This song always hits hard. I did hospice at my home for my mom’s last 3 day, & now my dad is 97, I help care for him along with my sisters.
Taking care of a loved one those days before they die is an honor & privilege, and absolutely gut wrenching at the same time.
Miss my mom so much, she was my person.

I am glad your father is still here. What a long jorney to have been able to travel together and those memories will stick with your forever.
I lost both of my parents in 2022 at the age of 30. They almost got to see me graduate from university, and when I did it felt such a hollow victory. It changes you. Things that used to matter suddenly no longer matter at all and things that you took for granted or did not care for suddenly become the most valuable things you could have. I miss my parents dearly. Next week is mothers day and I drove 2h to go and put a few candles and flowers to their grave. I cried, a lot.

I took care of my mom. I understand. I went through anxiety after her passing. Waking up and just not knowing what to do. There was no Oatmeal to make and cup of coffee with 1 sugar. All the daily hustle...just gone. It took me 3 weeks to realize I actually had hobbies before I was a caretaker. But I would gladly go back and do it again. If anything to just say the things I didn't say when I should have.

That really is his father, who at the time of this song, needed a kidney transplant to avoid his death but couldn’t get a donor, but almost too late,a relative came forward to donate his kidney and james blunts dad survived.
Powerful vid though, done in one take at James’s request.

    • @kvoltti
      @kvoltti Месяц назад +40

It should also be noted the reason his father needed the transplant was because he had previously donated a kidney and was down to one. This song and the press it got is why the distant relative reached out. When they finished shooting the video the crew were beside themselves with tears. James' dad said "Why are you all crying I'm still here" or something to that effect.

I lost my dad a little over 4 years ago. He taught me car repair, self reliance, how to be a good man and how to be a great husband. Everything I am is due to his teachings. I am still devastated and trying to deal with the fact that he isn't a phone call away when I need advice. This song destroyed me the first time I heard it.

You're very lucky. My father was a cheater, an embezzler, and a manipulator that finally fully vanished from my life when I was 17. Told his whole side of the family to cut off me, my brother, and our mother...... for literally no reason at all. He taught me everything not to be in a man I guess, but I'm in my late 40s, a disabled Marine veteran who's longest relationship was 3 years. 2 kids with an ex wife that I struggle to have a relationship with because frankly between my father and the military I'm just fucking numb a lot. I try to care. I try to feel, but a lot of the time I just fucking can't. I can't even say I'm depressed. I just kind of.... am. If that makes any sense. I just feel detached kind of and forever alone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorry you had such a creepy Dad. My Mother a lovely women passed last year. I miss her so much. My Dad was similar to your but he didn't take off. His abuse feed me up for live. He is a narcissist. They also make nastiness to other family members or friends so they look good and we look like crap. My Dad turned many of relatives away from me with his twisted lies. I am also disabled, I suffer from depression and CPTDS. I rarely hear from my siblings. I also physically disabled which makes socializing and keeping friends hard. My Dad taught me not to trust others, that people can be two faced.
My Mom was my best friend and it very hard with her gone. All I can say is if you need help make sure to ask for help. Feeling numb isn't any fun. I gone through that many times. Please think about getting some conseling. It can help to talk about it. It hard going it alone. My family doesn't even invite me to holidays. I know that I did nothing to them to be cold towards me. I am trying to find family in those who actually care about me. I not doing so great right now but I am hanging in and continue to do my therapy. I have to to go on with life even though my trauma tells me to isolate. I just doing baby steps. My thoughts are with you.

Amazing reaction. I was raised at a time when men were supposed not to cry. If you felt a teat coming, you get up and take.a walk. But this s9ng does bring a tear every time I hear it does bring a tear. My dad was a rock the first time I saw my dad cry when my brother was killed in an accident . It destroyed my mom. I felt I had to be strong for the family , so I buried it. That was a mistake because it led me down a dark path of anger and drinking. I am 21 years sober now, sometimes being a rock leads to several being left in your head. We lost Pops in 2021 he had COPD and dementia so at 85 he passed. The greatest thing was my brother's and sister, along with nieces and nephews all came during the 2 weeks he laid in palliative care. We had so many laughs living old times. Singing and joking, remembering our experience. Our family is spread throughout Canada, so it was healing to have that time with each other. This song brings heartache and learning to cope, so it does bring a tear. I guess I went from Rockhead to an old softy.

Years ago I bought his first album after hearing "You're Beautiful" by him. Every single male I knew tried to ridicule me. I have always wondered why. Now I know. James Blunt has an unusual talent. He is one of those rare men (Ren is another) who has the capacity to sing directly from the heart. Naturally, women love that. The men, not so much. The inability to express the heart is a male curse that women usually have to pay the price for. I can't imagine listening to a cover of this.
When they finished this recording the whole studio was weeping except for his Dad who said, "Why are you all crying? I'm not dead yet." He is a military man. It seems he survived his immanent death.

There is a Mother/daughter cover to this song. Both remind me of my mama, an daddy
My mama passed 8-17-22 an as i was holding her an singing this song to her. We both were crying cause she realized she was dying (complications from a stroke) as she was on hospice an i got the honor to care for her for 4mnth till her last breath. I will never regret being her caregiver. 8mnth later i lost my dad 5-4-23 from stage 4 copd. I had pleasure an honor to be both their caretakers till the very end. My dad was so scared of the unknown an i tried my best to calm him. So maybe it was ment to stay between us.

LOVED this reaction. I was actually waiting for you to react to it because you're so in tune with your emotions. So yeah, this song nearly destroys most everyone that hears it because it's VERY personal. I lost my dad years ago so this one hits very close to home. That truly was his dad in the video that THANKFULLY got the kidney he needed so he's still with us but at the time he very well couldn't have been. This one is hard to watch but very cathartic at the same time. So glad he sang it and you reacted to it!! A+ my dear.

James Blunt is a great talent. He became famous through his song “Your Beautiful”, however I would recommend checking out “Goodbye My Lover”, such a beautiful song.
Also, he’s known for being hilarious on Twitter, exceptionally dry humoured and sarcastic.

You're really putting yourself out there, Aileen. You showed a great deal of vulnerability in reacting to this song and you didn't hold back. Thank you. I noticed at the end, you seemed to have come to the realization that there was some brightness to the last verse, like a resolution or resolve that makes us smile in the face of such darkness. Bravo, young lady.

Hi Aileen 😊 You are a very empathetic person and it's wonderful because that's who you are and we love you so much for who you are 😊 Condolences for your grandma as your emotion shows us you loved her very very much. I lost my mother in 2009 and to this day I still miss her... wish we had our talks together... thankfully I had a job to go to after her passing. As you know, it is the part of cycle of the life and we manage day to day. James Blunt has had a remarkable music career starting in 2004 after leaving the military. In reading about the song Monsters, before watching your video reaction, it is about his father's ailing kidney disease stage 4 and his father was himself a kidney donor. The good news is is that his father received a donor kidney in 2020😊 The sad news is according to a fellow RUclipsr, he passed away earlier this year ☹️ Have a great day you and Arya 😊👍...you are much loved 😊

Thanks for this one. Normally, the reaction videos I watch are of people reacting to songs I know very, very well. That is always fun to see other people reacting to music that is part of my personal soundtrack of my own life. This was different. I've never heard this song done by anyone before. As a man who lost his father to cancer well over a decade ago, I felt every word and every single note of this one. Beautiful song. My father's birthday is on May 5th, and I usually post something on social media about him to remember him. I think this year, it'll be this song. So thank you for the reaction and the song. It truly was a gift. Bless you!

I've heard this song & seen this video numerous times and I still get emotional. My dad passed 4 years ago from Covid. We were not allowed to be in the room with him. We were not allowed to have a funeral. I was told one of the nurses was with him at the time. But he left this world without his family by his side. I've still not come to terms with this.

There’s this Samoan guy that went on American idol I believe and sings this song at his audition. He literally lost it at the end of his audition. His father was his inspiration, sadly his father did die. You should look for him and watch his performances. Every song he sings. He puts it all on the table. You will love the story line behind his singing. I am Tongi is his name. I love that you are real. Showing your emotions just makes you that much more beautiful!! Keep on keeping on!
