Probably because having some level of negation on an endboard is important, because they've printed so many blow outs over the years that they can't just print cool decks that do other stuff without them losing to 1 Nibiru/Dark Ruler/Evenly Matched/Book of Eclipse/Change of Heart etc., unless they make them so broken that they can just play through it like Tear or Fire King
Boards with multiple ways of interaction are more fun but if your opponent can just dark hole or evenly your board away it’s not so fun. There still need to be negates sometimes.

But I feel in this more modern era that hyper consistent decks aren’t a issue if high consistency basically becomes a game mechanic and most decks have 2 card combos (also I feel drawing non-engine is still a valuable element of rng that exists today). I will say that there definitely should be more ways to implement consistency besides pure ROTA cards (which are pretty lazy imo compared to stuff like the snake eye field spell) and when your whole archetype has multiple cards that search everything else (such as SHS) I feel like it really does go overboard since you have like 20 one-card combos leading to the same line.

In regards to an individual pack though, they increased MSRP by 100%, but you're getting 80% more cards. Using this philosophical ratio (5:4) increase of MSRP to cards, you're looking at a 44% increase in MSRP of boxes. When I pre-ordered RC01, it was 90/box. That dropped to just under 80 a week or two before release. This is of course the market price, which is different from store retail or MSRP. Even at 44% increase on 80$, can you justify paying 115$ a box to get... Appolousa, Accesscode, Droll? Yikes.

I'm gonna need a set of Harpooner for Plunder Patroll, a level 4 tuner that can help go into Brann + Jord and a free discard with its eff to set off white or blue beard/sending a goldenhair from hand. This is going to be great in that.
Droll was 5 to 10 dollars a copy, Magicians' Soul is playable in some rogue decks and was very expensive despite a reprint, the alt art of cards are really neat for casual players... Even with just the first wave of reveals this set is fantastic for casual players
Arkcoela is honestly a solid 1 of in Red Dragon Archfiend, considering it gives a dark dragon synchro that you can go into under the lock with just a resonator + another Dragon adding up to 12

@@mememaster9700 uvaloop is kinda a staple already in rda, really ever since dis pater released. bane doesn't have much of a purpose in an end board unless you make a mistake on materials in the gv like hot red and can sac something. what i see most of the time when i play rda is that i usually do end up with scar red on field after a combo, so making this with loop gives a better option than leaving it alone

I’m most used to that effect on Metaphys Factor, balanced around the fact that Metaphys is complete ass, so anything competent with accessible SS4-type protection is very scary

of the top of my head, wake-up centur-ion can also be used in infernobles, buster blader, crystal beasts, elemental/vision heroes, any deck that makes savage dragon or king regulas, and vaylants
Fishborg Harpooner goes hard in Vaalmonica. With set scales, you can pitch Selettrice to summon Harpooner and then Selettrice comes back to hand to normal summon and synchro for 8 or xyz for 4, leaning towards synchro for chain blocking and monster negate with Harpooner (though you lose Selettrice with this, but XYZ stores her for a later turn to detach and retrieve).
Ok, I need to share this with whoever is willing to listen. There is a way to get this rank 10 omni on the field in every XYZ deck and not only that it cuts Ghostrick Purrely's requirement to make both Noir and UDF from 4 to 2 bodies!!!! The answer is, Mother Spider Splitter. Mother Spider Splitter special summons herself for free if you control no monster and tribute summons herself to summon 3 babies as level 5. The babies can tribute themselves to make the rest 10s and can only be used for the xyz summon of a Dark monster. They also have an extra effect of reviving a dark monster by removing a mat from a dark xyz and paying half your HP. Ok here's why these 6 cards total are insane for Ghostrick Purrely. 1) All 6 of them are not bricks if drawn. If you draw mother you get a free omni, 3 cards out of the deck and the baby in the GY. If you draw the baby you can just discard it to get it to the GY and still are able to get noir UDF out of single spell or purellyly. 2) The mother makes up for 2 of the biggest weakness of the variant. Firstly nibiru, cause the spiders make the omni as the 5th summon and secondly it can negate evenly, one of the few counters to double noir UDF. 3) Like I mentioned it cuts the Ghostrick lines requirement from 4 to 2 bodies, basically a single purrely spell or purellyly. How? You can use the babies Gy effect to detach a card from one of the angels and special dullahan a third time, which with angels attach effect it is basically a discard. 4) The babies revive any dark, meaning you can revive purellyly during your next turn search the trap, discard it and recover your Gy allowing you a better grind game. It can even revive Epurrely noir or Expurrely noir. 5) Since you only need 2 bodies you are free to use the rest of the cards to either attempt a high roll for delicious for an unaffected noir, make beauty for a negate, make small noir when she arrives and make an affected noir. All this really easily because you didn't have to use the second effect of purellyly and are sitting on an omni, a negate and an unnaffected noir. 6) It costs practically nothing to add this engine, people playing this variant are already on triple where arf thou, one for one and dotscapers. This is more efficient since it is practically 2 bodies with a chance of giving even more value instead of just one body worth. If only this was in Master Duel now cause the rank 10 pool is ass currently yet it might still be worth it. That's about it, I'm going insane thinking about it, you can even make it slightly more consistent by throwing a foolish in since even the baby is worth it.

I am sick of decks over the past however many years it's been since mid-Pendulums where it's just been a game of watching your opponent fap out as many negates as they can. Stop it. It's off-putting to new players.
I've been cooking with Vaalmonica ABC and Selettrice is an actual normal summin and you are pretty much guaranteed to find scales and hey look a deck full of lv4s thay can't summon themselves. Unfortunately you don't really use anything involving resonance counters but I think there isn't enough experimentation with Vaalmonica as an engine for lv4 scales with relatively no locks.
Ill be honest, iunno if that Unchained Memento was the best showcase for what the new cards do for the archetype. One critical thing ive noticed is that it plays much better against a variety of hand traps. Between the new fusion spell and Bone Party, Memento is now running 6 cards that allow it to completely dodge Imperm and Veiler. Ash is now much less of an issue. Droll can be a turn ender, but it is possible to play around it to some extent if you know they have it. Unless im missing something else, Shifter is the only one that is 100% fatal to your setup. Nib also can suck, but its not as bad. It can now pretty reliably set up it's usual board + SP even with some resistance, and it's not uncommon to end on more if you open any extenders. That said, while these cards do patch up several of it's weaknesses, it still has no inherent protection against certain boardbreakers like Evenly and Lightning Storm. It can set up SP if it wants, but she only really does so much. It's also still very centralized on it's boss monster, so literally just Book of Moon shuts off most of your interaction. Literally just the Ariseheart problem Despite these weaknesses though, these cards do finally and genuinely make the deck competent, but i would put "competent" at like Tier 3 at best
It's not a _great_ card for EARTH Machine. Playable to some extent, but you'd rather do a standard combo than end on this, I think, and it's not usual to have access to 2 Level 10s prior to resolving Brutal Dozer (which locks you into EARTH Machine). But since it's a good card and there will be times when you can access it, I do think it will at least be run.
As a Ghoti player, I am very excited for Harpooner. It pairs well with both Keaf and White Sardine, can SS Psiics from out of your hand, and can help out with it's second effect when going second (something that Ghoti desperately needed). It is also an Abyss Shark target. Really solid Fish/Water support, and I hope Konami keeps it going.
The funny thing about the vaalmonica spell that locks you from non-vaalmonicas is that it lets you imano awatto lock people. Is that any good? Probably not. Incredibly funny and sacky? Definitely.
I sure love generic extra deck monsters with negate. Allow me to know that whatever the deck I'm fight it will be the same endboard. They could have at least made it earth and/or lock it in some way but ig they wanted raidraptor and yubel to be able to access it...
What sucks about Vaalmonica is that it is the most creative of the three, but unfortunately in Yugioh, creativity is usually synonymous with bad (just look at TCG exclusive archetypes).

It’s pretty clear he wants the game to be affordable, while also having cards that have insane resell value which is possible if you look at games that print important and GOOD cards in multiple rarities like Pokémon, there are chase cards in the set, but the game is still incredibly affordable at the low end without ruining the barrier for entry, which, with the context of literally everything else mbt says, is obviously what he’s talking about. A healthy trading/selling market is important for a game obviously and if a set comes with almost no reprints worth a damn, which this set seems to be, then the value of the set at 10 dollars a pack isn’t going to hold

Clockwerk night, Revolution Synchron and Zeus would be good options for them to include. Tho I have little hope for Zeus because of the new "Get Zeus for 20 Bucks and 99 cards of packfiller garbage" Beginner set.
So the Centurion cards are good, but there's a kinda hidden use of Wake Up. TECHNICALLY if you can get a primera in rotation this kind of solves the problem of them being choked out of tuners by being able to mill Phalanx. Being able to revive either primera to extend if your synchro got imperm'd as well as summon legatia and not be able to die by battle because of the attack loss is kinda decent. I like it.
I'm not really sure what to make of Rarity Collection 2 without more info. The handtraps reprints are fine. I'm assuming they are looking to reprint all of the major handtraps in all of the rarities so you can have them in your rarity of choice, which I'm all for. The thing that just concerns me is Souls being said as a headliner alongside Accesscode. I just hope this is just the case of they don't want to tank the price of something like S:P or Thrust three months before the set releases because otherwise I'm slightly concerned about the quality of the remaining set.
Look, I'm happy for RC2. I want some of these cards but i cant validate spending 60-70 usd for a playset of souls just so i can have a fun DM deck to play with my friends at home. If this bring more cards into affordable range I'm down. Hell, I'd love if they did a reprint set of this kind of caliber over the tins every year honestly.
Konami could fix the rarity price problem if they print common versions of every card so it's accessible but left high rarity to be money cards. I think every card should be easy to obtain for somewhere from 1-10 dollars and left the collectors purchase the high value cards.

So now you have 12 cards that can set up a 3-5 scale to pend lvl 4s. Optimally you normal the new 4 add the new spell to then add one and put the other in ED. Then discard a card with that added card to set the scales, then pend the 4 from ED to make a R4 off 1 card and a discard, plus summoning other lvl4s in hand. Still, definitely not good enough to be viable.
dragunity can now end realistically on one of these and a baronne as well as some of their own stuff potentially... you'd have to open the absolute tits to get much more than the two negates... you'd also have literally no hand for turn 3

So its bad on release and no one picks it up. BUT, if we just… always know it’ll get some cracked second wave, then why NOT try it if you enjoy it? Should this all be in the first wave? Yeah, but if your argument for not buying it is because its bad, despite this almost always happening, then whats the point?

I've been cooking with Vaalmonica ABC and Selettrice is an actual normal summin and you are pretty much guaranteed to find scales and hey look a deck full of lv4s thay can't summon themselves.
Unfortunately you don't really use anything involving resonance counters but I think there isn't enough experimentation with Vaalmonica as an engine for lv4 scales with relatively no locks.
It NEEDED to be this good to have a chance these days.
Its also non targeting destruction all 3 effects just as icing on the cake wtf
Ill be honest, iunno if that Unchained Memento was the best showcase for what the new cards do for the archetype.
One critical thing ive noticed is that it plays much better against a variety of hand traps. Between the new fusion spell and Bone Party, Memento is now running 6 cards that allow it to completely dodge Imperm and Veiler. Ash is now much less of an issue. Droll can be a turn ender, but it is possible to play around it to some extent if you know they have it. Unless im missing something else, Shifter is the only one that is 100% fatal to your setup. Nib also can suck, but its not as bad.
It can now pretty reliably set up it's usual board + SP even with some resistance, and it's not uncommon to end on more if you open any extenders.
That said, while these cards do patch up several of it's weaknesses, it still has no inherent protection against certain boardbreakers like Evenly and Lightning Storm. It can set up SP if it wants, but she only really does so much. It's also still very centralized on it's boss monster, so literally just Book of Moon shuts off most of your interaction. Literally just the Ariseheart problem
Despite these weaknesses though, these cards do finally and genuinely make the deck competent, but i would put "competent" at like Tier 3 at best

It's not a _great_ card for EARTH Machine. Playable to some extent, but you'd rather do a standard combo than end on this, I think, and it's not usual to have access to 2 Level 10s prior to resolving Brutal Dozer (which locks you into EARTH Machine). But since it's a good card and there will be times when you can access it, I do think it will at least be run.
For that Centur-ion spell card, they missed a great opportunity to call it, "Power Extreme!" ...If you know, you know.
Harpooner replaces Tinola in anything other than Icejade, doesn't it.
Galaxy Queen's Light gonna be interesting with Baronne
As a Ghoti player, I am very excited for Harpooner. It pairs well with both Keaf and White Sardine, can SS Psiics from out of your hand, and can help out with it's second effect when going second (something that Ghoti desperately needed). It is also an Abyss Shark target.
Really solid Fish/Water support, and I hope Konami keeps it going.

The funny thing about the vaalmonica spell that locks you from non-vaalmonicas is that it lets you imano awatto lock people. Is that any good? Probably not. Incredibly funny and sacky? Definitely.
The new Vaalmonica cards have me hyped, maybe they will be more than just new Live Twins.

What sucks about Vaalmonica is that it is the most creative of the three, but unfortunately in Yugioh, creativity is usually synonymous with bad (just look at TCG exclusive archetypes).

It’s pretty clear he wants the game to be affordable, while also having cards that have insane resell value which is possible if you look at games that print important and GOOD cards in multiple rarities like Pokémon, there are chase cards in the set, but the game is still incredibly affordable at the low end without ruining the barrier for entry, which, with the context of literally everything else mbt says, is obviously what he’s talking about. A healthy trading/selling market is important for a game obviously and if a set comes with almost no reprints worth a damn, which this set seems to be, then the value of the set at 10 dollars a pack isn’t going to hold
Finally someone said it. Baronne and Apo and Savage are so shit for the game and makes every cool deck end up looking the same at the end of their combo. It's just sad to see.

So the Centurion cards are good, but there's a kinda hidden use of Wake Up. TECHNICALLY if you can get a primera in rotation this kind of solves the problem of them being choked out of tuners by being able to mill Phalanx. Being able to revive either primera to extend if your synchro got imperm'd as well as summon legatia and not be able to die by battle because of the attack loss is kinda decent. I like it.
I'm not really sure what to make of Rarity Collection 2 without more info. The handtraps reprints are fine. I'm assuming they are looking to reprint all of the major handtraps in all of the rarities so you can have them in your rarity of choice, which I'm all for. The thing that just concerns me is Souls being said as a headliner alongside Accesscode. I just hope this is just the case of they don't want to tank the price of something like S:P or Thrust three months before the set releases because otherwise I'm slightly concerned about the quality of the remaining set.

People are misunderstanding memento. It does much more than just appo. But I'm not sure if you can reliably set up everything consistently.
Look, I'm happy for RC2. I want some of these cards but i cant validate spending 60-70 usd for a playset of souls just so i can have a fun DM deck to play with my friends at home. If this bring more cards into affordable range I'm down. Hell, I'd love if they did a reprint set of this kind of caliber over the tins every year honestly.
Konami could fix the rarity price problem if they print common versions of every card so it's accessible but left high rarity to be money cards.
I think every card should be easy to obtain for somewhere from 1-10 dollars and left the collectors purchase the high value cards.

So now you have 12 cards that can set up a 3-5 scale to pend lvl 4s. Optimally you normal the new 4 add the new spell to then add one and put the other in ED. Then discard a card with that added card to set the scales, then pend the 4 from ED to make a R4 off 1 card and a discard, plus summoning other lvl4s in hand. Still, definitely not good enough to be viable.
dragunity can now end realistically on one of these and a baronne as well as some of their own stuff potentially... you'd have to open the absolute tits to get much more than the two negates... you'd also have literally no hand for turn 3

Yugioh players acting with amnesia. Every deck build pack is literally always like this where the first wave isn’t good but gets the idea across, then the follow up support makes it cracked. So its bad on release and no one picks it up. BUT, if we just… always know it’ll get some cracked second wave, then why NOT try it if you enjoy it? Should this all be in the first wave? Yeah, but if your argument for not buying it is because its bad, despite this almost always happening, then whats the point?
