The Amphitheatre of Capua (Capua is now called Santa Maria Capua Vetere) is still standing and you can go see it. I highly recommend going to see it. It’s an incredible experience. It’s not busy like the Roman Colosseum.
This is easily my favorite show ever made. Deserves so much more love than it got and DeKnight is active with the fans when it comes to this show. I messaged him before about making a Caesar show based in this world and he said he’d love to but doubt they’d get around to it. 😢

I used to listen to this series while I was doing repetitive peoduction work just to stay entertained while working. It's incredible. I've probably listened/watched the entire series more than 30 times lol
They literally could not make this show today. Also, as good as this episode was, you still haven't seen HALF of the AMAZING things on this show yet. The last episode alone is literally some of the best television ever made.

why wouldn't they be able to make it today? restrictions have become less strict over the years. the older friday the 13th movies had to cut out nearly all the violence, now they can pretty much do whatever they want.
If you have finished Spartacus, I can recommend you the show Rome from HBO! It‘s just two seasons and is set around the civil wars in Rome around the end of the republic! So basically 25 years after Spartacus
yes, spartacus is my favorite series but rome is definitely up there in my top 10. i really wish there were more seasons though.
same with spartacus, did you know spartacus was originally going to be like 7 seasons long and was shortened after andy passed away and they had to replace spartacus? imagine we could have had over twice as many episodes with andy playing spartacus the entire time, no series would ever come close to it. as much as i like season 2, every time i watch it i imagine how much better it would be if andy were still playing spartacus.
spartacus went from having one of the strongest actors to having one of the weakest actors. it's still amazing because there are still so many other great characters, but it would have been so much better with andy.
@@Jack_80 I didn’t mind the new actor! Honestly, watching it on German having having the the same German voice actor doing the voice, it was a bit like with Dumbledore back in the day, you almost felt no difference!
I‘d rather have just 1-4 seasons that are fire, then a popular series that simply for too long (Walking Dead) or lacks in good coherent writing the longer it goes (Game of Thrones).
As much as I loved Rome, there wasn‘t really much left to tell after season 2 for most characters! The next 30 years is mainly political backstabbing inside Julio-Claudian dynasty... I can recommend you „I, Claudius“ if you‘re interested in this era! It‘s from the 70‘s and clearly dated, but the plot is great and George Martin also said this series inspired him regarding GoT, especially some of the characters in this show (Tyrion, Stannis, Ned & Cersei just to name a few)
@@michelmorio8026 i think spartacus could have greatly benefitted from a few more seasons. you can tell it was rushed, like they just skipped from season 2 to season 7. same with rome, pretty sure they intended to have more seasons but just skipped to the end. i don't think 7 seasons is too much, many shows are good through 7 seasons. once they reach 10+ is often when they go downhill. burn notice is 7 seasons long and that's one of my favorites. ncis was really good for about 10 seasons but then really went downhill. i agree that some series just don't know when to quit, but the world and characters of both spartacus and rome could have easily filled out several more amazing seasons each. spartacus is my favorite series ever as is but i don't think i could possibly get too much of that world and those characters.
if you're not hearing the actors voices i can see why it would make little difference, but andy sounds so much more believable, the other guy sounds overly dramatic and fake like a soap opera actor or something, he just doesn't bring the character to life in a believable manner the way andy did.

Let’s be clear, the uprising overall was just 2 years! They travelled in the north of Italy and fought, they travelled back far south... to return back north... there really isn‘t that much to cover plotwise! You really would have to make a hell lot of things up and create/force more drama!
I don‘t see it believably covering what was going on in 5 seasons (gods of the arena not counted into this)!
What I would have liked was going into a spin-off... we had Crassus, Ceasar & Pompey! 2 already established, 2 to discover... there would have been so much possible as a drama series inside the late and scandal ridden late Roman Republic around these 3 core characters

I just finished watching the entire show last month for the first time. Let me just say i was more emotionally involved in this show than any other show. Rick Grimes and Jax Teller were my favorite tv characters of all time until i watched this show. Spartacus jumped to number 1.
And then you find out the actor died before season 2 and it just hits so hard.. RIP Andy Whitfield.
Spartacus remain number 1 tv series of all time.
If you haven't seen Banshee, you gotta see it...its a modern day Spartacus.
This season only gets better from here. By the time ep 13 ends you'll be so hyped up that your reaction room/setup may not survive.

If this series had an HBO backing this would be top 5 of all time. A lot of mainstream ppl kind of ignore because it was on STARZ in their early years, but hands down on of the best stories as far as shows go

@@justtrustash Gods of the arena is amazing. Vengeance and War of the damned are also great. The actor that replaces Andy as Spartacus is definitely not as good but he grows on you.

This is a great series and you make me laugh so hard with your enthusiasm. I love it!
You gotta remember Spartacus was real but with little true documentation of his life whereas Achilles was a Demigod, whose whose entire life was a made up to be an example, so technically Achilles can be and do whatever the story writer/teller wants. One of the historical facts about Spartacus was that he and Crixus were the leaders of the third servile revolt against Rome. But notice with Spartacus, even though we don't actually know much about him the writers were able to include just enough facts to make a series. Good review.
Ash, this reaction was spot on with the emotions that I felt watching this series. I am also in agreement how you forget about everything else that’s going on around you, it’s almost as if you are experiencing Spartacus’ life, the pain he goes through and his drive to do anything it takes to get his wife back. Kill them ALL!!!
Gannicus is probably my favorite but it's still awesome seeing this show
There used to be a Parthian event called the DuneSkull. An ancient fight held between two prisoners of Parthia. Two men, sometimes two women, sent out into the scorching desert. Held in a tent without water so you start the fight tired and dehydrated. Your only chance is survival. Kill your oppenent and they release you with a basic crate of resources. So even after you win, you must traverse the desert until you find a way out of it. 1 days worth of food water to get you there. Nothing else. And if you are still suffering from the fight. Doesnt matter.. imagine going through hell then being forced to endure a different kind straight after.

Tbh, I never understood the hype over Breaking Bad. It was good, but didn't really get to me.
For me, the #1 best show of all time is The Sopranos. Hands down.

Funny thing is that when I first watched the show when I was about 14, I missed the 4th episode and therefore had no context for majority of things in episode 5. But upon my second viewing, episode 4 is probably my 3rd favourite from the first season (after episode 5 and the last episode). The thing with this show is, the episodes are always enjoyable, but some of them just bring it to new heights to the point where you still feel the hype even when watching next episode and so no downgrade is felt.
I started watching this show when I was 7 or 8 and I’m 20 so it’s safe to say I’ve been watching Spartacus my whole life and I loved 🥰 it each time.
Last episode which is S3 E10 is the all time best episode of any series i have ever seen. I hope you watch it.

This series makes Game Of Thrones look like a kids show.
Achilles literally went to the underworld in Greek myth.
That's the whole point of the 'Achilles Heel' thing - he was dipped in the River Styx of Hades leaving him basically invulnerable but for that one heel which the arrow pierced.
Wasn't he like a toddler when he was brought to the Underworld and got dipped into Styx by his mother? So not much of an achievement there.
So Ash actually makes a good point. It ain't that hard to be a super duper warrior if you're invincible. Well, practically invincible)
P.S. I'm not that good with Myths though so I might be mistaken. In that case my bad) I stand by that point anyway.
the series would have been beyond legendary if andy was around for all of it. RIP spartacus. The other guy was good but he couldnt put the raw emotion andy had into it.
I like both actors the same, I think Liam McIntyre did an amazing job with the character. Took some time for him to get into the role and it is really hard to take over a role from someone else, especially when that person did such an amazing job. And the last season Liam really freaking delivered, the final episode is legendary imo.

I know I'm late to this party, but I feel like the characters progression tied to the actors well....Season 1 Andy was more emotional and you really really feel for him in his struggles. I don't think Liam in S1 would be as heart breaking....S2/3 Liam had a ferocity to him, an anger and fire in his eyes. Could Andy do that, sure, but Liam did an amazing job showing us that. As much as we all would have loved it for Andy to have not fallen ill and been here and continued. RIP ♥
@@alexvasquez6793 the other actor was a great action preformer. if it involved anger. aggression he was fantastic. Andy however was just so good at everything else like the scheming part. his smirks or the blood shot eye glares. etc.

Difference between the Pits and the Arena, the pits is no rules and all the crowd want is blood and death, the Arena is more honorable, two warriors fighting to the death but you put on a show too, no dirty tricks or tactics or you lose face with the people.
