@@MinidiscAu yeah I'm really looking forward to hearing it someday, although unbeknownst to much of my audience I have ordered an SA6 for myself recently and should get it in a few days, so looking forward to that even more
@@metal571 I've heard really good things about the SA6 but I've yet to listen to those 😔 meanwhile I just got my Tripowin Olinas yesterday and I'm thoroughly impressed so far
These are shaping up (based on the early impressions so far) to be an ideal IEM for me, looking forward to their release here in the US. I prefer 1xDD IEMs and currently primary a modified JVC FD01 (feedback of which led to the development of the FDX1 release from Drop) and I've been waiting ages for a competent Senn IEM that hits the sweet spot, much like my trusty HD600. Cheers!
@@yooanto9465 I would say the HA-FD01 is still good in some aspect, but not like it was (comparatively speaking) in late 2018...and that's considering the requisite mods are done and the owner/modder was able to measure them for consistency. Due to that extra effort needed, I'd typically not advise anyone pick one up over the more recent HA-FDX1 which has the built-in filters, but I'm not sure if those are in stock/available anymore either. The FD01 at release was around $350 which at the time was a bit higher than I felt they were worth (but also at the time, people were comparing them to the discontinued EX1000 as a viable alternative for top tier single-dynamic performance), now they can be had new for around $200 which is much more reasonable, but since the FDX1 was also around $180-200 it made more sense to go with that. All that said, currently in 2022 what single-DD would you recommend at or under the $200 USD price point? From my perspective, a lot has changed since 2019 and there are many more competitive options in the single-DD sphere (or single driver options in general, with the rise of cheaper and better tuned / more technical planar drivers). Given the fit works for someone, I'd probably be recommending the 7hz Timeless at the ~$200 price point now, but there are some other competitive options around there and even below that price too depending on the signature or presentation you're after, that have very high technical performance. Mind you, these are all single-driver options and there are many more competitive options with multi-driver setups if you're into that. Now that the IE600 has been out for a while with more reviews/analysis (including my own) it's clear they have the best ratio of well tuned -to- performance of any Sennheiser IEM to date. However, they're still roughly a 'U-shaped' signature, recessed overall in the mids if you will, relative to something like the modded FD01/FDX1 which is more neutral presenting (with a bit of forwardness in the upper mids). You also have to consider the IE600 is still 3x as expensive, but it is lighter weight, more ergonomic and (I'd suspect) more durable...plus it has a more fun/exciting presentation. So those aspects alone can be worth the price and I'd categorize it as a better option for non-critical 'neutral' listening (traveling, being outside walking, etc.) which is something I tend to prefer in an IEM, as I'm less frequently using IEMs at home when I have better sounding full sized headphones or speakers. If you must use an IEM at home or are in a quiet environment, the JVCs are still great for their specific and more neutral presentation IMO. That said, something like the 7hz Timeless while it's not the most ergonomic or may have a lesser build quality is I'd say more neutral overall (with easier/softer treble presentation) and much more competitively priced, so depending on the circumstance I may bring those instead. It would be easier to swallow losing/damaging a $200 IEM over a $600 one anyway. But that just goes to show it's all circumstantial.
@@flockofwildcactus 7hz Timeless is really not that good . Many reason I didn't like it: very bad hazzy timbre when compared to dynamic driver: final E4000 or xelento. Bass is not texture or detailed there is some missing part like some weird dip. Vocals sound covered like it's not natural doesn't have ability to capture detailed and emotion. Treble is fatiguing. Soundstage is tall but there is no depth like it's very limited. Not good enough to keep it. maybe next release they can do much better.
@@yooanto9465 I've only demoed the Xelento but did have a Final E4000 for a while and I can certainly see that with the treble specifically. Treble can be tricky to get right on single-driver IEMs but when it is done well (forward or recessed) it can be pleasing. I'm not getting that much from the Timeless myself, but I can say it is definitely softer or less dynamic than most dynamic IEMs I've tried. One thing I will say from personal experience with the Timeless, and I've seen others mention this too, is it's extremely fit-dependent and thus can be picky with the tip selection for the user to get a good fit/seal. I think it's going to vary from person to person more than most IEMs on how it sounds due to that. The lack of depth in the Timeless is noticeable though for me and other impressions I've read, so that is pretty universal. I do hope for a more refined V2 and maybe with a redesign on the housing shape to make it a bit more accommodating. I think many of us are always in pursuit of that great single-driver IEM but as time goes on, I learn that most of the best ones among the community always have their pros and cons, so it's a matter of the individual to find the one that works best for them. For what it's worth, I've retained my Final E1000 and E4000 to this day as I still enjoy them quite a bit, the E Series is not the greatest but it hits at certain moods. :) Cheers!
Extremely impressed with this. Particularly paired with the Mojo 2. I find it fairly source dependent as with 4 different sources I found large differences in sound signature, depth, width and impact. Probably my favourite DD iem and they are super comfortable which is a bonus
I still really like the Z1R. It doesn't excel in any particular area but presents a natural sound with a great soundstage, and is still very competitive at this price as long as it fits your ears.
@@MinidiscAu Thank you very much for this, it's been on my wishlist since its first inception! But now that I'm finally in a position to consider it (potential fitment issue aside), it's been tough given all these standout newcomers.
GOT IT! I have EQd on wavelet it cos i dont habe a dacamp maybe its about time.i get the dacamp ibasso dc06 maybe or just 03?.... But would you say that on terms to increase the volume ceiling it definetly needs a one because my samung A13 is at max volume most of the time with EQ amped up
Have my Ie 600 running off iPad/Apple Music/dragonfly red and generally happy with the sound quality, BUT WHAT IF I got a FIIO M11S? How much percentage increase in terms of sound quality can I expect to get? Would appreciate your input very much, thanks
This is a tough question (small differences may be big differences to other people) but we would say the difference may be quite subtle - between 5-10% - as the IE 600 is not particularly challenging to drive. Most of the differences we could point to are from being able to use the balanced connection, a DAC that can decode 192khz+ sample rates on the M11s, and lower amplifier distortion on the M11S. The sound will be slightly cleaner as a result, but it's possible you will prefer the sound with more harmonics from the Dragonfly!
