musical diaries: unusual, chaotic, awkward...day at the Dresden Grand Garden Palace in the life of a classical pianist
What a beautiful, enjoyable, and insightful episode. Thank you for letting us in…
It was wonderful.
I think I’ve watched every single vlog/diary series. Very enjoyable 🎹
Pretty clear that the talent for story-telling comes through in the playing AND the film-making.
Yay we're in the video, how exciting! Time to show it to Linus, greetings from Dresden
Hey Stefan, thanks for playing at the pop-up! I lost Linus' DM on Instagram, but please tell him I said thanks, too :)
Thank you for the video! I really enjoy them watching😊
Thank you for watching! 😊
It maybe raining there, but there’s always a ray of sunshine whenever the piano starts playing.
What an enjoyable Vlog! That segment about your first pop-up was quite relevant. (I enjoyed your rehearsal video on Patreon too 😉) - Fun fact: The same key incident happened to me and my coworker on one of our pipe organ service trips. Proves that nothing is perfect, LOL.
So glad that you enjoy your stay and consider the city of my ancestors as your second home city, although there's a huge difference between NYC and "New Old" Historical Dresden Downtown. Wishing you the best as always!
Keep it up Tiffany!
Love you Tiffany 😘🥰
Wow! The duo playing boogie woogie was amazing at 24:17 😍😍
Yeah! 😎👏
🇺🇸 This Vlog is truely a treat for happy 4th. Thanks Tiffany💕
Watching these diary chapters is quite an emotional experience. Mainly oscillating around joy, with a hint of sadness. Beautiful music, water-colour impressions, great editing, but how fond I/we have become of Miss Poon over the years is primarily based on her sparkling personality, kindness.
23:10 --- As regards toy instruments, wonder if there are fans of Pascal Comelade in these parts.
You are amazing!🎉❤
I really hope to see one of your concerts someday, you inspire me to keep playing :)
classical music is one of the very best instruments at providing empathy and potentially reducing sadness and depression. It is very much a gift to have people like Tiffany providing such content. I know I am sure thankful for being able to hear and try to play some classical music. She definitely has put in a tremendous amount of work. You are such a gift Tiffany!
I love these vlogs. The pop-up is a great idea! Gives people a chance to find motivation and inspiration with people who share the same passion. Also, with these pop-up events, these bound to be "awkward" moments, it'd be unusually if there wasn't any, to be honest 😄
Haha thank you! 😅 Yes, exactly. I wanted these pop ups to be about having fun with classical music together, less about being perfect. Glad you understood 😃
…and what an amazing venue! 🤩
Love the pop-up, keep this idea going!
Your video intros are very calming
(Omg my kitten is literally watching the video on my shoulder haha)
Awwwwwwww thank you both 😻🤗
I love the voicing of the truamerei!
❤❤❤❤
Glad im not the only one who chooses at times to sleep in until i really have to wake up.. Love your videos!
the end was great ..
Thank you for your insights in what was a lovely concert in an interesting venue.
Was the recording of the concert made for the festival, or was this done on behalf of DW as part of the film?
Ahh your back!!!
was the boston good to play
Shout out to the guy who actually had the courage to play classical at the end of the video with Tiffany Poon standing and watching!!
Random question, where's your white and black blouse from, it looks super cool!
And I really appreciate that you take time to show other people the "behind the scenes " of touring life🙏
Hey Tiffany! Love the vlogs. Odd question, but I'm kind of surprised that you are able to play the Schumann Toccata since I always imagined you had smaller hands. Can you reach a tenth over the keyboard? I have small hands myself, and I've always been sad that I can't play that piece since i can't reach an over-the-keyboard tenth.
omg - loved this so mucch!
Hi tiffany, hope you are doing well, i hope you will do other meet up soon, i wanted to come in dresden but i couldnt! :(
Thank you! I hope to organize Together with Classical pop ups more in the future 🤞
Wish I could do some violin / piano dueting w ya. Wherever the heck u r. I liked your Libestraum
Oh, so that's it! I've been watching her practice video on Patreon, and I wondered where she got such a tall tripod to hold her camera at the back of the hall, and who the people were wandering around while she played. Now I know the answer to both questions! 🤔🙂
I got second-hand awkwardness watching you do that staged entry and introduction for your pop-up event.😬
Looked very fun though
I kind of always wondered,
What would you say to Schumann if you could talk to him?
I would say thank you and humbly ask his opinion on the current classical music culture and society
😘😘❤❤❤❤❤😘😘
You are just so adorable haha. I hope to see you play live someday
I kinda wanna know what u think about bach.. like just in general
His keyboard music is stimulating for the fingers and for the brain 🤓
@@TiffanyPoonpianist totally 😃
Schumann said good things about Bach.
💖💖💖
Rachmaninoff composed some of his 3rd concerto in Dresden.
❤
fun vlog. would have watched a 45-minute one, too
25 MINUTE TIFFANY VIDEO!!!!!!!!
😬 If you watch all the way through, thank you. I couldn't cut it down anymore from 2 hours... 🙈
Tifanny will you ever come Singapore to perform?🎹🎹🎹
Tiffany, I do not think we have heard you play Schumann's romances op 28 (no.2 was appropriated by Benno Moiseiwitsch). I really want to hear your performance of them.
You can seriously make samples and sell the rights to Roland for the acoustics in that concert hall !
is there a hall nowadays, that did NOT appear in a number of IR libraries? 😄
How do you adjust to each instrument so quickly?
Would you ever consider doing an uncut video of you just practicing at the piano?
I've been posting hours of that exclusively on Patreon ;) www.patreon.com/tiffanypoonpianist
@@TiffanyPoonpianist Nice, will look into that (once I get my next paycheck tho lol)
japanese temakisushi,great !
Tiffany I know you as very gifted musican you do not have paraninoyia you are just ingrossed in your work stange sound become exsadurated food is what you need. Rain is good for a clean start. Love ya stop stressing you will get there in the mole hills are not mountains they are mole hills be positive. 🌹🍋xx :) ❤
💖🌺💖🌹🍀👍🤗
Are you performing in California USA anytime this year?
where is this place?
Goodness, couldn't they at least have tuned the piano at the cafe? Anyway, I love your videos. Have you done a video on how not to be boring at the piano? For some of us, the sound of most pianos is not beautiful or gripping in the way a violin, cello, or great human voice can be.
And of course, it's hard to vary the tone of a piano, impossible to add vibrato, and every note decays.
The obvious solutions include touch, articulation, voicing, and use of dynamics. Glen Gould's Bach shows us how engaging clear articulation can be. But Gould also shows how a quirky, self-indulgent performance can diminish the listener's experience. And too many pianists, in an effort to be expressive, lose the rhythm or forward momentum of a piece. Other pianists play in ways that become predictable.
Not you. Your playing is natural and full of feeling, but always seems true to the intentions of the composer. It's neither predictable nor boring. It's honest. Thanks!
And as Tiffany got used to speaking to her own personal camera, a bigger, impersonal one is thrust to her dead center during a pop-up for fans.
Such is life for a public figure - where the Truman Show becomes a reality.
Hii
The Chopin at the end in the Cafe worked really well I thought. You looked very attractive at the Palace. Did you have a meal at the Cafe ?
3:58 was the boy looking sad because of the temperature was too high or the humidity was too low? If it's because of the temperature, maybe German's thermometer is different from tropical country's thermometer 😂😂
😂
Hi

Berlin has a great big gay scene too. It is seemingly party mania weekend after weekend.
Perhaps it would be good for her to lighten up a little and get involved with the blues and jazz scene for a while.
Or maybe even something more special than this.
* * *
This is the second water cistern lookalike venue I have seen her perform in.
The owners could have finished with the plaster work before inviting performers.
I don't know what ' lighten up ' is supposed to mean. Classical music is what she does.
@@pianoreigns Oops.
It tends to repeat a feeling of sombreness. The choice of repertoire. Maybe a change of scene and genre would serve to educate an aspiring musical intellectual. To learn is to grow.
Jamming with blues and jazz players at a village festival. Interviewing blues and jazz players back stage for a publication. Things to help exercise and awaken inert internal ability.
A wee momentary change to the program.

It surely is a nice marketing idea to play classical music in unusual places (and Deutsche Welle assigned you this café) but the pianos found in such places are usually bad. In this case, the instrument might be good enough for banging a boogie woogie, but Chopin's 9/2 nocturne on this piano makes you sound like an amateur. Not your fault at all, the piano is out of tune, the accompaniment in the left hand gets way too loud and the melody is not singing. If I had been there, I would have stopped playing this instrument immediately.
Just wanted to say your such an attractive girl your gonna find a boyfriend very soon in the future ☺️
Btw. I just played debussys reverie
waited too long to get a dude.
She will become 30 yo lonely 🐷 soon
Yes it great anywhere in that autotorium just go do what you do best play🫶❤️🦘✌️
That swimming sound is nothing, from across the world it sounded like the Titan submersible triple parked at Aquaman's strip club POOF it's a burger.
Tiffany Poon is not only an accomplished pianist, but she also dissipates a migraine headache. 🎼 🎹
😅 I hope your head is okay for the long term!
And you don't need a prescription.
Tiffany my love, you don't need to be so self conscious all the time, I understand you're quite young in your 20s, so take it from an almost 40 years old broad, you're loved and appreciated. Not many people have your determination and unrelenting self-discipline to pursue your dreams, a listener at a time.
Though I love your cute shyness, you're letting social anxiety get in the way of a great time. Remember this: You've worked really hard to get where you are, remember the countless hours of studying and practicing the piano, doors that were closed so new ones could open.
I wish you the best of luck and success in your pianistic career. Not solely because you "deserve" it (which you do!), but mostly because you've earned it! Keep on keeping on gal 👧🏻 ✨️ You've got this and so much more to come.
Best wishes, happiness & heath, from Rhode Island, USA. ❤️
tiffany looks happier recently 😊
☺️
Tiffany. Thank you for bringing us along and sharing the experience. Like you I am a confirmed coffee ‘holic’ . Oh how I depend on that bean for energy.
Yes. She does and that is heartwarming.
Great pianist. Wonderful person.
The world (generally speaking) loves you Tiffany.
This is a great way to end my night 😊
Hope you have a great night! 🌙
your character and soul shines so brightly. Your playing makes my heart ache, such a masterful display of beauty.
Congratulations! What a moving and beautiful video. Many many years of very hard work and patience paying off. Extraordinary.
You were not wrong about the chaos, but it seems to have worked out well.
This was a very enjoyable entry in the diary. Thank you for sharing them with us.
I think it is a rare thing to have such a degree of self awareness being so young. I agree with your observation about your own performance at times, I could feel how sometimes you put more strength on keys than you wanted.
We love you Tiffany! Your expressiveness when you play is unparalleled! 😊
I love your vibe!!! My favorite pianist, and I'm not exagerating ❤
Ohh thank you! 🙏
Kinderszenen ❤
This channel is so comforting i love it so much
🥰 thank you for watching
I will never cease to be amazed by your wonderful playing. Beautiful music! 💗🎶
I wonder what classical composers like schumann would think of your content
Oh gosh... a daunting thought. I just hope he isn't rolling in his grave from my videos and more importantly, from my playing of music 😳 I hope I'm doing him justice 🙏
@@TiffanyPoonpianist I believe they would appreciate the openness and experimenting, because it involves many young people in active listening to the music and also to the vlog talk and direct discussions, and trying on their own.
167 years after his death a Hong Kong girl traveled from New York to play his music. I think he'd be blown away.
@@TiffanyPoonpianist Very good hahaha
@@TiffanyPoonpianistYour humbleness is beautiful.
WOW you also use canva? 🤩 its very surprising for me since we students also use that application. true, its hard to concentrate and practice when one is tired (especially, for a person like me who has insomnia💀) but the good thing is that it gives more focus on expressing and awareness towards energy conservation ahahahaha. the people were really supportive and prosporous towards classical music and your piano music. i love the cafe☕ good luck in your next projects though! (-one of your supporters from afar!🎹🌙)
When tiffany uploads, I know it ia going tk be a good day.

these vlogs are so interesting to watch, thank you for always making these :D
You look as though you enjoyed sweeping the floor with the big brush ! The rude intruder was perhaps a cleaner. Hotel cleaners often do hold keys to rooms to clean and you need a 'Do not Disturb notice ' on the door. Your brave doing your own Ironing, what would you do if your concert dress went up in flames! Glad you found food, you should not go without food before performing.
