Some things that have helped to control my hair fall include: (1) I stopped wearing hair ties because it causes tension breakage. (2) I started massaging my scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while leaning forward & holding my head upside down to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Protecting my head while moving out to shield my hair from pollution. (4) Using mild shampoo again from liittleextra only to cleanse my hair.
I’m in the beginning stage of this….it takes such a toll on your emotional wellbeing. Especially since my hair used to be so thick when I was younger 🥺
I thought I was balding at first which to me is worst (sounds weird, I know) but looks like I have small sprouts growing back. Now I’m just riding it out. My beard is now doing the same so who knows
Who ever going through this condition my best advice is go to a dermatologist and start the treatment early please don’t delay.. my son has this condition I didn’t know anything about alopicia until my son had my Gp didn’t do much now he lost all his body hair 😢 but many doctors said sooner you treated you could have recover .. their is good medication .so start soon when you have a small patch
10 years i'm dealing with this problem... i have 3 kind of alopecia on my head and body... i lost my confidance , self love and all with it... can't describe how hard it is🥺i was to 100 doctors and no result...
I suffered with this, I had around 5 patches. 3 on the sides, 1 on the back and 1 on top. It lasted for around 5 months and it was frustrating. And I didn’t do anything and did not treat it. It just fixed itself. The hair on the top and back came back and only the 1 of the ones on the side came back thick and normal. 2 of the ones on the side came back full and covered the spots but are not as thick as it was before. Anyways allhamdulilah it’s all gone now
Hi, Can we connect? I just had my first patch and it’s very distressing. Should be grateful if you could go through your journey to help me deal with this better.
There are articles I'd like you to read. Here is one of them. "Can a tooth infection cause alopecia? Some research has shown that there may be a connection between teeth infection and Alopecia Areata, caused by a weakening of the immune system due to tooth infection. In those studies, Alopecia areata was detected close to the area of tooth infection." Dec 4, 2020

Yes, I had AA and had a tooth infection. The first bald spot was close to the tooth, within an inch or so, on my neck/beard. No proof it had anything to do with the tooth infection. Every doctor or dentist I’ve been to about this dismisses that it would have anything to do with it. But I read that article and thought it was possible for sure
Anything that will allow your immune system to become irritated can cause AA. It has to be a shock to your system, not just day to day stress we all get lol. Infection and illness such as covid is massive for immune diseases
About a two months ago i had noticed a weird sensation on my head. It almost felt as if i had my hair in a bun for a long time, like some sort of surface headache. As i ran my hands through my hair i had noticed a patch about the size of a quarter missing. I was so shocked and confused. I got my phone out and took a video of the spot and it looked exactly like the photos showen with the exclamation hair spilts. I silently freaked out because at that time my father had just been diagnosed with cancer and I didn’t want to bring another “illness” to the surface, and i still haven’t said a word. I’ve waited since February 6th (It’s currently March 21st) for the hair to grow because im too scared to tell my family about it. I don’t know if i have Alopecia but I’ve been doing research about it. I have no prior family history with an autoimmune disease of any sort, as for my dad he has stage 4 stomach cancer. They did a test on him to see if my siblings and i are affected by cancer in any way and it’s negative (supposedly). I guess i just don’t want to be a problem to my parents. You’re probably asking yourself “Why doesn’t she just go to the doctors or something?!”, but I can’t i don’t know any of my info of insurance or anything. I literally just graduated high school and i have no idea what to do. I guess i just wanted to tell somebody, well if anyone sees this 🤷♀️ i had to get it out of my system somehow.
If you can please see a doctor. This can be caused by an inflammation in the body that shows no other symptoms. It might be good to check your teeth, sinuses, digestive tract etc. It could also be caused by heavy stress. You should not be alone in this, stay strong and reach out if you need support. I hope your father, you and your family get better ❤.
Literally same boat. Exact same scenario. I noticed this happened recently that I've been getting infuriated at work and been stressed overall with life. By the grace of God I have a roof over my head and we doing alright but maaan Life is crazy.
I had the same a month after high school. I started to feel itchy/burning on my scalp. Then bald spots started to appear. A year later, they all grew back. Its been 6 years now and my bald spots come and go every once in a while. So far, they always grow back.
Amazing video I am going to the Doctor in a few days. And the 3 steps thing Really made me have hope. Being the third one is Regrowth. I have a huge bald spot that has grown. It’s so uncomfortable to look at I hate it. Hoping it grows back
The comment section on alopecia videos are always a sad place, sorry for your struggles. Cutting out caffeine helped me regrow some hair loss from alopecia. I was also taking vitamin D twice a week, that might have helped to.
A lot of it has to do with stress and bad routine. Also if you suffer from skin disorders like psoriasis or eczema there is more chance of alopecia. It’s due to the fact our immune system is attacking ourselves that could be triggered by bad routine, sugars, food, drugs etc
If you have underlining issues which you don't know about, it can be triggered. However, diet and small bouts of stress is not going to cause alopecia areata. Your immune system has to be triggered to where it becomes overactive, it has nothing to do with having a weak immune system, the immune system is to STRONG which then it begins to attack. Genetics plays a major role, if you carry the gene u might develop it later on on life, it just has to be triggered. Other major factors of course can be chronic emotional stress, illness, medication. Anything that will trigger your immune system basically. Its not really based on having a bad diet or using drugs
@@kvocalist well I’m telling you this from experience. Also from a Medical standpoint even doctors cannot tell you the triggers. Only that it is made up of 3/4 things. One immune system attacking itself, two genetic predisposition, 3 routine/food/stress/triggers
@@YaDunno54 Yeah of course a lack of vitamins could definitely be a factor. I wonder if all of these things combined trigger the immine system. I wanna know once the immune system is overactive, does it just attack and attack causing the aloepecia, or does it stop and then get overactive again. I am a bit loss about that part, as some folks experience 1 patch one year and then the following year their is comes like crazy. Like does the immune system stay overactive all that time??
I had this disease for many years but now it is slowly getting better and I am happy about this. If any of my brother, sister or friend is suffering from this pain then talk to me,
Hello, mere eyebrow ki hair fall kr rhe h Plz tell me what to do And eyebrow ki neeche wali skin jo upper eyelid h wo v puffy rehti h, plz tell me what to do

I feel you, I’m 23 and I’ve had it since I was 4. No eyebrows, bald head, no facial hair. It does really suck especially as a kid. Other kids can be very cruel. The always getting stared at which in my case forced me to always where a hat in public, very discomforting I know. Fr sure it’s a not a normal childhood it’s a rough upbringing. It definitely gets better with age. As far as confidence control what u can control and that is the state in which ur body is in, hit the gym achieve a more aesthetic physique and that would help significantly
You hear about things like this and you think Oh that's so sad. It's probably not that bad. I mean it's just hair But you never think it'll actually happen to you. My sister was doing my hair and randomly noticed a large bald spot on the back of my head around 2 months ago. Just happened to be at the doctors and told her about it as a funny story and she wanted to look at my hair she said it was concerning and to come back if it got worse. Guess what another large spot on the other side of my head. Wow! So amazing!
I have this bald spot. When I get a skin fade my bald spot is exposed even though there is no hair? There is literally 0 hair follicles there so it stand out even if I was to go bald. I’ve had this my whole life and it’s annoying. Not really a problem now because I grew out my hair but still it’s ANNOYING. I have multiple bald spots. Some are massive but it was covered by hair and some are small. I’m 17 btw so it’s definitely not male pattern baldness as I’ve had this since I was like 5 y.o. IVE BEEN TO A DOCTOR MANY TIMES AND THEYVE SAID THAT IT WILL GROW BACK. They never said it was aloprcia. They said because I have iron deficiency I have these bald spots… I’ve fixed it and it’s still there?!??!? Sorry for the rant
I developed AA last year and since then I had 4 patches. One would heal and another one would appear. It took me a long time to notice the first one because it was on the back of the head. I went to a specialized dermatologist and they did injections of corticosteroids during the course of months and I applied every night corticosteroids as lotion. From my personal opinion, corticosteroids in lotion might work better than in cream, because the lotion can penetrate more than superficially the skin. The two patches on the back of the hair have regrown. It appeared one in the top of the head and I realized quickly and started to apply the lotion right away, it stoped spreading and it started regrow promptly. For women sometimes is hard to identify a patch because we have a lot of hair. I found another one closer to my ears, it is a big one because I took a lot of time to find it. I have some tips: if you are a woman, pay attention to suddenly hair loss with strands of hair falling together. If you can not find the patch, try dividing your hair in different parts and brushing it separately. In this manner you may find where the majority of the hair is falling from and localize the bald spot. Try applying corticosteroids in lotion as soon as you notice the bald spot, to avoid it from getting bigger. If you suffer from this condition very often, it is better if you consult a specialized dermatologist. I think the recovery may be harder if the AA spreads and if we wait too long for treating it.
Did you directly apply the corticosteroids , or bought some lotion that contain it? Can you please name it as well, this condition is getting very depressing
@@Neyoo88 Hi! I’m happy to share that my condition has fully recovered. I strongly recommend seeking professional help from a dermatologist experienced in treating AA. In my case, monthly microinjections of corticosteroids into the affected patches made a big difference. These injections target the deeper layers of the skin, addressing the inflammation that disrupts hair growth. Additionally, I applied corticosteroid lotion to my scalp every night. These lotions were prescribed by my doctor, who adjusted the formulation regularly to prevent my scalp from becoming resistant to the treatment. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best on your journey to recovery!
Currently have it right now and it started about 2 months ago and I'll get like a weird tingling sensation on my head or the kind of sensation you feel when you take your hair down from a bun that you've had for a long time. I'm lucky that I only have two large ones on the back of my head and none on the top or the front. Currently getting treatment and have hair growing back. Still very short hair
Me too! And I'm only 19, I feel like I've lost my identity in its entirety. I feel hopeless, and I am not prepared to potentially loose all of my hair if that is the case :(
@@elsavaldivia1602 yes! I started taking supplements, changed my diet, eased off on stress, and oiling/scalp massaging my hair. I have no new bald spots and all my old bald spots have grown new hair.
I have a question!! I am 12, and have had Alopecia since the Lockdown. (9-11) AND Diagnosed with Trichotillomania with Alopecia Areata. One eyebrow and One eyelashe. I pull my hair often but it also falls out. I have most of my hair, just multiple patches. Do I have Alopecia, Trichotillomania or both?

I got alopecia areata last October. I got one bald spot on the back of my head. Before that I was stressing out about my surgery to get my wisdom teeth removed. That was in July when I had my surgery and was put under. It’s slowly gotten bigger since I first got it and is now a little bigger than a quarter. I wonder if the stress of worrying for months and finally getting the surgery triggered it or not. Also, I rarely get sick. I haven’t been sick with anything in 5 years. Maybe my immune system is too strong or something.
Im 22 i noticed low density above my ears and hair loss, there are small round spots below extreme small spots where hair loss , i have been visited a dermatologist he treated me for. A period of 3 months still no change and hair loss is going on and my hair line changing gradually with low density of hair , what i have to do please reply
I just discovered a bald spot. I have shorter hair and used to be a cosmetologist so I cut my own hair and discovered it that way 2 days ago. My hair was the perfect length to hide it. As a woman I'm a little stressed about it (I've made an appointment), but more nervous to lose my eyebrows, so fingers crossed that doesn't happen.
Have you tried "Alpecin C1" caffeine shampoo? I had this a few times and after using this stuff it started to go back to normal after a few weeks. May not work for everyone but may be worth a try. You can get it from most supermarkets or on ebay.
I've had this condition for 39+ yrs...I have no hair on my head , no eyebrows or eyelashes....I've had excema since 2 wks old and had beautiful hair until I turned 30...
Can having dreadlocks cause this is or something similar because I never had hair issues but after cutting my hair after having dreadlocks for 10 years, I have something similar to this going on with the top of my head
Yessssss! I had dreadlocs for ten years and was wondering why I had a bald spot long story short cut my locs and noticed patches where my locs use to be my hair has not been the same .
I’ve had alopecia for as long as i can remember I’ve lived with it been bullied because of it to I wonder if I’ll ever really have a chance to get my hair back
I had Covid nov 2020 three months later all my hair fell out in 3weeks no hair anywhere ,what a shock it was, hardest part for me is excepting how I look in the mirror or any reflection ,mobile phone laptop shop windows etc,I had thick dark hair but now a pink bald head, but I’m alive and healthy other wise ,I hope one day a cure is found ,it’s just that little signal to start growing hair ,who ever finds it will become a billionaire😊

Mine started around age 8-9 with a single patch. Doctors prescribed rubbing it with garlic which didn't work. A barber treated it with acid - it burned the skin, formed a scab and after it naturally fell off, hair regrew. Unfortunately, later on new patches appeared but the acid was no longer working.

My adult daughter has 2 patches . First visited DRs 3 months ago . Dr waiting to see if medicated shampoo works but it’s not doing anything. It is getting worse.
Hi. Do you still get it? Ive had it a few times and found that Alpecin shampoo works wonders. Its about 8 quid a bottle from most supermarkets. Since using it i've never had it come back. Hopefully it would work for you. Maybe worth a try 👍
I'm not even sure if i care to go back to my dermatologist because right off the bat her opinion made no sense.... I have thinning hair on the temples of my head and the center of my crown and at the time when i was wondering about the temples i asked her about my hair and she called it traction hair thinning saying i pulled my hair too tight, i think she assumed i do because i'm black and she thinks i wear hair peices..... I've never worn weaves or wigs, i don't do hair extensions, and the only time i've ever had a perm was like for only 2 years when i was in high school and that wasn't even my choice, my mom decided to impose it on me because she got tired of combing my hair because it was always so big and thick. I've always had long natural hair and the only thing i've been doing was wearing my hair in braids because i don't have much options, my hair knots on itself because i have 4b hair, it's always getting tangles if i wear it out and i cant keep it in a braid less bun with the loose hairs combed a ponytail because by the time i start running a comb through it it resists too much starting to knot on itself again.... I've always had long thick hair, like 30 inches of it most of my life, then suddenly i hit 30 and randomly started getting anxiety attacks followed by eczema and then my hair started thinning at the temples and then the center crown of my head, then i've been noticing how my hair don't seem to have luster like i did when i was in my 20s either, like it being super black and shiny, now it's dull, dry, and overly kinky when normally it waves, and when i comb it i notice a lot of broken ends all over the place. It's kinkier like closer to 4c and not as long anymore, it went from 30 inches stretched down to my back to now about 23-15 inches long. I've always been a shedder growing up, a large amount always came out but it was never a concern because there was so much hair and so much length as soon as it sheds it grew back a decent amount and i never had bald spots, and my hair grew very fast like 2 inches a month, but now it's even more hair being combed out, like a massive ball per week...... Only now new hair don't replace all the extra shedding like it used to, there's no straight up baldness it just doesn't have as much body anymore and is notably thin in some areas. The only leads i have are eczema and anxiety and possibly hypothyroidism or something else similar because what else is there to speculate about and i'm getting fed up. I don't have much options to explore treatments not even natural, because a lot of treatments are expensive not to mention trying out medical serums.... I feel like for now ill just stick to my family dr, like blood tests and stuff like that to rule out hormonal problems or if it's even anxiety or eczema related, because the dermatology rout don't feel like it's headed anywhere, demonologists are my last resort because i don't see anything physically wrong with my scalp, no flakes or scales, so i'm wondering if it's a systemic problem.

in my opinion Jak inhibitor is dangerous.. because it used to suppress or shutdown our immune system so that they won't attack our hair follicle.. but any little infections can make our life itself in danger.. PRP not gonna work with alopecia because our immune system don't allow
What are the chances of AA occurring more than once after recovery? I had alopecia areata (an oval-shaped bald spot that grew to 6 cm in diameter over 5 months). It's mostly grown back with steroid injections, but the baldness is still spreading 0.2 cm every now and again.

I got steriod treatrments and it came back over the course of a year. It than got me again at 33 years old. Same treatment and course of time. I got it again at 48 years old and I am still dealing with it now. It is not doing great this time. I am having a very hard time getting it back with treatment. The answer to your question is nobody really knows the answer, it is very mysterious. It sucks! Try every treatment. The steroid injections and the topical solution right away. The sooner the better. Just go it and got to small patches. One is not visible after visiting the barber and the new one is visible, and I just paint it to camouflage it. I just went to walgreens and bought almost 100$ worth of shampoo with ketoconazole 1% and drops of minoxidil 5%... today was my first application. Alopecia probably indicates fluoride toxicity. I was on tap for half a year, and during the storms (runoff into rivers feeding the tap supply here) recently I started pulling a lot of hair which never happened before. Stopped the (high quality filtered) tap and couple days later no more. Also might explain common male baldness, people are the only animals drinking that much water (which even in nature can be highly fluoridated).
So i ve had bald spots on my hair since i was 8 or 9. Im turning 15 soon and ive given up on my hair. And a single shower will pull half of my hair out. I remember a time when i was like 11 where these bald spots disappeared but they did come back. It doesnt really annoy me but i kind of got curious. I have always been stressed and an over thinker and my diet isnt consistent of anything healthy bc iam really picky. I ve lived with the bald spots long enough so i just dont really care anymore 🤷

I've been suffering with this since I was 17. I was recommended steroid cream, is this the same as steroid creams you get for eczema as I also suffer with that too.
Im on my 3rd time with this in the last 3 years. Not sure why it happens. The first 2 times it was on my face. This time its on the side of my head. Very embarrassing.
I also noticed when i was first diagnosed with eczema some of the hairs on my arms and legs would easily wipe off, like if i run my hand over my arm and the hairs would slip out of the follicle like they were loose and my eyebrows started thinning. Now the skin issue is dealt with and my eyebrows have grown fully back in and my hairy arms seem somewhat typical, the hair on my head just got worst as those other problems improved on their own. I don't know if it's the same thing that's now happening with my scalp.
I got this back in high school I remember I got so stressed out and I didn’t know what it was and it was like that for 3 months then I smoked weed and it grew back lol
Have been having bald patches for close to 10years and it's worsening...i visited a dermatologist 5 years back who injected my scalp with some corticosteroids and prescribed some topical cream which I used but it hasn't improved my hair growth.any advice?

I have a bald spot on the right side of my head and on the left side by my ear it’s very discouraging to me I wear a hat everyday to hide it but I don’t like it 😞
I've had AA since '91 then it was very rare by 2010 it wasn't so rare. After Years of research, I believe without a doubt my situation is a result of Roundup/ glyphosate.
Hey girl, i just wanted to say that i am also a SLE patient and i got hospitalized at february 25th 2022,luckily i survived and got discharged in april 7th2022. I experienced hair lost soon after my discharge so i shaved it. I just wanna comfort you and say not to lose hope. Rn my hair is like a good 4½ inches. I pray you get better soon

@@johnc3212 did it grow back ?

@@Maverick-316 definitely will use this thanks a lot dude 🥺
People that treat you like trash are the ones that are trash don’t let it get to you
A lot of it has to do with stress and bad routine.
I'm not saying you're wrong lol. I do think illness and medication is before food. Never heard of food giving someone alopecia
@@kvocalist not food. A lack of food/balanced diet, very poor diet, lack of nutrients and vitamins etc

I feel you, I’m 23 and I’ve had it since I was 4. No eyebrows, bald head, no facial hair. It does really suck especially as a kid. Other kids can be very cruel. The always getting stared at which in my case forced me to always where a hat in public, very discomforting I know. Fr sure it’s a not a normal childhood it’s a rough upbringing. It definitely gets better with age. As far as confidence control what u can control and that is the state in which ur body is in, hit the gym achieve a more aesthetic physique and that would help significantly

Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you so much for your info

I jus t started going through this 3months ago😢 I'm n my early 30's...Perms... Braids... Wiv...done it all....I FEEL SO F!

"In most people, new hair eventually grows back in the affected areas, although this process can take months. Approximately 50 percent of people with mild alopecia areata recover within a year; however, most people will experience more than one episode during their lifetime". Source: Uptodate

I highly recommend everyone to do Parasite Cleansing.
In their system. We all need to cleanse once in a while. Parasites are the cause of a lot of health issues in our body....
I have found a alopecia spot on the back of my head. Its been 7 days,It is extremely frustrating.
doctor, what are your opinions on jak inhibitors and prp?
btw i’m 15 yrs old
I don't know enough about these classes of medications to make an informed comment
@@DrODonovan doctor, my alopecia areata is regrown now i’m healed can i perm my hair? (boy)
in my opinion Jak inhibitor is dangerous.. because it used to suppress or shutdown our immune system so that they won't attack our hair follicle.. but any little infections can make our life itself in danger..
PRP not gonna work with alopecia because our immune system don't allow
@@danielemahi1929 I'm not a doctor .. I was suffering from childhood.. am still on my research
What are the chances of AA occurring more than once after recovery? I had alopecia areata (an oval-shaped bald spot that grew to 6 cm in diameter over 5 months). It's mostly grown back with steroid injections, but the baldness is still spreading 0.2 cm every now and again.

I am sorry but for medico-legal and ethical reasons I can't give individual clinical advice on this channel. This is designed as a general education channel. Please consult your doctor or health provider for individual questions and concerns. I hope you found the video informative nontheless. Best wishes.
I am 49 years old. I first suffered alopecia areata at 20 years old. It started off with two circle patches and over the course of the next 4 months there was circle patch loss over my entire scalp. Good Luck..
@Kajal Bhendre I never heard of that. Thank you. I used an am currently using clobetasol and steroid scalp injections every 5 weeks. It's not.coming back like in the past.
@@ARoberts0115 As I was writing it out, I think I already knew the answer to my own question. But reading comments like yours help me accept and come to terms with it (especially as someone in their early 20s). Thank you, and good luck to you.
I’m in the beginning stages. Started using hims because I thought I was just balding but now I stopped using the drops because I noticed my beard having bald patches so I’m just gonna ride it out 😂
What will happen if I have a male pattern gene and I workout and take basic supplements like protein shakes and creatine etc along with that | also take 1mg of Finasteride also use minoxidil 5%
My question is will I gonna loose my hair or I will be fine

My GP said nothing can be done about my bald spot demoralising for me don't want to be seen without a hat on
Just go it and got to small patches. One is not visible after visiting the barber and the new one is visible, and I just paint it to camouflage it. I just went to walgreens and bought almost 100$ worth of shampoo with ketoconazole 1% and drops of minoxidil 5%... today was my first application. I hope it helps with the condition, I don't want to get more patches 😢
I've got 3 spots, coin sized shapes. Did you see any improvements yet?
How ia it possible rhat there is no cure ..I mean therebis but rhe sideeffects are grosse
Alopecia probably indicates fluoride toxicity. I was on tap for half a year, and during the storms (runoff into rivers feeding the tap supply here) recently I started pulling a lot of hair which never happened before. Stopped the (high quality filtered) tap and couple days later no more.
Also might explain common male baldness, people are the only animals drinking that much water (which even in nature can be highly fluoridated).
please doc help me get rid of this
So i ve had bald spots on my hair since i was 8 or 9.
I blame mine - totalis (pain in the back side) - on gluten
My patches continue to spread grown after two years. Is this concerning?

I've been suffering with this since I was 17. I was recommended steroid cream, is this the same as steroid creams you get for eczema as I also suffer with that too.
Idk what happens when I strech my hairs it falls out...but i dont have bald spots on my scalp....is there any danger??
Please speak to your doctor since I can’t give individual advice here for medicolegal reasons
I am dealing with alopecia totalis..I live in Ghana... currently school and stigma is my major problem
I'm sorry to hear this.
If it is sudden and growing? We must wait until more than half of our head is completely bald are you joking ?

I cut down on alcohol and caffeine and I was able to grow some small patches back. I started taking vitamin D around that time as well and that might have helped to.
