Excellent book. Definitely worth the wait. Kind of humorous how the vampire and the mage went out like little bitches lol for all their power they just dissolves into the ether. You could almost draw a parallel to reality with this. The most powerful people on this planet, whether it be presidents or dictators, in the end, well all return to the earth. Just like we will. So no matter how big and bad or how much we think we’ve accomplished in our life in the end, rich or poor, we all end up the same way.

Well good sir. I have heard your entire collection of audio books. I must say it is impressive to say the least. I think i will start over with the portal wars as it was my first and frankly my favorite
I've noticed a fair amount of authors have begun to do the direct publishing of audio works and I absolutely love it. As much as I want to pay for the books now it's not possible for me to do with a new family. But good sir I will gladly listen to a few commercials to make sure you are compensated until I can add your physical books to the dragons hoard me and the wife have gathered. I do believe I've listened to all the books you have put on this channel to date and you've earned a dedicated fan. In my opinion you are up there with some of my other favorites like David Webb and John Ringo. Keep it up please!

It's interesting to think how dominant/powerful Otto from Portal Wars would be in some of these other worlds.
I long for crossover between the Divine Key, Portal Wars and Soul Bound saga.
I think this guy learned magic way fater than otto but i dont think he will ever be as powerful also i really like how well you made the final fight between the wizard and the vampire it felt like a really great fight and i think the black bile magic increase was a great addition

@James E Wisher True, but you filled that plot hole with beastmaster having the black iron empire for his own, well done, plus beastmaster is not an a**hole, like the vampire. He would happy teach Joran a few things for the right price, or just for fun. Plus, there's also the bad-ass that is Otto, Joran and him meeting up and working together would make for a powerhouse of a partnership.

@@meoff7602 yes it would, so far it seems that the world building is the same which I like, I really enjoy the world he’s created. Now I have to go back and re read some of the books so I can figure out the timeline.

Another outstanding series. Everything tied up neatly at the end.My only complaint would be that I wish Joren would have gotten stronger Perhaps he can train with Otto Shank for a while in the next Series.

Probably not soon. It takes quite awhile to put an audiobook together. Joe is recording a clean version of The Lightning that I plan to post towards the end of March. After that it'll probably be late summer or fall before I have anything new. I will be getting some audio rights back in early 2024 so I'll have more to post then.

I find that an anti-climactic battle is often very welcome when you’re invested in a series like this. At first I was left wanting, but it made sense, and I really appreciate it.

Really enjoyed the series, finished all 5 books in under a week. How long until the next one starts? I’ll be going back to older ones in the mean time.
Unfortunately, it's going to be a little while before the next full length audiobook. They take a long time to write and get recorded. I do plan to release a pro version of The Lightning probably next month as well as another chapter of my motion comic sometime this summer.

I've became a subscriber to this channel immediately after the first book I've listened, this is the second series that I've listened and even if preferred the journey of Otto Shanks, I've enjoyed this series as well, can't wait to start a new one. You Sir. Are creating a universe with endless possibilities, and the idea of all of those different worlds out there waiting to be "discover" through your books give me the chills..excellent job..
But now after this second series, since I understand that this books are happening few hundreds years before Otto's story I'm wondering if there is an order to follow?
These books are actually happening at about the same time as the Portal Wars, give or take a few decades.
@@JamesEWisherbooks but didn't the Bishop said that she was on this planet for a bit more than 400 years since her master left to return to his home world? And in the Portal Saga the Arkain Lords disappeared more than a thousand years before Otto ?

A year on one world might not be the same as a year on another depending on their orbit. In the portal wars I think the Arcane Lords have been gone for 700 years. I could be wrong on that since I haven't read the books in a while. Glad you're enjoying the channel.

I cannot wait til the next series, I'm really hoping this one will be entwined with its counterpart at some point. There were so many questions left unanswered, to many openings that weren't given light. I was gonna collect the "counter part" series first but starting with this one seems just as good an idea. Then I'll collect my favorite series. As always you spin a truly impressive story James.

Just got through the whole saga. I really enjoyed it, thanks James! Is there any of your books that you would recommend as the next one? I've been through both this and the portal wars. My personal preference was the portal wars thanks to its focus on building the magic of the world and even more the Mc being not entirely the best person to root for while still being likeable. Of course the Mc being as strong as Otto was also enjoyable. What should I go for?

I wish I could turn these into an anime. These and all the rest of your work. I think a well designed anime would fit the story and allow for better details than a real life movie or show. (Not to mention cheaper) I'd only enjoy it if it follows the books verbatim. Any deviance would disappoint and in my opinion possibly ruin the plot and careful writing you have done. That's why I'd say anime. Very good at focusing on a story more than appearances

How long does it take you to write these 6 hour books?
First draft 6 -8 weeks. Then it goes to the editor followed the proofreader. Probably 3 months to a finished book. Some of that time does overlap. For example, while the editor is working on one book, I'll be drafting the next.

Writing good books is the most important thing. Next is quantity. The more books you have, the easier it is for people to find your work. A fairly large body of work also demonstrates that you're serious and have been at this for awhile which helps give people confidence. Other than that, just get your work out in as many places as possible to give yourself the best chance of being found. Best of luck.

7/10 for me
I didn't expect to be THIS invested into the story, what got me hooked was the concept of two people having 1/2 of a complete soul, it was intriguing and from that point on I watched and finished the series in the span of three weeks
Really my only complaint was that I wish the love story between joran and Alexandria could've been a bit fleshed out more
And that the final confrontation with the arch bishop, kasher and joran felt a bit underwhelming
But overall I still onjoyed it, gonna play on listening to the other books next
