Hi mate I know you have sold the bike.. But do you recall the clutch arm and dot alignment after install off the clutch cover were in alignment dot to triangle.. Before you pull the clutch lever in.. On mine Gen 3 22 Europe plate.. The dot to triangle are off set and only are aligned once clutch lever pulled in.. Gen 1 was aligned dot to dot before clutch pulled in.. I've been told Gen 3 is the same.. Just odd.. Europe - US thing I don't know.. Thanks
Do you know if there was any maintenance done to the bike prior to this video? I notice the grooved washer behind the clutch basket, but according to the service manual, it should be between the basket and the inner hub? Thanks!
Yamaha calls them a thrust washer, and there is one behind the clutch basket and another between the inner and outer. They are not identical but very similar. Be sure to put them back in the correct place.
I thought the clutch bearing sounded noisy but couldn't fault it and I thought it would make a interesting video that might help someone who wants to do a clutch or bearing themselves.
One last comment, didn’t notice the noise coming from the clutch area until I switched to the Yamaha synthetic oil? Probably going back next oil change.
Just to add I have 2022 model 4000 miles bought from dealer Sat in garage 6 months first test ride serious clutch judder feathering the clutch out from standing start.. Once moving the clutch is OK.. Dealer said slipper clutches do that.. Absolute rubbish... How's yours standing start... Odd thing is I bought Gen one 16 plate same thing scenario sat in garage 6 months before test ride judder again.. Had new clutch plates put in and friction plates on 16 plate problem gone away.. Now I have to do the same thing on 22 plate what's the odds.. Or maybe couple off plates sticking on 2022 plate.. This time take out and clean or £450 to refit new seller says bring it back to look at it 600 miles trip😢.know chance.. How does yours feel standing start...
OK cheers mate.. Please could you do me one last thing.. I noticed today my dot and arrow on the clutch case cover and clutch arm lever.. Are offset when clutch is not pulled in.. they only line up when I pull the clutch lever in.. Is your Gen 3 the same.. Odd thing is my Gen one 14 one plate we're lined up correct and offset when clutch pulled in same on Gen 2 17 plate as Gen one.. Just Gen 3 I have Gen 2 22 plate.. Just seems odd.. Thanks for any help..

No sorry I don't recall, was quite a while ago.
OK thanks anyway

@@TheMotorcycleForge that’s why I am asking 😂. This video shows the opposite of what the service manual shows.
@tomster008 The spacer between the inner and outer would have been stuck to the back of the inner. Sorry, I didn't show that in the video.
Does the concave stick Outwards or in towards the bike?
@desertrider325 I think it was inwards but it was quite a while ago so not 100%
Did you drain a motor oil before this action?
Yes I did drain the oil.
You don’t have to
I was doing an oil change at the same time.
Did you change or replaced something? If not, why the job?

Thanks for sharing this video
That's the hallmark sound of mt 09 clutches.
Lol, I have a 2019 and a 2021sp. The 2019 makes a fair bit of noise, runs great clutch feels fine.
Noise isn’t so bad after a few minutes of riding.
One last comment, didn’t notice the noise coming from the clutch area until I switched to the Yamaha synthetic oil? Probably going back next oil change.
ı got fz 09 with noisy clutch. So its a problem without solution ?:)
I would check the release bearing if it's excessively noisy but unfortunately these Yamaha triples seem to have above average clutch noise factory.
Replace the clutch damper, its the last thing that he removed, that basket thingy just before the clutch bearing. It's the main cause of the noise.

Yeah it shouldn't do that, mine was super smooth taking off from a standing start.
OK thanks but do you have any options on what it could be.. Cheers
Possibly warped or unevenly worn clutch plates would be my guess.

Unfortunately I have sold my mt09 since I made this video so can't help much with that question.
What socket size for shaft nut?
I think it was maybe a 27mm from memory
Nice and simple, gj
Yeah that was the goal
Bro forgot to oil his clutch before putting it in
Bugger that's not good
put bike in gear hold rear brake nut off
Tried that twice, defo a no go. Nut was f**king tight
