Or that they would've brought it back as a retro battle arena or something. Edit: Remembered which tournament I played. It was Chain Chomp Wheel - Coin Collection.

I hope this mod pack gets released as an ISO patcher because Riivolution doesn't work on my Wii (broken disk reader). Thanks for uploading this :]
I remember the Mario Galaxy one, but when I ran the preservation tool some years ago I guess I had already replaced it locally with a newer tournament. The recreation seems to be how I remember it though.
I always found it interesting how Nintendo decided to do tournaments like this instead of a full mission mode. Back when Nintendo WFC was still live I was only able to play around 6 of these before the service shut down which is a shame! I missed out on so many of the good ones and there was no way to replay any of them once they had gone..y Considering the unused mission mode UI found on the game disk I think they considered all of these for a 'mission mode' at some point but decided against it to promote WFC instead. I'm glad this pack has been made so we can finally enjoy the original (or recreated) versions of the tournaments in a mission mode format
Details of each tournament ●Mario Circuit - VS Race(0:12) The first tournament. The chains of a Chain Chomp in the middle of the course come off, turning it into two stray Chain Chomps, and the number of Goombas on the course is also increasing. Avoid them and aim for the top in the race against the computers. ●GBA Battle Course 3 - Gate Challenge(3:05) In "GBA Battle Course 3," participants compete to see who can pass through all 10 gates on the course in the shortest time. This tournament is limited to Wii consoles. ●Galaxy Colosseum - Spiky Topman Boss Battle(4:58) The stage is the Galaxy Coliseum, a course exclusive to this tournament. Spiky Topman, a guest from Super Mario Galaxy, appears there. Players use dash mushrooms to compete for the fastest time to knock all four Spiky Topmans off the stage. ●Mushroom Gorge - Backwards Time Trial(6:22) Compete to see who can complete three laps of "Mushroom Gorge" in reverse in the shortest time. Jumps have been added to the stage, so the key is to use them effectively. This tournament is limited to karts, and motorbikes cannot participate. ●Coconut Mall - Coin Challenge(9:05) Start in the square in the middle of the course of "Coconut Mall". From there, compete for the time it takes to collect all 50 coins scattered around the mall's exit. ●DS Twilight House - VS Race(10:27) Race against rivals in "DS Twilight House" and compete for the fastest time until you complete five laps. Participation in this tournament is limited to Wii Wheel. ●N64 DK's Jungle Parkway - DK/Diddy Kong Boss VS Race(12:12) Race against Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong in "N64 DK's Jungle Parkway". Instead of normal items, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong scatter endless amounts of bananas on the course. The player must avoid them and compete for the fastest time to complete three laps. ●Koopa Cape - Gate Challenge (15:43) Compete to see who can go through all 25 gates that appear in "Koopa Cape" in the shortest time. Some gates appear in the air, so it's important to pay attention to the direction you're coming out of. ●N64 Skyscraper - Bob-omb Car Time Trial (17:19) Compete to see who can complete three laps in the fastest time on the "N64 Skyscraper." There are 14 "Bomb-Ob Cars" running around the course, and if you touch them you will be caught in an explosion, resulting in a loss of time, so be careful. Participation in this competition is limited to Wii consoles. ●SNES Mario Circuit 3 - Coin Challenge (19:11) Compete to see who can collect all 40 coins scattered around the course of "SNES Mario Circuit 3" in the shortest time. You can get a "Triple Dash Mushroom" from the item box right in front of the start, so the key is to use it well. Participation in this competition is limited to karts. ●Thwomp Desert - Giant Pokey Boss Battle (20:19) A battle with "Giant Pokey" that appeared in place of "Thwomp" in "Thwomp Desert". Compete to see who can hit the bomb wall the fastest while avoiding the attacks of "Giant Pokey" in the center of the stage. ●Luigi Circuit - Wii Wheel Karts Only VS Race (22:17) Race against rivals on the "Luigi Circuit". There are no item boxes on the stage, so the key to winning is to utilize the "slipstream" that is activated when you get behind your rivals. Also, participation in this tournament is limited to karts and Wii wheels. ●Maple Treeway - Coin Challenge (24:38) The stage is a square-like area in the middle of the stage of "Maple Treeway". You compete to see who can collect all 15 coins hidden in the fallen leaves in the fastest time. There are five Hana-chans constantly moving around in the square, so the key is to avoid them skillfully. Also, "Dash Mushrooms", "Stars", and "Bananas" sometimes appear from the fallen leaves instead of coins, so if you use them sometimes, you can shorten your time. ●N64 Mario Raceway - Golden Mushroom Time Trial (25:44) Compete for the fastest time to complete three laps of "N64 Mario Raceway". This time, you can always get a "Powerful Dash Mushroom" from the item box, so you can take shortcuts anywhere on the course. However, there is also an increase in oil and "Pokeys" on the course, so the key is to avoid them and make full use of shortcuts. ●Wario's Gold Mine - Wiggler Boss VS Race (27:53) Compete to see who can complete three laps of "Wario's Gold Mine" in the shortest time. Hana-chan is always running at high speed on the course, and the key is to avoid her while driving. ●DK Summit - Gate Challenge (31:03) Starting from where you were shot out of the cannon at "DK Summit", you compete for the fastest time to pass through all 25 gates that appear from there to the finish line. The key to passing through the gates floating in the air is to carefully align the angles. ●Toad's Factory - Backwards Time Trial (32:26) Compete to see who can complete three laps of "Toad's Factory" in reverse in the shortest time. The key is to make good use of the newly appeared jump platforms. ●Funky Stadium - Coin Challenge (35:15) Compete to see who can collect all 60 coins scattered around the course of "Funky Stadium" in the shortest time. Some coins are floating in the air and some are in the sand, so the key is to adjust the angle of your flight and use the "Dash Mushroom" to your advantage. ●Block Plaza - Time Trial(37:02) Participants compete to see who can complete three laps of the "Block Plaza" in the shortest time. There are multiple routes to complete one lap, so the key is to find the route that will save you the most time. ●GBA Bowser Castle 3 - Gate Challenge(38:56) Compete to see who can go through all 30 gates in the fastest time in "GBA Bowser Castle 3". Some gates appear near "Thwomps", so the key is to avoid getting crushed. Participation in this tournament is limited to karts. ●SNES Battle Course 4 - Coin Challenge (40:33) Compete to see who can collect all 50 coins scattered around the course of "SNES Battle Course 4" in the shortest time. The key is to collect the coins by taking the most efficient route while avoiding the oil set up along the course. ●N64 Bowser's Castle - Karts Only Dry Bowser Boss VS Race (42:07) Race against "Dry Bowser" in "N64 Bowser's Castle" and compete for the fastest time to complete three laps. "Dry Bowser" attacks by spitting flames, so the key is to avoid them while driving. Participation in this tournament is limited to karts. ●GCN Waluigi Stadium - Gate Challenge (46:11) Compete to see who can pass through all 25 gates that appear on the course of "GCN Waluigi Stadium" in the shortest time. The key is to get through the gates that appear at the end of the jump platform at the right angle. ●DS Peach Gardens - Time Trial (47:42) Compete to see who can complete three laps in the shortest time in DS Peach Gardens. Note that there are more Chain Chomps and Choropoos than usual. The item box that Woof Woofs is hanging from contains Dash Mushrooms, so the key to shortening your time is to acquire and use them. ●Luigi Circuit - Bob-omb Car VS Race (50:37) Compete against your rivals on the "Luigi Circuit" to see who can complete three laps in the shortest time. Unlike usual, the time is set in the evening, and there are six "Bob-omb Cars" running on the course. ●Chain Chomp Wheel - Coin Challenge (52:57) In "Chain Chomp Wheel," you compete to see who can collect all 100 coins scattered around the course in the shortest time while being careful of the giant spherical "Chain Chomp." You can get "Dash Mushrooms" and "Giant Mushrooms" from item boxes on the course, so you can use them to collect coins efficiently. Participation in this tournament is limited to Wii Wheel. ●Grumble Volcano - Backwards Time Trial (54:15) Compete to see who can complete three laps of Grumble Volcano in reverse. The key is to make use of the new jump platform on the course. Participation in this competition is limited to karts. ●Galaxy Colosseum - Spiky Topman Boss Battle 2(57:14) Compete to see who can knock all six "Spiky Topman" out of the arena in the "Galaxy Colosseum" in the fastest time. The basic content is the same as last time, but this time, be careful because the stage will fall from the outside as you knock down a "Spiky Topman", making the stage narrower. ●GCN Peach Beach - Coin Challenge (59:15) Compete to see who can collect all 70 coins scattered in the middle of the course of "GCN Peach Beach" in the shortest time. There are five "Poihana" near the coins, so the key is to stun them using the "Green Shell" that can be obtained from the item box. ●DS Yoshi Falls - Trampoline Mushrooms VS Race (1:00:58) Race against rivals in "DS Yoshi Falls" and compete for the fastest time to complete three laps. Part of the stage is blocked off, so the key is to use the newly appeared trampoline mushrooms to cross and connect without falling. Participation in this tournament is limited to Wii Wheel. ●GBA Shy Guy Beach - Crab Enemy Score Challenge (1:03:01) A large number of crabs appear in "GBA Shy Guy Beach". Compete to see who can defeat a total of 30 crabs in the shortest time using various items. (※Even if you defeat a crab, it will revive after a certain amount of time has passed.) ●Bowser's Castle - Harder Version Time Trial (1:04:19) Compete to see who can complete three laps of Bowser's Castle in the shortest time. Compared to the usual, there are more traps and more power (more Thwomps, more flapping wings, faster spinning fire bars, etc.). This tournament is described as a "Challenge from Bowser." ●GCN Cookie Land - VS Race (1:07:45) Race against rivals in "GCN Cookie Land" and compete for the fastest time up to 5 laps. The rivals you will face are four baby characters. In this tournament, both the player and the rivals are limited to bikes.
Details of each tournament (continued) ●GCN Mario Circuit - Harder Version Time Trial (1:09:20) Compete to see who can complete three laps of the "GCN Mario Circuit" in the shortest time. Compared to normal, the number of "Chain Chomps" and "Piranha Plants" has increased, making this a much more difficult game. You can get a "Dash Mushroom" from the item box right in front of the start. ●Daisy Circuit - Gate Challenge (1:11:52) Compete to see who can get through all 22 gates in the shortest time possible at the figure-8 corner in the middle of the Daisy Circuit course. The key is to drift smoothly along the figure-8. ●Dry Dry Ruins - VS Race (1:13:13) Race against rivals in "Dry Dry Ruins" and compete for the fastest time to complete three laps. Only mushroom-type items can be obtained from the item boxes on the course, so you can take shortcuts anywhere on the course. However, be careful as "Pokey" has also been added to the shortcut course. ●Rainbow Road - Karts Only Time Trial (1:16:26) Compete for the fastest time to complete three laps on "Rainbow Road." A large number of "Chain Chomps" have appeared on the course, so the key is to avoid them while driving. Participation in this tournament is limited to karts. ●DS Desert Hills - Pokey Enemy Score Challenge (1:20:06) Compete to see who can defeat the most 10 "Pokeys" that appear on the course of "DS Desert Hills" in the shortest time. Note that the game will not end until you have defeated all 10 "Pokeys", no matter how many times you play. ●Delfino Pier - Time Trial (1:21:14) Compete to see who can complete three laps of Delfino Pier in the shortest time. The routes you can drive change as time passes, so the key is to find the fastest route for each lap. ●GCN DK Mountain - Gate Challenge (1:23:15) Start from the point where you are shot out of the cannon in "GCN DK Mountain". Compete for the fastest time to go through all 20 gates that appear from the start to the finish line. The key is to adjust the angle of the things above the half pipe. Also, the bridge on the straight line after the final corner has been transformed into a trampoline mushroom. Participation in this competition is limited to Wii Wheel. ●N64 Sherbet Land - VS Race (1:24:41) Race against rivals in "N64 Sherbet Land" and compete for the fastest time to complete three laps. There will be more penguins than usual, and penguins that are constantly sliding on their bellies will appear. There are also wooden boxes set up in the cave. ●Mario Circuit - Goomba Enemy Score Challenge (1:28:16) Compete to see who can defeat the 16 Goombas that appear in Mario Circuit in the shortest time. Please note that the race will not end no matter how many laps you make unless you defeat the Goombas. Participation in this competition is limited to karts. ●Luigi Circuit - Wii Wheel Bike Only VS Race (1:30:02) A race limited to bikes and Wii Wheel on "Luigi Circuit". Since no items will appear this time, the trick to getting a high ranking is to make use of the slipstream. ●GCN Peach Beach - Trampoline Mushrooms Time Trial (1:32:16) Time attack at "GCN Peach Beach". Unlike usual, the stage is on mushrooms a little away from the coast, and you have to cross and connect trampoline mushrooms. It is recommended to try it with auto drift at first. ●Moonview Highway - Time Trial (1:34:51) Compete for the fastest time to complete three laps on the "Moonview Highway." Unlike normal traffic, the left lane is also an oncoming lane, so both lanes are oncoming, and the key is to avoid getting run over by regular cars or trucks. ●DS Delfino Square - Time Trial (1:37:27) Compete to see who can complete three laps in the shortest time at "DS Delfino Square." Unlike normal races, dead-end routes appear, and a large number of Goombas also appear on the course. ●Mario Circuit - Wii Wheel Karts Only VS Race (1:40:33) Race against rivals on the "Mario Circuit". Two "Chain Chomps" appear on the course, and the number of "Goombas" has also increased. It's the same as the first tournament, but this time participation is limited to karts and Wii Wheels. ●N64 Bowser's Castle - Dry Bowser Boss VS Race (1:43:22) In "N64 Bowser's Castle," you race against the fire-breathing "Dry Bowser" and compete for the fastest time to complete three laps. The rules are the same as the previous competition, but this time you can also participate on a bike. ●Galaxy Colosseum - Spiky Topman Boss Battle 3 (1:47:13) In "Galaxy Colosseum", participants compete to see who can knock all six "Spiky Topman" out of the arena in the shortest time. The basic content is the same as the past two similar tournaments, but this time, individual "Spiky Topman" that move as if they are running away from the player will also appear.
Being someone that absolutely loved and grew up with super mario galaxy, I never got a chance to play any of the tournaments that used the galaxy colloseum so I had no idea those were in the game !
It’s a shame this isn’t part of the base game. Why Nintendo left all this to tournaments I will never understand. Is Galaxy Colosseum even recognised as a battle map? Could it return?
this brings back so much memories.. me and my mom would plug into this shit and not think for HOURS. she always played yoshi, i played some other character. we have to let go of things every once in a while and we eventually sold our wii.
I find it weird how these were only available as limited online features and now they are locked away unless you have mods. I mean why have these gone, that's such a waste. These would make good extra content, even offline.
i remember when wii still had wifi i would do these all the time when they were released, the boss missions on arena type tracks were my favorites when i was younger
I've never played this mode in Mario Kart Wii, but from what it looks like, it is similar to Mission Mode from Mario Kart DS. It surprises me that they have never made anything like this again for main-series Mario Kart games.
For whatever reason, sometime last year I had access to the coconut mall coin collecting tournament, but on my unmodded wii. I searched online wondering if anyone else was experiencing this but nobody else was. When I found this video I knew I wasn't crazy!
This is so cool, I previously only knew about the spiky top men. It makes me so sad there’s no official way to play the backward courses, race wiggler and the boss cpus and the mushroom version of Peach Beach and Yoshi Falls
By default, I really wish that I could race on all those "expanded amount of hazards" versions of racetracks such as Wii Maple Treeway, Wii Rainbow Road, N64 Mario Raceway, GCN Mario Circuit, DS Peach Gardens, and whatever other example there is for official Mario Kart Wii Missions with adjusted courses that add more hazards to them than normal, plus Mario Kart DS also did this on certain missions too (like all 4 Star Cup courses and DS Bowser Castle as well). Delfino Square and Pier with Goombas, I would totally love & enjoy if they were replaced by Strollin' Stus instead. (Sorry if this comment was too long)
I literally never knew about this. The fact that I have never seen a single thing on the entire internet about this until now is insane.

The best tribute of Mario kart ds Mission mode
I always found it interesting how Nintendo decided to do tournaments like this instead of a full mission mode. Back when Nintendo WFC was still live I was only able to play around 6 of these before the service shut down which is a shame! I missed out on so many of the good ones and there was no way to replay any of them once they had gone..y
Considering the unused mission mode UI found on the game disk I think they considered all of these for a 'mission mode' at some point but decided against it to promote WFC instead.
I'm glad this pack has been made so we can finally enjoy the original (or recreated) versions of the tournaments in a mission mode format
Details of each tournament
●Mario Circuit - VS Race(0:12)
The first tournament. The chains of a Chain Chomp in the middle of the course come off, turning it into two stray Chain Chomps, and the number of Goombas on the course is also increasing. Avoid them and aim for the top in the race against the computers.
●GBA Battle Course 3 - Gate Challenge(3:05)
In "GBA Battle Course 3," participants compete to see who can pass through all 10 gates on the course in the shortest time. This tournament is limited to Wii consoles.
●Galaxy Colosseum - Spiky Topman Boss Battle(4:58)

Great to see you back on RUclips man
The fact this is on Mario Kart WII is insane. I have the game and never saw this before😮
Unless you played the game when it was new, sadly all of this was only accessible through the online WFC service so once they were gone that was it!
I saw the Pokey, but not the other bosses.
Good to see you upload more stuff on RUclips:)
Being someone that absolutely loved and grew up with super mario galaxy, I never got a chance to play any of the tournaments that used the galaxy colloseum so I had no idea those were in the game !
HOW HAS NOBODY TALKED ABOUT THIS YET?! That Wiggler boss fight is like the most intense thing ever and that Giant Pokey boss music SLAPS
58:20 BYE Bye Spiky Topman!
1:19:22 DID EVERYBODY SEE THAT?! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! AWESOME I TELL YOU!!!!
Dry Bowser’s fireball would make for an interesting Custom Item
All of this in one run without even restarting. Congrats!!
45:57
what a win
Oh man, I remember doing the mushroom hopping one on peach beach. I really miss these, hope they come back at some point.
That's so awesome. I'm glad you got to share that experience with her
You got a rare mom, my mom hasn't even laid fingers on a controller
I like how you switch every race between characters and vehicles, rather than JUST using Funky Kong in a Bowser Bike! (Boringgg!!!)
30:20 Wiggler got mad
30:53
(She) is now jamming
I used to play Mario Kart Wii when i was a kid, these tournaments missions and bosses were so secret for me
i've been playing this game since 2010, and somehow i had no idea about this... i MUST PLAY IT RIGHT THE HELL NOW! PLEASE TELL ME HOW
Did u find how to play this?
I like how the 33rd - GCN Cookie Land VS Race - is against all the babies.
I do remember playing these as a child. I loved the Dry Bowser race the most
your iruma pic is freaking me out! i hate her! change your thumbnail now!!
22:17 Welcome to the Nintendo Gran Premio d'Italia!
💀💀💀
This is nostalgic
I find it weird how these were only available as limited online features and now they are locked away unless you have mods. I mean why have these gone, that's such a waste. These would make good extra content, even offline.
I really miss it, so nostalgic
I never knew there were bosses or challenges like that.
This brings back good memories :)
really cool these are preserved
This game made up so much of my childhood but I didn’t even know these existed until now
That Yoshi Falls trampoline challenge looks like a Trick variant
i remember when wii still had wifi i would do these all the time when they were released, the boss missions on arena type tracks were my favorites when i was younger
These are so neat!! Gahhh, I missed out on this stuff 😭
Shame they were regulated to tournaments, but at least they were made playable once again!
Why oh why did these have to be online only in the base game? These were so fun!
I wonder if its possible to do the ultra shortcut in the backwards mushroom gorge course?
1:41:51 Rip
I wish these were still around
I Didn't Know There were even Bosses in the game.
never have i ever seen a fanmade model that looks so mkwii-like in mkwii
10:45 this one rejogged EVERYTHING for me holy shit
Nintendo should definitely bring back Galaxy Colosseum. It has good music, nice visuals and uses an extremely underappreciated Galaxy enemy.
I wish these were included on the disc 😭.
How are you playing these? I haven't been able to access them since online shut down!
1:32:46 this is literally mushroom peaks
28:23 Wiggler cheating
Mii 0/37
“Everybody cheater! Next time I cheat!”
I've never played this mode in Mario Kart Wii, but from what it looks like, it is similar to Mission Mode from Mario Kart DS. It surprises me that they have never made anything like this again for main-series Mario Kart games.
42:26: Final Boss and Final Stage
These are really good missions.
I had heard about this before, but I've never seen it until now, and wasn't able to do it as a kid.
i been trying to knock off the topman but it just keeps acting like i just bumped into it normally even if i use a mushroom
Wow this whole time I thought this was all some vivid dream.
I only remember doing the one on shy guy beach lol I wish I got to do more
I remember doing a few of these YEARS ago.
For whatever reason, sometime last year I had access to the coconut mall coin collecting tournament, but on my unmodded wii.
I searched online wondering if anyone else was experiencing this but nobody else was. When I found this video I knew I wasn't crazy!
Same but with the Funky Stadium one
I had access to the gates on DK Summit
Man i was too young to play or even understand the online side of mario kart wii. I wish i couldve experienced it!!
Is this, Midnight, Riivolution, and CTGP possible to get on Wii U?
Yes
@@Jcool114 thanks
Is the Wii U possible to get on the Wii U?
@@louiswolfe5012 Yes
@@Jcool114 is there any sort of tutorial on RUclips?
minuto 44:16 LMAOO dry bowser algo getting thr star super power GOT ME😂😂😂 for no reason!! what a difficult level!! 3 fireballs !!! too much haha
Is there downloadable mod so I can do this?
It's in description
I only did the Funky Stadium coin challenge, but these look so cool!
42:35 that shit is intense
There should be a leaderboard for this, now that it is much more accessible.
I played a few of these missions back before the shutdown of mkw online but we still have wiimmfi
This is so cool, I previously only knew about the spiky top men. It makes me so sad there’s no official way to play the backward courses, race wiggler and the boss cpus and the mushroom version of Peach Beach and Yoshi Falls
I wish the missions were in Mario kart 8 deluxe
So this was real online only and now it’s a mod? That’s too bad. I would’ve loved to play these.
Online only sadly once they were gone that was it
Are these even still available to play I remember only doing a few of them years ago
