EXCELLENT! I've seen pieces made this way, but never saw the full process. Now I get to try a few to gain the skill. Thank you from Santa Fe, NM Enchanted Woodturners.
If you are going to use your gouge as a scraper, why not just use a scraper? But if you used the gouge like you should, you would get a nice smooth finish.
I believe this was a demo at a turning club so there are time constraints and the avoidance of sanding because of dust generation. In any event, he demonstrated the process, which was the objective.

Enjoyed the video, been thinking about how to hollow using the tools I have so am glad to have found your presentation. Keep well, Rob
As I watch you shape the top left half my mind said "what a great bonsai tree pot it would make. But that's just me. It's gorgeous! 👍🏻🇺🇸
The only flub up I saw was he should have smeared on the wood glue before adding the CA glue, then press the two halves together. Thanks for the info.
The rubber condiments bottles at the dollar store work great for glue ups. They come with a tip cover that snaps on. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thank you Tom, learned a lot. Gonna give it a try.
