- I went to Monterey, CA to test ride and review the new 2023 Harley-Davidson Street Glide and Road Glide CVOs. There is way more than meets the eye and these motorcycles are completely redesigned, both aesthetically and in performance. @harleydavidson
These 2023 Harley CVOs have a brand new Milwaukee-Eight 121 ci VVT engine, redesigned fairings, controls, handlebars, intake tract, air intake, water-cooled heads, radiator, electric fan, 12.3" infotainment system, new front and rear Showa suspension with preload and rebound damping adjustments,, new radial mounted Brembo brakes, larger brake rotors, new wheels, LED lighting, and new storage, just to name a few things.

I'm riding a 22 CVO Street Glide, I have to say the new look of 23 CVO Road Glide really got me, but I prefer the old look of my old 22 CVO Street Glide than new 23 CVO Street Glide
I don’t have $35,000 for a Street Glide nor do I have money for a $50,000 plus CVO. I will have to continue to move down the road on my old used 2002 Fatboy I paid $4,500 cash for. I put another $6,000 in upgrades into it, all cash. That’s still only a bit less than one third the price of a new Street Glide. So, I come here to watch your videos and dream. At least dreaming doesn’t cost $50,000. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
👍 Thanks so much
I could buy one with cash (assuming I never want to retire). I won’t. My 2003 Softail will have to serve on road and city.
You know the old saying never buy a first-year new production
Can be true. I will say that I bought my 2014 Rushmore SGS brand new late 2013 and still love it and have it!! All good.
Well the Harry Davidson clothing company propaganda machine as we all know seem to have a habit of recalling new releases.
I agree, bought a 2021 Pan America, total pile of garbage, dealer took it back, got a 22 PA, another pike of garbage, just sold it at a loss and happy to be rid of it, HD does have a habit of using its customers to fund the R&D on the new bikes, never a new first year HD for me, possibly never another HD for me again after what they put me through with the PA.
I hear you!
I use to say that, but with the warranty support backing up any purchase that is no longer a factor anymore.
When I first saw the full screen deal with the gauges etc I was instantly like YES! But now that I think about it, there is nothing like a good set of real gauges on a vehicle.... Don't get me wrong I like the option to change your layout etc.... But I don't know if it will give the same feeling as real gauges
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you Ryan for a great review and first look at these beautiful bikes, much appreciated 👍🔥
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!!
So you’ve got a larger engine making more power, a radiator, fan, reservoir, basically everything is bigger and better and it weighs 35 lbs less? 👏👏👏 congratulations Harley Davidson engineers! I’m officially impressed. These new CVOs do more than any Harley touring bike to ever come along, and they do it better, faster, stronger, and more efficiently while weighing less. I like!!!
I hope you like the price to.
What did you expect? As the saying goes, “If you have to ask how much? It’s not for you.”
It is a Harley Davidson after all.
@@robbyclark6915 I'd like to know what percentage of the parts are made off shore. I'm guessing it would be substantial. And where to the Harry Davidson clothing company propaganda machine manufacture their bikes for the foreign market especially Europe? It used to be India but the labour costs were to high.Imagine that labour costs to high in India??????.It could possibly be Vietnam? The clothing company are greedy and cynical penny pinchers. Who take their customers for granted. Merry Christmas 🤶
@@stuwhyte479 Enjoy whatever you ride and I’ll enjoy my Harleys.
Let the good times roll………….😎
I've never been a fan of the Road Glides but the new shark nose fairing is looking good. Way to go Harley.
You always do the most thorough reviews. Thank you.
Thanks soooooo much. Means a ton to me. I put so much work and research into these videos. Just trying to help bikers.......AGain, thanks.
Thank you for great information and good entertainment. I’m a Harley rider that still has a low rider but my main ride is a newer dct Goldwing. It’s a great bike with reverse to get me out of difficult situations and electric windscreen which is great to lower in town. The one problem I have is I’m just not feeling the coolness I feel when riding a Harley. It was a bit wishful thinking but I was hoping it would have reverse. It might be a decade before that happens.
I’m sure the 24 models will have the new improvements and I will probably go back to Harley again because having the cool factor is why we ride in the end.
Great job Ryan....looking forward to future videos!
Thanks!
Just bought this bike. The electronics are very cool but also a little scary. I love the bike and look forward to many, many miles ahead. Great channel, brother.
I like the changes Harley Davidson has made to the new CVO lineup. Your right that HD can’t be caught standing still. They need to push forward to survive in this competitive market. I for one can’t wait till this type of technology bleeds over to other bikes in the HD lineup. These new CVOs prove HD is committed to moving forward with new innovations and designs to keep them relevant in the future. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Woohoo, first to comment! Keep up the great stuff, I actually really like the looks of the new CVO's. Too bad I will never be able to afford one!
Thanks for watching!!
Monterey didnt look like that in 74 when I went to Basic training at Fort Ord.
Lol. Likely a lot of changes. Thx for serving!!!!!
Love the Rushmores. I had that same color shown at 1:33, but it was destroyed in an accident in 2016. Turn the clock ahead several years, and I found a great deal on the same bike in a different color and it's what I'm riding now. New HD prices have always been suspect and even more so as the years have gone by. It's very hard to justify paying car prices for a bike...even the nice, big touring bikes. Plus the Milwaukee 8s seem to come with their own set of problems and drawbacks. I don't know how long this 2014, 50k mile bike will last me, but I'm going to take care of it and run it until it dies and only then will I see what HD is offering at that time. Maybe a used M-8...lol!
Thanks for the comments.
One can get a new Street Glide/Road Glide standard, then add a 128 Big Bore Stage 4 kit, tuner, custom exhaust, aftermarket suspension then whatever bells and whistles you want for a lot less. Something to think about if the 50K price tag for these new CVOs is too much to swallow.
Just wanted to say a big HELLO for the North East of England(UK) been watching the channel for a while, Not a Harley rider Im afraid, I ride a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic, I love the content and the brotherhood you guys share, Keep them coming :)
Thanks for that! Shout out UK!!
I also have a 2014 CVO limited. 110 motor is good plus my bike has a lot more stuff on it. I’m the type of person that my bike needs it hits. And I don’t play around the price they want for the new ones and what you get, I don’t think so. My Rushmore had a lot of growing pains, but it is a well sorted bike now. It has some miles on it, but it still runs really good, I believe next year we’re gonna do the motor go through it maybe bump it a little bit. But I’m keeping it I upgraded the way to go to the Soundstreem really nice. So much cheaper than $50,000 for a motorcycle. I’m not sure what it’s a Harley it’s going to be leaving a lot of sorting.
I was at the Pilgrim Powertrain plant in Milwaukee today and saw some amazing motor officers working their magic with the orange cones. I wish you were there. I hope they let you have one of these bikes for a month or so. I love the idea of a new infotainment system, 121 vvt motor, etc. I appreciate and rely on your reviews. I ride a 2015 Ultra Limited and I'm hoping these changes are worth an upgrade next year. Thank you for another great video Ryan!!
Thx much. Humbled by your comments. I work hard for balanced thorough reviews. I appreciate it.
@@RyanUrlacher I just test drove the CVO street glide back at the Powertrain plant....got there early. I love it. It's fast, smooth, light and I felt like I was falling off the back of the seat when I turned it up. I want to make a move next year, wish I knew what parts of the new CVO will trickle down to the other lines...like the ST's. Did you also do a review of the Fast Johnny you drove with the 135? I wish Harley would have flown you out here. You belong in Milwaukee this week. Sad that I can't meet you.
Hi Ryan. Thanks for the video. I have one on order (RG)
Question - how is the camera attached to your left hand/glove?
Ryan two big things I noticed they missed on the CVO Street Glide Infotainment System. Drives me crazy. 1. You can no longer zoom in or out on the navigation screen. So if you want a broader view of where you are going that’s no longer an option. They had that on both prior systems. 2. When using Ride Planner, you cannon skip the next waypoint anymore. Two things they need to address in a software update!
Love the HD Brand..Props to the Motor Co for the massive changes to the SG and RG have to admit the looks of the new RG has started to really grow on me still love my 18 FLHTK first purchase after I win the mega million or power ball will be a new generation CVO RG .. great video!
👍
Well done, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice review Ryan!
I really like this bike! For once HD has done a real redesign and hit it out of the park! I own an Indian Challenger and a BMW K1600b and might have to add a 2024 RG to my garage.
Nice!! Thx for the comments.
I wanna see the new Street Glide review video.
Same exact bikes except for the fairings.
Nice first ride impression. This will be considered an unpopular opinion. But I don't agree with them putting ride modes on this model bike.
I believe ride modes should be geared towards newer riders as it's just a means to retard the bike's power.
Anyone spending what Harley is asking for this bike isn't a new rider.
Looks like I might have to put that Roadglide on the 'wishlist'
Hey Ryan, like ALL your videos this one is terrific. Personally I really love the new look of the CVOs especially the new infotainment all digital dashboards on both the Street and Road glides. There is so much to love including the much needed improvement to the stock handlebars. HUGE! I have two specific nits to pick with Harley. One: why oh why the wire wheels? Hate 'em. Two: that intake is butt ugly and why have the air filter element poking out like some ill-fitting afterthought? Keep up your excellent work as we all appreciate all you do.
Thanks so much! thanks for commenting.
I like most of the changes, I hope they trickle down sooner than later to the non-cvo models.
Me too!!
They probably will, but if you wait, you'll be several years older. H-D want their customers to buy NOW, and not wait. Clever marketing.
Here is what is so great about competition. Lot's of the stuff introduced here is on Indian's big bikes. The ride modes, the ignition, the cooling system (similar to the Challenger & Pursuit), the passing high beam blip.
And as I watch, the break lever adjust, of course cable clutch.....going away from the hydraulic.
And.... inverted forks, adjustable preload read=r suspension. All on the Indian bikes.....so cool for competition.
I love the competition its almost like watching the Superbowl. For the past couple of years all MC companies have been doing something innovative.
Yah!! Love it. Consumer wins with better bikes!
I wonder what the four founders would say if they could comment on where their bikes, and company have evolved.
While I like the new technology and design my relatively simple (and paid for!) ten plus year old HDs appeal to me for the pure joy of riding.
Still I hope to see a beefed up Pan America engine in a road glide before my riding days are done. This one is a nice step towards that.
I just saw you on Blockheads channel. I think the rest of the Harley world is now jealous. I would love to test ride one of those.
Thanks for watching!! Ride safe.
Protection of windshield? New rear suspensions? It will be necessay dò anche upgrade like in the previous Model? Thanks in advance
Ryan, you said water around the valves. Are these new bikes no longer oil cooled?
Great well explained video Ryan. Thank you…
PS. One question I have or would look to see is, ‘live traffic via satellite on the navigation system’ so would not have to depend on the ‘Waze’ app to see accidents or construction up ahead. Just a thought cuz the technology exists.
Yah, that'd be great.
I'm surprised that the fuel cap isn't lockable. Maybe that will be included in the 2026 model. Whilst Ryan's 2014 CVO is still a nice bike, the new 2023 model is much more advanced. Great camera work Ryan, thanks for sharing! :)
Thanks for watching!!
A lot of improvements from the Pan America seems to me? I own a Pan America and see lots of the Pan in this bike. Love It great review!
Yup, I agree. We knew some would slide over from the Pan to touring. rock on!!
Cool!! the new Indian Davidson Road Chief!!
I’ve test rode both. From my experience, very different riding both. Each unique.
Glad they put heel shifters on them
Not sure how anyone couldn't like the way it looks. I personally love the changes and wish all 2023 touring models got at least some of these. I got my 23 Road Glide in April and really am gonna be annoyed if the 24 models get them
Is that Simpson helmet modular and if so how does it compare with the your Neotec 2 as far as wind noise at highway speeds ? Thx
All good improvements apart from that new RG cyclops headlight , HD should of stuck to the dual headlight looks imo
I wonder if Harley well come out with a BLACK CHROME COLLECTION????? Shape looking is the black chrome exhaust. Cin-Cin and Salute 🫡👍👌❤️🙏
Knew you would have a great take. Not sure I’ll be marked safe from the 2024 model year. Bad Ass!
Thx so much!!
I became a follower today
Thanks so much!! Welcome to the community here!!
Would've liked to seen a monshock on the rear. Although I haven't been on the new HD CVO, it's hard for me to see how the stock rear suspension has any noticeable improvement compared to the Rushmore bikes. Hopefully, I'm wrong.
The new CVO Showa suspension blows the Rushmore out of the water.
Hi Ryan. Thanks for that great ride/review. After that ride, would you say you would keep it stock? No changes to handlebars or engine or anything?
I’d definitely keep it stock. I would change the headers to get rid of the cats. And louder mufflers.
@@RyanUrlacher nice. Thanks for replying and for your time. I appreciate that.
GREETINGS FROM INDIA.
These new CVOs look so cool and awesome. My personal favourite is Road Glide [ always been a RG fan]. I really hope Harley brings these models to India, though the chances are very very very less.
Shout out India!! thanks for watching.
Looks decent, not a huge fan of the fairing though. For a starting price of 45k+ and a 121ci motor its a let down in terms of performance for sure. Indian is doing a lot more for less with the Challenger. At this point I think HD likes being known for overpriced and underpowered bikes.
Quality is night and day different. Indian is plastic looking with cheap paint and the bubbly lines just look ugly.
If your all about the H.P. I might agree but there is so much more to a motorcycle. This Harley has really stepped up and I personally like the looks and sound of a Harley to an Indian. What both companies have done is exactly what we needed as riders and now demands a test ride of both before a purchase decision can be made.
@rodzimmerman1979 challenger sounds pretty wicked with a 2-1. I do like HDs controls better and fit and finish is always better on HD. Tech wise though you get more for your money on Indians. Hell, a stage 2 fully upgraded setup Challenger was only 45k out the door. That upgraded stereo, bars, heated cooled seat, auto adjustable suspension and stage 2 cams. So more tech and way more HP for less money. For me, if they had put the Revo Max motor in this it would have made it a much better value. Sure the ci is smaller but it's a far better and more powerful motor.
@@DanielA23 Both of you make good points. Competition is a good thing but selling price is a deal breaker. These are just big boy toys at the end of the day.
Nice bike.
I'd like to know about your helmet/mic setup. Do you have a video with that?
Here ya go ==> www.lawabidingbiker.com/motovlog-setup/
Isn’t it nice that they designed this bike out of the “aftermarket”! Only place to get parts is, well, you know where!
I own a 2020 Tri Glide and I would like to see a RG3 CVO
Feels like a Challenger type look and the features are very similar.
Great video!!! Always informative!!! As far as the who copied who thing…. Why does anyone care. Seems to be more important if you are a fan boy of one of the companies. I like both companies. I’m buying whichever bike I like the best at the time. I cover way too many miles to be brand loyal for the sake of the brand.
Agree. I love ALL motorcycles and we support such on this channel. Ride safe.
It looks really good i had 4 m8 harleys but they always have to screw up something. Still got shit suspension on the back. Just bought a new bmw r18b and its by far superior over a harley
Do they still come with central locking please?
What color of Klim gear did you buy?
I'm really glad that Harley has finally woken up to some modern technology in the suspension. To me, it's frankly unacceptable that a $30K motorcycle doesn't have adjustable suspension. Compression, rebound and preload adjustment should be standard on anything over $15K. Thanks for the review!
U betcha!! thanks for commenting!
I demoed their Road Glide CVO at their 120th event. Tried pairing my phone which paired but CarPlay still did not work without a headset connected.
Yah, it will be the same setup as the older Boom Box. Wired USB connection from iPhone, Harley branded wireless headset and then Car Play will come up.
With 47mm vice 49mm is it still an FL, or is it an FX?
I know you are looking to do an in-depth review later. But, what did you think of the front and rear suspensions? I know you run aftermarket stuff, is it comparable? Any wobbling in high speed turns?
No wobble at all on cornering at higher speeds. Suspension was amazing for stock. I just need more time with it and to have the time to take it to some tore up roads with potholes and stuff to get a good feel if its close to aftermarket stuff. Sorry, hoping to get this bike for a week or two for a more thorough review. Working on that now. Fingers crossed.
Ryan it was great meeting you in Milwaukee #bugslide
Great meeting you!!!!!!
Ryan , good Bike Interview on The New H.D.
I am looking Foward to See and Hear - More input on these New Bike's!
Yea , the 1st Year for me is a No Go .
But once you get into the New Info System I am Looking Foward to Hearing about it.
One thing to Think about ( ? )
Will the New Info System work off The Sena Helmet Systems or do You Have to Buy Harley Helmet for it to Work ?
I know that Harley has Had alot of Problems with the M - 8 Engine's
But Bug's will be Bug's I just Hope they Listen to Aftermarket People to Get it On track !!!
Loud Pipes Save Lives , so I will Be Lookin Foward to you Reviewing it In-Depth Soon I Hope , it's in Harley's Best interest to Let People Like you Bring the Good & Bad !
Hopefully We will see you Review it Soon !!!
One thing I would like to see you do is a Harley 3 Wheel Review and Your input to What is and What is Not on them .
I don't think I have seen that one - Could Be Wrong Though , and Doing a Test Ride Input's about Them !!!
Rock on!! Thanks for the comments and feedback.
Ryan, saw in Blockhead's vlog that were riding the Faster Johnny. Curious what you thought of the 135?
HOLY S#@t!!! That 135 Stage IV is freakin insane. Seriously. I want that soooooo bad. Unbelievable tourque/power. Sound so freakin good. I was literally giggling pulling the front wheel off the ground in 3rd gear with throttle blips. WOW!!!! Hoping to put out a video on that soon.
@@RyanUrlacher Can't wait to see the video on it. It looked bad ass!
Does it still have to be a H-D Branded headset to Pair? Can you pair any other SENAs, or Schuberth?
Not 100% sure yet. Preproduction model here. BUT, I can almost guarantee you'll need a Harley branded Sena for FULL functionality and stereo sound. Don't think they'd go away from that. Just my gut. Also, with the old Boom Box and WHIM you could pair a non Harley branded Sena headset, however you would not get full functionality and mono sound instead of stereo.
I hope your gut is wrong :). What a dumb move if that is the case.
I am now a hot mess of mixed emotions. The Street Glide looks MUCH MUCH MUCH better.
How's the kean angle? It looked like maybe there's a little more than the previous gen? Not sure, just eyeballing it.
I think its the same lean angle. Nothing noticeable.
Love the new CVO’s, however I would have liked to see a monoshok system , I heard they are working on it. One thing you didn’t touch on is the price? Selling prices are north of 50K !😮
starting $42,999 I belive
Which is easier as a commuter in city traffic for narrow passes and turns. Street glide or road glide ?
Ridden both and trained on both. No different to me.
Awesome. A new Harley for only 42k plus plus plus$$$$
It appears the new CVO’s are a direct response to Indians Challenger series in styling and performance. Just like the Indian, this CVO has the same square sharp contours on tank and fairing, streamlining the lighting and eliminating the analog gauges. The Indian costs a whole lot less than the CVO.
You're right Ryan, Harley was first witg the fairings, but design wise on these new ones, they are very Indian-esk.....especially the RG "cockpit".
I love my Harleys, but Indian has become a formidable adversary, and these bikes prove that with all of the upgrades given, ie: ride modes, digital gauges, layouts, etc. But these options come standard on the Indian models. No special release neccessary at special model pricing, which you said nothing about. I'm sure the new CVO is close to the 40k penny too.
Good vid tho. In depth as can be without having one for a week or so.
Stat safe.
Thanks for commenting. I always say, competition is great for the marketplace. Everyone is pushing to make better bikes. It's great!!
$42,999 for the roadglide in the platinum color, add $6000 if you want the whiskey color. That's MSRP not including the dealer markup or any add ons.
What is that camera mount on the handlebars?
@ryanurlacer
Like the Whiskey paint...$6,000...😯
I have to say…..HD definitely felt pressured to bring a bike that can compete with the Challenger…..spec by spec….the challenger was 10 years ahead of the current road glide…with the new CVO’s….that gap is closer…but I personally would edge the challenger ahead of HD….my opinion
My biggest concern is ,, does it ride any better or do we have to spend thousands of dollars to upgrade it. I now know it doesn't have a rear mono shock. That scares me.
It rides like a dream. That 121 VVT is the snizzle……..
Is it completely water cooled or just water cooled like the Ultras
water cooled heads. Oil cooled too.
Good overview, question is, is Harley listing to its core riders and making these new changes or are they doing it for the Jason Momoa riders?
I have had the Harley fixed fairing and now have the Indian fixed fairing but you just misinformed slightly. Vetter was the first fixed fairing.
Yeah, yeah, the CVO is nice. But what about the Faster (135) Johnnie! :)
OOoooooooh yah, I didn't want to get off Faster Johnny!! OMG. Video coming down the road.
I’m frightened-why? I’ll sit on that new CVO Street Glide, and have to have one!
LOL. Likely
That's why I avoid going into H-D dealerships. Even watching videos like this is very tempting :)
How could you not even mention price? It's great to hear about new features but is the bang worth the bucks? Harleys have always been gorgeous bikes with a unique feel to them. Sadly, what they consider to be major innovations have been available on other makes for well over a decade, e.g. rider modes, brembo brakes, etc.
As far as brakes go...HD has been using Brembro on all its touring models since 2008...on thing that's Harley is the badge..go fact check it...school me if iam incorrect
"Real high RPMs, 4000-5000" 😆😂😂
Wonder is stereo Bluetooth still requires a Harley branded headset???
Not 100% sure yet. Preproduction model here. BUT, I can almost guarantee you'll need a Harley branded Sena for FULL functionality and stereo sound. Don't think they'd go away from that. Just my gut.
Ya that’s so incredibly stupid. I don’t even use the Harley stereo on my ultra. Just better to unpair my phone and run it through my Cardo.
I think Harley missed the mark when they didn't go all out and put a mono shock. That would have been great.
Would have required a different frame. As King of the Baggers has shown, twin shocks are very capable on pavement.
From the rider perspective the RG fairing looks better, but that thing is very ugly when looking at it drive by. It doesn’t matter what improvements they’ve done if the bike is ugly. The batwing looks ok though.
CVO's have always had the WHIM "built in"
Unfortunately they haven't. We've installed WHIM's on several Road Glides over the years. Only CVO models had WHIMS.
Is there Apple car play?
They have built a nice Indian motorcycle
I've actually ridden the Indians. I can tell you that they are completely different. Both good, but definitely different feel for sure.
If they would smoke/mirror/blackout the headlamp on the Road Glide, it would go a long way on making it look better to me. With that huge clear headlamp, looks are not doing it for me.
They can’t do that do to federal regulation. Production bikes and autos have many rules to follow unfortunately.
Water cooled?
Yup, all mentioned specs in the video.
I just don't care for the light bar across the front. I see a transformer, and no longer the dual headlight look. Just not the face I expect to see on a Road Glide. Seems it's also much more complicated. More to go wrong. I guess I'm more dissappointed than impressed.
Why not just release a liquid cooled 131 or 135 from the factory...
Disappointed no electric windshield at this price range.
And no active suspension like what's on the Pan America S ... maybe they're saving that for 2027.
You better get an extended warranty if you’re going to buy one of those. I’m sure there’s going to be growing pains. I don’t think there’s a Milwaukee eight is done with us growing pains. I’ll stick to my twin cam.
Might as well put Indian emblems on the tank I sold my 2019 CVO S/G with a 131 that was a better bike , and didn’t have to worry about a board going out thus loosing the 12.3 display , it’s a no go for me thanks Ryan
Reference the fairings and who is copying who: it's physics. You can only make a motorized 2-wheeler so many ways before it doesn't function. Same with fairings. Well over 100 years of motors on 2 wheels. We've been there, done that.
