Indeed Will, these Timbers (and their variants) are amazing flying planes! You better hang on to that old one (I have an original as well) as they will become collector's pieces for sure! Blue skies to you my friend!

Nice flying John. Funny the difference in flying preference...I run my packs as far back as they will go. Lol. Yeah the power on 3s is silly...silly good! Actually has good power on 2s.

Thanks Adam! Yeah, I've always preferred slightly nose heavy; not crazy mind you, just a bit. Lots of folks are like you and prefer the battery more aft, all based on preference, like you said. And YES, this thing is insane on 3s! I flew the old UMX TT on 2s and thought that one had power...Jeesh!!! Happy landings brother!

Nice connector they have put in there now! My UMX has now a problem although it has been pretty crashed... The motor turns to slow or has too less thrust. I just can keep flying a bit in the air. She is pulling 6-6,5A. Do you think it´s normal? Maybe after the last crash the motor tried to turn or something and had problem.. Sad since I have changed ones the motor and it´s pretty expensive for such a small and crashed plane :P

@@franciscoduran3688 Hmmm, not sure about the amp pull. I remember seeing that these pull about 6 amps, I could be wrong. Maybe you could try to order another motor? Hate to see your plane grounded over that...

This is, in my opinion, HH's best umx. It fly's great on 2s but screams on 3s. The flaps are effective and when landing with full landing flaps it slows down so well and makes it so easy to flair for the perfect landing. I've only flown it in calm conditions but I'm told it can handle a good 10 mph wind. We'll see. One thing I noticed was manual trim adjustment was needed on the elevator and rudder, ailerons took a couple of clicks and that was it.

    • @JustwingitRC

I completely agree with you Terrance! There's really nothing else I could add, you are indeed spot on. Blue skies and happy landings to you my friend!

These are great in a CONSTANT stiff breeze. My son and I can 'Park' our UMX Timber and UMX TT side by side with zero ground speed or even fly slowly backwards.
What they don't like is gusty unpredictable wind.

    • @TerranceNeill

@@infinitesky-59 Thank you, I'll be trying that out in a day or two. I have flown my org. timber umx backwards in a stiff but steady wind. It's awesome to get the plane to do that!

Great video as always! My old UMX Timber is up for renewal after 6 years of regular flying. Its now just way too beaten up and it really shows when I fly my sons UMX TT.
That little first version plane taught me to fly again after many years away from the hobby and also gave many of my friends their first taste of RC flying. It was also my first FPV plane too. Be sad to retire it but its the kindest thing.
Now, do I buy a used first gen or go with this new plane?
One thing to note, the first version has NEVER glitched on me in hundreds of flights and 6 years of flying.
How has your UMX EVO been since?
I quite like the idea of the UMX Timber X too but its a different animal.

    • @JustwingitRC
      @JustwingitRC  Год назад +1

Hey there my friend! I still really like the original UMX Timber, and don't really care for the ball links on the controls of this UMX TT Evo. It flies nice, but it does fly different than the original. Probably a result of the longer nose moment more than torque from the three blade prop. I say IF you can find an original, snatch it up! Otherwise, this one is fine. All the best to you!

Mine is so dialed in. My radio master 16s is all dialed in. Took me a couple weeks to do everything I wanted. Now I take off and land on my carpeted back porch with a hot tub and furniture and doit it comfortably. Now I doit at night and still nail the landings. Night flying is wild. Even did some basic aerobatics at night! I fly every single night! I’ve flown in 17 mph gust no problem.

That's worrying. I never had this EVER with the old UMX TT nor the UMX Timber. I am guessing the X and the EVO share the same flight board?

Hey there my friend!! Not really bitten by the new Twin Timber (at least not yet), having a hard time with it's looks.
