Hey Kevin, my husband and I are full-time resellers since Sept 2020. We are also a homeschooling family of history buffs, and our sons have their own ebay store. So, we have a lot in common. We were part-time resellers before this, my husband quit his job and has had zero regrets. We've been watching forever, as subscribers, we just never comment. CONGRATS!!

I too taught History/Geography in secondary ed. Coached three sports for 12 years. Stopped teaching in 2005 to care for my wife, and build homes. I enjoyed this part of my life until my wife passed away. I went back and taught the extra 4 years for retirement. I would never regret the years I was able to spend with my wife before she passed away. Good luck Kevin. Keep the faith brother.

I left my nursing career after 19 years and while it was such a good decision… at the same time I shed tears. You guys are an amazing strong family who will do great things! Your channel has blessed many and will continue to do so. Wonderful and great things are to come.

Good for you Kevin. There is no reward greater than the one we give up for our family and taking a risk. You have a enormous amount of stamina, energy and a knowledgeable sense of what sells. I gave up a high paying position to raise my Grandaughter. She is now in Medical school. I missed my income so I taught myself to sew and started making children’s outfits. Started selling on eBay and the last outfit I made went for 1000. My father had passed but I could here him saying don’t give up Mary keep going. no so I did. You will be successful. Change is hard but also exciting. Congratulations Kevin.

I went through the same dilemma 4yrs ago. I used to just take the safe road, had great paying job and large sum in the bank but was bored and unhappy. I felt like I was watching my life pass before me and finally decided I am going to quit and find something for myself. I started off buying a second house doing the work and flipping it, I found that while I liked it I didn't have a reliable contractor so it wasn't for me. I sold the flip house for a profit, from that point on I have spent the last 3yrs reselling and have loved it ever since. My wife has been incredibly supportive, she was a bit concerned at the start as she is not much of a risk taker but I couldn't do this without her support.

I'm not crying, you're crying! Darn allergies... aww Blue Ridge Mama likes having you around after all these years 🙂 It's always been obvious that she's supportive of, and a big part of, the reselling business. So her support of this particular decision doesn't surprise me. Pretty sure I've mentioned it before, but I homeschooled both of my kids, too. We loved it! My husband owned his own business most of that time, so our schedule was pretty open and allowed us to go wherever we wanted. I'm so excited for you guys! Now I've seen the other Kevin (TN Picker) go full time, Candice quit her job to work with Lonnie, Edin and Melinda both quit to go full time, and just last week Haley quit her job to work with Josh. I'm sure there are others, but those are the first to come to mind. I can't wait to see where the journey leads... ❤️

A little scary but it was worth it and you will not regret this decision. I miss the students and the excitement of a high school but love the hustle I get to do daily. By the way I also hate the idea of teaching English and never did it once in 27 years.

You will never regret this decision and I speak from experience as I retired in 2017 with 30 years teaching in NC. Loved teaching but testing and data management/number crunching had become more important than quality teaching. I started reselling on eBay in 1999 when listing was much harder without digital camera technology but it was a side hustle that proved to be my salvation and now I make 3 times my teaching salary on eBay & Poshmark. So enjoy more time with your family and let the side hustle be your mainstay. God Bless you & your family

So proud of you for taking the leap. I left my 20 year nursing career in February. It’s been such a tough adjustment. I didn’t have an established store as you do. We have managed to stay afloat by the skin of our teeth as I figure this out. You really touched on so many things that eBay gives that you just don’t get from working the 9-5 for someone else. Thank you for sharing this. I needed some inspiration today. I am working on building my brand and trying to have live sales but just not growing as I would like. But, change is good and important. So now today I will dust myself off and work a little harder to keep growing. Going back to that pressure is an option but it’s not an option. Success for us is in our future. Best wishes to you and your family. Enjoy your summer.

Had to laugh when your wife said she wants you to have “Some” enjoyment. I’m thinking, but not too much. There are limits, let’s not go crazy. When I first retired, many years ago, my wife had similar concerns regarding my ability to slow down a bit. She voiced it as I had been running a crew of about 50 techs, budget, scheduling, travel, etc and was also a bit compulsive and now I would have only her and I to “manage”. So I retired and started a part time business, while she worked a part time job in town. Her job was as much as anything to give her social interaction and time separate from me. It’s a balance. No matter how much you like someone, some time apart, interacting with others is part of the needed balance.

The way I see it, a teacher is something you are, not just something you do. It’s always taken a special type of person to be a teacher, but especially the way things have changed in the last couple decades. My sister is a teacher, one of my friends is a teacher, her mom was a teacher before retiring... There’s a huge level of altruism involved because the pay isn’t great and lord knows that not only some of the students but the parents you have to deal with these days are a huge challenge. As much as any job, being a teacher is a calling, so stepping away from that is a huge deal. But, you’re right, it’s an opportunity you’d probably regret not pursuing. As successful as you have been at reselling part time, I have no doubt you’ll kill it full-time. I’ve been reselling for a bit over a year now and your videos have been a huge help to informing me and helping me improve. So, you’re still going to be teaching people, just not in the way you’d always thought you would. Best of luck!

I was a dance teacher in a top program in CT. They attempted to replicate the program that accepted all students regardless of interest in the arts. Teaching was like pulling teeth. Kids just didn’t want to sweat, or move or create! It was insane! What’s the point of specialization programs if a child is not willing to do the work? It was a major drag on those who would participate because dance is an ensemble skill. 😢

Wow -- what a change ! Well done. We are in northern Virginia and I plan to keep my corporate job until I'm 50 -- then when the house is paid off, I might get out. So excited for you guys. Excellent.

You didn't??? CONGRATULATIONS 👏 👏 👏 You looked terribly conflicted. You can tell that this was a very tough decision for you because you truly love to teach, it just radiates from you. I know you will do well and enjoy being with the family. I'm very happy & excited for you all! Good luck! I know you will thrive!! Make sure to throw in some extra history on the channel to get your fill 😊

Congrats to you and the family! I quit my job of 19 years working with teens in foster care to get married and move to a different state. It was an adjustment!! You just have to find connections in different ways. You'll still have some kiddos stay in contact with you, which is always a pleasure! You have a great reseller eye, lots of charisma and I feel like I can see your work ethic blueridgemama talked about. Congrats again!

Wow Kevin, that is great news. Congratulations on your decision to become a full time reseller. You, your wife, and kids will make for a great team. Honestly I was wondering when you would do this full time. Timing is everything, and this is the right time. Love you all.

She said dealing with the parents were worse then dealing with the children but she finally retired and she’s so much happier now I totally upset what you were going thru with teaching I think you are making the best choice and you will be happier

This is a great video for several reasons and one that was needed for people like me: love to see how you’re including your wife in this decision and allowing her to speak her mind concerning the decision, that you mention how she will be helping you as you transition, and how you speak brutally honest about what went into the decision. In the end what matters most is family…seems like I heard someone say that one time. Changing lives one video at a time!

I finally went searching this particular video out. I, too, was a teacher and made the decision many years ago to go out. Not for reselling, but to be with my kids. Now we homeschool, and I resell part time because of people like you, Kayla, John, and yes even Dave and Cary...🤣. I know this is old news now, but I just wanted to say a big kudos to you for following your dream and choosing what meant the most to you. I am sure that these last 2 years have been an amazing adventure, both scary at times and unbelievably fulfilling. You're right that we're not here long, and you're giving your kids time that they will cherish forever. Thanks for the continued teaching and excellent content, and continued best wishes to you and your sweet family!

Congrats!!!! I always thought you were joking! I'm at a point in my career/life where I need to make some serious decisions too!! I work in Finance. Compliance, regulations, debilitating and endless amounts of paperwork, meetings, zoom calls, conference calls, client service work, etc., etc are LITERALLY wearing me out as a human!!! My business has changed so much (and NOT in a good way) just in the last 5- years or so that it's INSANE!!! Anyway, I could go on for hours. Congrats on your decision!!!!!

Oh how I want to do what you are doing! My husband and I both work in the education system. I don't make much being a preK teacher at a private school and my husband doesn't make much school bus driving and substitute teaching, but we make just enough to pay our bills. We plan to make some decisions in a couple of years when he can retire. On the other hand, I just told my husband that our school teachers are dropping like flies because they have so much put on them and not getting paid enough. Congrats on doing what you love! Life is too short! God bless you and your family!

So happy for you and you got to make a decision you and your family got to make together. You will be successful, no doubt. CONGRATS!!!
Since you weren't able to say it without added drama, especially being a content creator...I will suggest it. In many professions within the past decade or so, things have become so politically divided and a social responsibility is no longer clearly understood as it was in generations gone by. Some of the traditional careers may not be as fulfilling as it was in the past, who knows. Especially in the schools as teachers are divided and it is taboo to speak about. I say that not to drum up conversation about it with anyone, but to set it out there so we all start to really think about how recent generations are changing and it may not be volitional. And that is much deeper in thought than to merely suggest that there is a ranking with generations, that's not the point.

I'm at the age where we were raised to work, work, work until 62 and then retire. But I now have 3 nieces who are retiring this year. It's a very different time. If you can still live comfortably in all ways, then by all means, do what you enjoy doing. Best of luck to you and thanks for sharing.

Congratulations, Kevin! I wasn’t expecting this at all! First, you and you’re family will be fine given the history you have already with reselling and the RUclips channels. As your wife said, you have a great work ethic and that will set you up for continued success. Second, your family’s support will definitely make the road smoother as you adjust to these changes. I retired 6 years ago after spending 35 years helping others plan and save for retirement. Having family support, setting goals, a great work ethic, and the right attitude will give you the success you need and want. While worrying about if you’ll have enough money to live your life is a natural thing, I found from most of my clients that the most troubling aspect of “retiring” was having to spend 24 hours with their spouse each day! LOL! After about 6 months, one of them had to go! I think you’ve got that one covered. Again, congratulations on your life changing decision. I hope to continue to learn from you going forward as I approach the end of my first year as a reseller!

I was just about to ask about retirement instead of quitting, then you mentioned it, which was a relief.
Now that you have more time devoted to resale, are you going to do more thrift store hunting? Also, if you don't already, look on fb marketplace, Varagesale and other sites/apps. I've found good deals on those and made a decent profit.

It's obvious what a difficult decision this has been. I appreciate that you included the whole family in It's resolution. I'm sure you'll do well. I expect that when Sept. rolls around there will be more "I wonder if" moments. Forge forward. Congratulations and best wishes on this next chapter. P.S. check with your auto insurance. With driving that much less you may be able to lower your premiums.
