All that flavor being left on the stupid wooden board - lost forever. I peel and then add garlic whole. Wait 10 minutes for it to soften (somewhat) and then mash it with a fork.

My Dad was Hungarian and he taught me this recipe. The only thing you have missing is cucumber salad done in oil and vinegar with fresh cream on top with a sprinkling of red and back pepper! Yummy!

He took a cut of sugar and a cut of white vinegar and shook them together till the sugar dissolved. He cut the cucumber in very thin slices and put it into a bowl and covered in salt and mixed it up. Waited till the fluid comes out and squeezed the rest of the water out then put the squeezed cucumber into a bowl and pour on the sugar vinegar mix. Then you put cream on the top and sprinkle with black and red pepper! Delicious with everything savoury! My mum liked it so much she had it in sandwiches! 😂

Californian here. I made this dish and I loved every bite. I will definitely make it again. I made noodles instead of rice. I used chicken broth instead of water, and I found that it needed more paprika. Maybe Italian tablespoons are bigger than American tablespoons.😄
Hungarian paprika is really intense in its flavor, I'd even say 2 tbs are too much for this amount. Also, I really don't think this is close to anything Hungarians do traditionally. Here are a few points: we don't really use butter, a more authentic way would be with lard, it gives an amazing flavor. Also, while it's nice to brown the chicken first, we don't really do that beforehand. Instead of the sweeter red onion we use white ones. Please don't pour tomato paste into this. If you want to have a bit more tomato-y flavor, add more fresh. Hungarian wax pepper is really nice addition, you can kinda substitute it for bell peppers but once again, those are much sweeter. The 2nd key ingredient is "tejföl", which is milder and fattier than a sour cream. Maybe you could mix sour cream and heavy cream together to get a closer match. It is mostly served with small easy flour-water dumplings or pasta instead of rice. Finally, please don't add parsley to this. Disclaimer: the recipe shown here can work if you add those sweeter ingredients the tomato paste can balance it out just fine and then parsley goes well with it. Rice is fine with that but I do not see how that is hungarian apart from adding some paprika powder.
I don't think this was shown to him by a Hungarian, nowadays it is very trendy to say something like this to pretend it is an authentic recipe. I am Hungarian as well, and this is not the Hungarian way to make this dish.

It just shows how small the world is - with basic ingredients making wonderful dishes. I believe Indian chicken curry has much more spices. And do you use sour cream? But maybe each region has their own curry variation.

Nice! Chicken Paprikas is one of my favorites. Love how this (like gulyas and stuffed cabbage) are regional, because my family never uses tomatoes in this, but we do add green bell pepper strips. I highly recommend making nokedli (small spoon drop dumplings) to soak up the amazing sauce. Great video!👏
I made it today because I had all the ingredients on hand and I cook everyday but I haven’t tried any new recipes in a while so my husband usually just eats and never says anything but today I made this over some white rice and he kept saying “man this food is delicious!” So thanks for the recipe!!! I think your videos are awesome and at the right speed. You just go at your own pace which is great. This dish is similar to one that is part of the Cuban cuisine called Fricase de pollo; some ingredients are different but it reminded of the dish my mom used to make. Nice! Chicken Paprikas is one of my favorites. Love how this (like gulyas and stuffed cabbage) are regional, because my family never uses tomatoes in this, but we do add green bell pepper strips. I highly recommend making nokedli (small spoon drop dumplings) to soak up the amazing sauce. Great video!👏

I made it today because I had all the ingredients on hand and I cook everyday but I haven’t tried any new recipes in a while so my husband usually just eats and never says anything but today I made this over some white rice and he kept saying “man this food is delicious!” So thanks for the recipe!!! I think your videos are awesome and at the right speed. You just go at your own pace which is great. This dish is similar to one that is part of the Cuban cuisine called Fricase de pollo; some ingredients are different but it reminded of the dish my mom used to make. Also I enjoy reading the subtitles in Italian; nice to learn a little Italian!
