To me it doesn't smell like Mon Guerlain at all. Mon Guerlain is softer and creamier , Libre is very edgy, herbal and bold . Very strong and not for young girls . Both are beautiful 😍

I agree it has a few notes in common with Mon Guerlain but doesn't smell like it at all to me. I have all the Mon Guerlain perfumes and I got Libre today and where Mon Guerlain is very feminine Libre is more androgynous to me like they have amped up the cologne feel of it. Libre lasts for hours on me and I like all the different stages of this perfume on my skin. I don't think this is for young girls really but then I was wearing Shalimar in my early 20s! Mon Guerlain is still my current favourite but I do appreciate the move back towards more complex scents, a lot of the market is saturated with sugary sweet scents at the moment.
I love orange blossom and this combined with vanilla and musk is a great combination. It's an elegant,sweet,soft scent,strong but not loud. To me it has a hint of powder scent and the sweet scent remains. I am very happy with it. Was searching for a long time and I finally found a great perfume. I highly recommend it.

I blind purchase it because of your review and love the packaging... Smells familiar but i love it, 2 spray is enough. After 6 - 8 hrs i can still smell it. I love perfume with lasting power. Thanks for ur review

This is a strange one. At first I thought "what were they thinking????". But now after about 5 applications I started loving it. Now I find it loooovely!! Interesting and complicated...
OMG I just got this and I love it. It lasts all day on my cloth. It's smells so sophisticated and sexy. I def recommend. I don't normally like lavender and I usually wear Chanel coco mademoiselle and chance but this was different. It makes me feel I'm on too. If the world. So confident.

I bought it for my mom yesterday and it’s amazing, I sprayed it on myself and it lasted for a looooong time, my hair even smelled the next day!
I hated Mon Guerlain on me, smelt like old lady lavender. But Libre is stunning, I love the unisex opening, felt like I was surrounded in a cashmere blanket. It’s warm and beautiful.

I ended up purchasing the travel size out of curiosity, I feel like it really reminds me of dior addict, without the vanilla, which happens to be a favourite of mine. I really like it so far. Not as sweet as mon guerlain or other ysl, perfumes, which I am really liking! Finding the perfect amount of sweet so that it doesn't err into musty, and not too sweet to feel juvenile is a difficult I find, so I am really liking this one so far :) my little review on it.

I was sent this sample in a box from a recent purchase of other perfumes. I think it's ok. It smells fine but it's so ordinary. With scents like black opium and mon Paris from their line this is underwhelming. So for me it's a no. However, I can't wait for Mon Guerlain intense. I can't even find a sample of that yet.
My mom bought this for me when she was in Poland. I'm excited to try it.

Elle by YSL has olso lavender on it , YSL used lavender on there fregrances before Guerlain release mon Guerlain.
There are several scents that have used lavender way before Mon Guerlain, but I think that the base of fragrances made these days (i.e., modern scents) is so different from what was allowed way back when that the fragrances smell different. IFRA has restricted so many notes for various reasons and the richness of fragrance has gone to the wayside because of it, unfortunately. Nothing now will ever smell quite as lush, full, heady and deep as before IFRA regulations and I'm sure for some that's a breath of relief LOL (I lived through the era of Poison, Obsession, Opium, and Giorgio Beverly Hills before reformulations declawed them and I can't say I miss them at all).
Elle does not have lavender in it. The only YSL fragrance with lavender in it is kouros for men.
@@Thestrawberriii Actually Rive Gauche Pour Homme and La Nuit de L'homme also have lavender, but since I avoid fragrances with that note (generally speaking), I can't say how strong the lavender note is in them. Maybe Elle smells like it has lavender in it from the patchouli (another note I avoid).

Im Impressed with the bottle but not a true fan of the fragrance. The opening is nice the dry down is nice but once it dries away it smells very masculine. This is a perfume I find must be reapplied before it dries off. I feel like I smelled this before. A perfume from the 90's. 🤔 I know I smelled this before.

I don't really get that Mon Guerlain too much from this. Mon Guerlain is just vanilla and lavender and Libre has some lavender but it has so much going on in it. It smells like Alien Eau Extraordinaire, but a stronger version of it with a bit of lavender. It provides a sparkling feeling or note combination and a sharpness also akin to Chloe Nomade. I really like it and believe it stands on it's own as a good fragrance even though parts of it do smell familiar. This would be great to wear for work or when you want to feel like you have your shit together...lol I'm planning to get this.

I love both Mon Guerlain and this. Do you not pick up the jasmine notes in Mon Guerlain? That is what makes me love it so much that I have the original and the Eau Florale, then last month I bought the rose bloom version which is a pretty scent and more feminine, men seem to love perfumes with rose notes. Libre to me has more of that cologne feel about it, very androgynous and I love that, it feels kind of powerful. I have been known on occasion to wear men's cologne and this is a great mix between feminine and masculine to me.
@@shendisackett it's very soft and I feel the vanilla and lavender dominates. I prefer the original one over the Florale and Rose Bloom...but I have smelled the new Intense one and now I think that one is my favorite!
@@boogiepimp78 I want to try the intense one, I have a feeling I will love it. I can pretty much tell now from reading the notes in a perfume if I will like it or not, I just have an obsession with perfume. The Eau Florale I love because they really upped the jasmine content and I love jasmine but I find it doesn't last as long on the skin as the original. The rose bloom has a different character altogether it feels like a spring or summer scent to me. It's a shame they only made it in EDT.
Just because it has lavender doesn't mean it smells like Mon gurlian...Tom Ford has a lavender too ...they don't all smell the same. This perfume is very strong. Don't know what you're talking about and this isn't girlie at all it's musky.

I agree Jodie. A lot of people who have Mon Guerlain are saying it doesn't smell the same to them and it definitely doesn't to me. To me Libre is more masculine and very sexy, don't get me wrong I love all the different versions of Mon Guerlain but they are very feminine. Libre is a very bold fragrance so it's a bit loud for some people. It does have a couple of notes in common with MG but they smell different.
I recently tried a sample of this and liked it enough to get a purse spray. To my nose it's VERY strong and lasts 24 hours. I have to spray it very lightly, the tiniest little spritz, but I do love it to bits. Since it's pricey I'm glad a little goes a long way on me. This little purse spray should last me a lonnng time.
Lavender is actually used more in men’s cologne then in woman’s perfume.
This, too, came in a sample in one of the magazines. I rubbed it on my skin and bummer! It smells like a dupe of Carolina Herrera's Good Girl. Ugh! Big Let down. Much in the same way that the dry down of Dior Joy smells like Daisy Live away So Sweet (which has also been compared to the new Lancome Idole.) I read an article that major houses reuse the same DNA as established perfumes as a way to save money or a way to compete in market. The designer market just resells us the same formulations over and over again with just a tiny bit of tweaking. 😡

It's true and it's the reason why fragrances start smelling the same after a while, especially from designer brands. It also has to do with the noses behind the fragrances, moving from house to house, sometimes across rival brands and bringing that same DNA to a rival house. Frankly, I'm becoming a bit bored of designer releases lately because they all seem to fall down that fruitchouli rabbit hole for women and the ambroxan rabbit hole for men. Everything either smells like Dior Sauvage or La Vie Est Belle with tweaks and it's annoying.

I love the first few minutes, but sadly it disappears very quickly on me - however, I am eagerly awaiting the new Libre Intense, please do a review to compare, if you can! I am hoping that scent is a heavier evening scent with better longevity and sillage.

So Mon Guerlain and Alien got frisky behind closed doors and boop--YSL Libre LOL! I won't be bothered to try it since I can't stand lavender/vanilla mixed together in perfumes (love it in non-body care items like laundry detergent or candles), but that bottle is gorgeous.

Just arrived here in Canada. It's funny how we all get different notes. I don't like lavender and I don't really smell the lavender, just a little bit but really not overpowering. I mostly get the orange blossom and it reminds me a lot of JPG classique at first spray, which I like very much. I don't get either the Alien resemblance. I like the fragrance. Enough to buy? Not sure but I appreciate the smell. Thanks for the review!

I actually didn’t like it at first, but I loved it after about an hour. I agree that it does smell similar to Mon Guerlain, my first impression was that it smelled like zebra stripped bubble gum.

If you're referring to the Mon Guerlain Florale,I can see the similarities,but to the orginal Mon Guerlain that's really strong! I spritzed it twice and it was was to much so I gave to my mom! (And now she loves it!)
Now the Libre is alot softer in my opinion and is right down my alley as far as fragrances go and I'm not sure about Mon Paris,(and they also have a new Mon Paris out also,haven't quite got the complete name yet?)...I'd like to try the new Mon Paris out,the other one, e) But Mon Paris and Idole by Lancome are my 2 iffy fragrances,because they smell good from the bottle but not necessarily so much on me,but maybe I need to give them,another try,but I do very much like Paris,Parisenne,Black Opium Nuit Blanche,and Black Opium,Opium and Ysatis by YSL,
And with Lancome I love Hypnose, Poeme,and Magie Noir,but I have my doubts about La Vie Est Belle..I love the fragrance but I just need a little bit more tone downed..version any suggestions?

The man on the counter told me that it's a dominant perfume for a strong woman cause it has a lavender note in that it's considered a male perfume note . I really like it i got it for Christmas, it's not ground breaking but I like it 🤍

I love Libre. To me it’s intoxicating. It’s not light so maybe it’s more for over 30 but depends on the person.
I love lavender. I was a great fan of Mon Guerlain when it was launched. I wore it a lot and then I smelled it on someone else and I didn't like it. It was too heavy on the vanilla. After that I bought Lavande Trianon from Maison Lancôme and I adore it ! This scent is so comforting to me but definitely not an easy fragrance and not for everyone.
Now I'm curious and I want to try Libre. I suppose the vanilla is what remains on the skin at the end and I'm really picky about it. I have a kind of love/hate relationship with this ingredient 😅

It smels like sex to me. Its spring lust sexy hot.. I have tried it 3 times before buying it. And absolutely obssesed from the first spray. I also have Pure Xs Paco Rabanne, Decadence Marc Jabobs, Olympea Paco Rabanne and Aura Mugler. But this one is my new bomb. I couldnt compare it to any other parfume. On my skin it is.. idk smthg special;) I just adore it, best parfume for now ❤️ & really u can smell only one spray all day & longer..

I absolutely adore Mon Guerlain. I get none of MG from this perfume. As soon as I sprayed it, there was something very familiar. I sniffed my wrist a little later and voila Calvin Klein Downtown. I think I will pass on this one.

I recently broke up with Mon Guerlain because performance is awful. I love it but it was like paying for 1 hour of perfume.
I switched to Libre, I can smell it, it is beautiful, especially the drydown that is not unisex at all. I also have the intense for night out, that one has more vanilla.
I've been waiting for this review! While I'm not a Mon Guerlain fan, I'll still stop and sample Libre. I recently got scentbox and my first pick was Mon Guerlain, too vanilla for me. I was scared by Warm Vanilla Sugar by Bath and Body Works in the early 2000's so vanilla is a no no for me. Great review as always, Soki!

I already get mine since I saw dua lipa in instagram video! I bought the maximum! Its not Chanel nª5 keep calm people...My last perfume was the Interdit from Givenchy. So my taste is quite rebel.Cheers from Portugal.

It doesn't smell like Mon Guerlain to me and I have the 3 main types the original the eau florale and the rose bloom. Mon Guerlain is sweeter and more feminine. In Libre the lavender note is so amped up it smells almost like a man's cologne but then in comes the sweetness so it is very androgynous smelling. It does have similar notes to Mon Guerlain the original but it has enough different notes to not smell the same. Other people on here commenting agree it's not the same smell as Mon Guerlain and definitely doesn't dry down as sweet on me, but as a few notes are the same it does seem if you like Mon Guerlain you will like this as they are a bit more complex than the sugary fragrances which have been taking over. This fragrance makes you feel powerful, I can imagine a female CEO wearing this kind of scent.

You can try the Stella McCartney POP, although the notes are different, its smell is reminiscent of barbie dolls. It is floral and a little powdery like the YSL Parissiene.

It reminds me of Chanel Chance. I’m going to the mall right now and plan to compare the two if I can.
Ok here is the comparison, imo. Both have a sugary sweetness that doesn’t have a fruity conponent. But I would say Libre is much more vanilla-y, thicker, heavier, smoother. Chance smells finer, more delicate, and I had to check yep it was the edp i smelled. I am not interested to buy either but if they come out with a Libre edt version I’ll revisit. Mon Paris remains my preferred YSL.
