C'est absolument magnifique ..grande leçon de chant . Fier d'avoir pu chanter à ses côtés.

I speak french and I understand the words very well. This is a very difficult aria. His diction is perfectly fine. Saelens is belgian and studied partly in Brussels, so he must speak french. Laurence Dale's rendition is beautiful but it is difficult to have a good idea of the actual volume difference. Dale uses the falsetto much more than Saelens. Is Dale's recording a studio one? It makes all the difference in the world! I am reluctant to compare two recordings with different sound qualities.

I know the only name of this opera. I have never heard it before. It is probably worth to look for it. Mr. Saelens is indeed an excellent tenor.

Si vous étiez français vous comprendriez tout . Excellente diction.
Très beau legato et ligne de chant, mais l'articulation n'est pas bonne du tout. Il aspire toutes les consonnes, et on ne comprend rien. Écoutez Nicolai Gedda ou Alfredo Kraus.
This is very nice but, to my mind, not sweet enough for a lullaby. To hear this sung tenderly, as I think a lullaby should be sung, listen to the version by Laurence Dale which was only posted last month. For me, Laurence is perfect.
