Blisters from drumming - How to avoid them

    i got these calluses and blisters from practicing the traditional grip bc i was playing jazz, figured i go watch this vid to avoid it

    Yeah, I was just practicing for less than five minutes before I noticed hot spots and stopped to avoid blisters. Figured that couldn't be normal, so a quick search brought me here.

    I hold the stick loosely and the stick rubs on my pointer finger and after an hour of playing it was starting to hurt is that normal for a beginner?

      Yep, you’ll build up calluses, just stick with it!

    Yea this is no good when you're playing metal, play a solid 2 hour set of hard rock and metal and your hands are trashed, especially if your a hard hitter and playing songs that require you to really put some balls into it to drive the song. Only solution is taping up fingers or drumming gloves

      Oh man I wish I had a dollar for every time I resorted to duct tape because I ran out of bandaids during a show 😂
