cap cheers can't wait to see the build
I see that 55speed limit on the trailer fender I know Chad is not driving 55 with out playing some Sammy Hagar I can’t drive 55 !!!!!!:) lololol all the way home super cool music video lmao 100 + or stay on the porch in your arm chair lol
Nice buy! Looking forward to seeing you do this one up Bad Chad style!
Nice car ,good deal looking forward to your customization 😎👍
You guys got a beauty there it will be interesting to see is with a couple less doors and a power unit under the hood.
Yes! That’s what you do and that’s why we enjoy watching you.
I am super excited to watch this transformation happen !! You’re a good man bad Chad and of course your other half queen Jolene make you complete. ✌🏼😎💯🍻🍻
Its so awesome to see Chad and Jolene interact with people and how nice and genuine they are. That dart looked so nice. I can't wait to see it done too!
Beautiful car just the way it is
Yes, a 413 with long rams.
What a beautiful car. Perfect project !!
When you chop the car up won't be able to use any of the interior interior looks immaculate but that won't matter Chad will never put nothing inside it anyway
Excellent double negative there Bob, so what do you reckon Chad WILL put inside !!
Score! This is going to be a great build . Cant wait. Thanks guys
Incredible deal! Awesome car!
Great buy and I can,t wait to see the outcome, whether proper long 2doors or the short originals and the wedge with crossram!! Cheers, Bernie
My 1st car was a fiat 600 2nd was a S model valiant. Loved the style.
Wow and wow. When I was young I knew a lady that bought one of those new and she kept it till she died at the age of 89 was all original was clean car when she past away all original the fun part of it for me was to see at my young age that the car was automatic push button made me laugh. But for my part I would leave the car the way it is. Continue great content like always.
That's an awsome looking 62 Dart, but i think it would even better lokking as a two door 62 Dart.
Hi all from Trois-Rivieres Quebec
A big engine never hurts..............
Chad in his dodgy car dealers cap! 😉
Color almost matches the Hudson truck... ✌️😉
This car is way too nice to get cut up and converted. Leave this one as is and take it out for dinner dates with Queen Jolene.
I’ve being trying to sell my ol 66 Pontiac this summer no takers I think nobody has any money but putting the 413 in that car can’t wait to see the transformation
watching your show from here in tacoma washington.....
That 62 is a Creampuf and if it's done right it will be a classic hot rod. Good luck.
Wow! That is pretty cherry, great deal! 😊👍 Cool person too!
My first car I ever owned back when I was 16, around 1973, drove it 1 summer and the springs came up thru the trunk, it was kinda rusty underneath, slant six 3 on the tree, silver blue in colour, still have the shell of what's left of it in the woods on our property, saw this one for sale a while back, would of loved to bought it but....
There's no way you can see what you're trying to see underneath that car in the dark with your sunglasses on
Nice car and I think with two doors it will be even nicer. 😎👍
Chad's hat is not bad but honestly it is a little weird on him, it seems to make him look older...
Good job Chad you know how to count money like you fix cars
WISH I COULD GIVE HIS GENERATION ANOTHER LIFETIME. A CLASSIC FROM ANOTHER TIME.
Congratulations on your buy...look up Jim Kramer mopar parts, he deals with early mopar b body parts, max wedge stuff, nos, new repop and good used parts and parts cars...he should have your doors and necessary sheet metal for your conversion..😉
Just finished watching Puddins fab shop on RUclips. He used your method of bending metal, beating it on floor. Also gave a shout out to ya.
A two door conversion would make good entertaining content. You will have to find a set of two door doors to start.
2 Door gasser style with a straight axle. Slicks out back.
Yes to the 2 door but get some modern running gear in there I reckon.
Chad.... Destroying classic cars one at a time !
those straight 6 slant motors are bloody good motors ,work horses .
Cutting it up would be a real shame.
This is a Beautiful Dodge I Love it Tim
Two door project, can’t wait, gotta get Jolene in on the welding too.
Might as well make it a convertible
Jolene comes because she does the filming plus if she didn’t u probably get lost.
Bad Chad and the queen Jolene lots of love from Jen and John in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
Nice looking car. It will be great to see the changes that Chad will perform. Do you think he will also chop it down maybe a little roof surgery 🙂👍
Chad + Jolene, that's one clean machine! You're also getting a cherry slant 6 and three speed tranny! Congrats and Cheers!
I thought you were a leader Chad but converting this classic to a 2 door just makes you another follower.
Leaving it as a four-door requires an imagination and going against the grain .
