You definitely have to work at it - I think of music memorisation (and this is probably an oversimplication), sort of like learning to drive somewhere. You don't memorise every single metre of the road, you memorise in section and have "landmarks" in the music that prompt to the next section. (yeah, it's hard to describe :D )
We had to leave Elephants World with our pianos at the start of the pandemic. At that time inter-provincial travel was prohibited, we were required to stay in Bangkok. Due to the pandemic many of the elephants I used to play for went to other places and almost all the staff were let go due to lack of visitor revenue as Thailand closed its borders to international visitors. The elephants were fine during this time, local farmers donated food regularly. It was the people that looked after the elephants that suffered, especially those with families that suddenly had no home or income. So, during these past 2 years we shifted our focus on helping them. We recently returned to Elephants World and will post an update about the elephants and the mahouts.
@@PaulBartonPianoI bet the elephants miss your beautiful music. Definitely it has healing effects and is powerful for any animal who has been traumatized. ❤
Philip Glass is often called a "minimalist", but is your Glass half empty of half full? I'd say there were enough notes and variation. Call me an optimist. 😉
His music needs to be played more often... and this well.
Thank you.
Thank you Paul! It amazes me how you or anyone can memorize this or any musical work of art. My first time hearing of Philip Glass. Loved it.

In comparison to composers like Chopin or Liszt. He most certainly is a minimalist. But his his work is still beautiful nonetheless
