You can place the water monuments on land if you first create a puddle for it (with sewage or mods), the build will be able to attach to it, then you simple remove the puddle. I got the colossus as my amusement park center piece with this trick
I know you say that medical buildings are mostly useless, but I find they do function as expected if you place residential in polluted areas. Instead of getting sick and abandoning or dying, they go to the hospitals. This allows you to zone residential right next to industrial or commercial, without worrying about the pollution or noise. Anyway, if you build hospitals just for the looks, then you may as well use them.
@@daniellxnder in my city most of the hospitals are empty but most of the ambulances are in use 99 % of the time. They pick up patients from across the map even if there are 2 other hospitals which are nearer to the patient. I cant reduce budget because it reduces the number of ambulances. But out of 5000 beds I only use 1000.
Right!? And then seeing my income skyrocket is beautiful! Everybody says the space elevator is garbage and is useless but I’m so confused as it really helps with tourist income. Better yet once placed, the tourists stop coming through the highways which causes traffic. I connected metro, monorail, and train right next to it and it really helped with my traffic flow big time.

With a big skyline surrounding the medical center it looks less weird because the only visible area on it is the glass section which just looks like a wide tower
Your saying that the Fusion power plant is bad because its too good. Having extra electricity doesn't cause an explosion or something. If you consume more then 400 MW of power then you should place it. Its cheaper and lowering it makes it really cheap. You replace every power plant with something that does just as good as it, will always have enough electricity, and will be much cheaper.
Very nice! I've always known those buildings were there to unlock, but have never really pursued it (like the space elevator, hadron collider, fusion plant, etc.). Now I know what they really do and don't do. Side note... about fell out of my chair seeing the effect from the space elevator. WTF?!
There is a current issue with the hadron collider where you can not click the disable university boost option. If you place campus DLC universities assets and like the buildings features, you can place hardon collider delete all the schools and high schools to save budget but keep university. The interface is broken after last month's update. This interface is broken with "allow intercity trains" too. Paradox is aware but a fix is unknown at this point.
About the eden Project and Land value: in my current city the land value is about 150 on average, and the entire map is lime green. Even the areas with nothing or the industrial areas.

great list, i would have rated the clock tower higher because the speedbuff, in a city doing lots of rail to get cims of the roads, esspecially trucks, is a very appreciated feat. not necessary for the reasons you mentioned but stilll. love trains u know ;)
I love the eden project for the heavily reduction in pollution but I wish there was an option to disable the land value buff similarly to how you can turn off university boost on the collider
Great list, very useful. Didn't know what cause the massive deathwave in my late game cities until now! Two things for me though: first, I can't seem to make the ultimate recycling center do anything useful for me. Although it has a 100 truck capacity, when I place it, it seems to send out maybe 8 to 10 trucks and most of my city is getting buried in garbage. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Other (non-monument) garbage facilities all work fine, whichever one I decide to use. Second, a question about the ChirpX unique: when you(manually) launch a rocket, it sends out this wave of happiness. Is this useful for anything, or is it just a gimmick? While not a fixed buff like the uniques in this list give, if this happiness has a meaningful effect, it might be a reason to consider this unique. Concert and sports facilities also (automatically in this case) send out waves of happiness or unhappiness depending on the outcome of the most recent event there. Again, I don't know if anything ever follows from these waves of happiness.
Could simply be a logistics issue in the fact that the trucks are just having trouble getting over there! I definitely wouldn't leave it as the only recycling centre in the city. Your budget slider could also be affecting the number of trucks :) I've rarely played with the rocket assets but to my knowledge, its a gimic :)
The hadron collider can be used as a good expo center. Not work as it but look as it. They are usually really advanced if the center is in countries like the US, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and maybe some European nations. The expo center isn't overly big, and is advanced. Thus its a pretty good expo center in my opinion
Whenever I place down the hadron collider the unemployment rate sky rockets and it creates a lack of workers for my industrial and commercial, so I dont use it
An easy way to fix the death wave is to slowly demolish and rebuild residential zoning. This is especially important when zoning high density residential areas. One or two buildings at a time should really spread out the population boom after placing the Eden Project.
Keep up the work! That sea fortress castle would look perfect surrounded by a square-a-bout moat. And the statue of Colossus? Too bad there's not a NSFW version called Priapus! 😜
I hate how you have to unlock a lot of unique buildings. Im a Vanilla player and I love this game but it's really annoying and for some of them really hard to unlock. I understand it kinda adds more replay ability to the game but im a decorator and I prefer to have everything accessible. Little bit of a rant but great tier list!
The clocktower buff is not random. It firstly is a reference to Italian dictator Mussolini who was facetiously praised for his ability to "make the trains run on time," by some supportive English tourists returning to the UK. They were referring to his heavy handed, hard power method of governance, Mussolini being the first man to define "fascismo" as an alternative to communism in absolving the failures of capitalist liberal democracy. It was still a time before radio, so tourist word-of-mouth was still a major method of distributing news, so it became a well spread perspective. Secondly, scheduling trains over the great distances of early America was of huge importance. Trains are extremely susceptible to traffic, being utterly incapable of deviating from their pre-built rails. To compound that problem, due to the sheer scale of the continent, building two one-way rail lines was unfeasible through many areas. So, trains traveling in opposite directions over the same line needed to plan a bypass. Since rail lines could communicate station-to-station but not station-to-train or train-to-train, the schedule and path of the trains had to be planned well before the train ever left the station, accounting for other trains and planning where and when to use available redundant rails to bypass. No updates could be given during transmission and the dollar numbers dependent on each shipment were staggering, so they had to get the times right. This schedule depended on the trains' speeds. Determining the speed of the train based on its engine, weight, and route geography was a complex task, and the precise timing of the trains was an indication on the efficiency and reliability of a rail company.
I can never get the Eden Project nor the Ultimate Recycling center, I hate pollution so I want to rather recycle on a huge scale like this thing does. Have to look into unlocking it now.
I hate the way the eden project works even though it's a great looking building. It just ruins the city completely by maxing out the land value absolutely everywhere. Takes all the skill and fun away from raising the land value using parks etc. And while I agree with you on the disaster shelter, it makes a fantastic looking futuristic church if you close your eyes and squint a little 🤣

Nicely done Egg, perfect with my cup of joe today.
A note about the Hadron Collider: it will mess up demand for commercial and industrial zones. Because everyone gets educated to "highly educated" status, no one will want to work in the lower educated positions, meaning unless you adjust industry to be "Industry 4.0" with district policy, and build high enough level of commercial where it's mostly highly educated positions, your city will start to lose population and FAST. Industrial zones will struggle to fill positions, and commercial won't operate as well (if at all) because everyone is too educated for the smoky industry areas and cashier levels of jobs in shops. Commercial demand will dramatically increase, but will never drop because the zones built for it cannot be filled by the citizens, rendering commercial demand infinitely maxed out. I would move Hadron Collider to "Building Cheeks" for these very reasons; even though its main benefits are meant to be a positive for any city, it can actually ruin it with how it works. I would avoid building it entirely, but that's just my "two cents".
@overchargedegg Few questions: 1) The Hardon Collider act as a 3 in 1 school? (Elementary, High School, University) 2) What public tranport type would u recommend when placing the Space Elevator?

Did you notice how cars travel a few 100 meters per day yet people only live for normal lifespans on that same time control. Due to this the relative amount of corpses transported is a lot higher than irl. Same with garbage collection. IRL they gather trash in the morning and there are no garbage trucks clogging up a real city. In this game due to the extremely slow travel speed relative to time the same truck can take days to exit the city. These things make it a less realistic simulator, as it becomes a proportionally more impactful problem for a city than it is irl. Of course if every car was zooming by really fast so you can't even see them that'd be visually less pleasing. Maybe if we had more numbers of fast forward buttons it'd be ok.
