    Where are the common leaks that the hpop has? I just bought my first 6.0 from a buddy and he thinks it’s just leaking because it still has about 500-550 psi once warm and then has a very hard start once warm, and also, great video, I was really worried about what it would take to work on the hpop and this video has shown me that it’s not hard at all

      His was easy because of the egr cooler delete.
      A normal truck you need to remove the intake.I took the fan and radiator out also to have more room and clean.Bolts in the front have to be removed so it's more easy taking off the fan.The crossover pipe has to come off too.His didn't because he had the delete.
      Most guys remove the cab because of all these obstacles.
      Goodluck and say goodbye to your wife for a month or so.
      If you make a mistake it has to all come back apart.Like not tightening the spoolvalve nuts properly and they rattle off.Crimp and loctite nuts..😂😂😂😂😂
      Or sell the truck.

      Absolutely if it's not putting out 500psi it won't start

    • @JoshuaCollins
      @JoshuaCollins Год назад +2

      Yes and the way you can test to see if the h pop is failed with absolute certainty is removing your IPR valve and installing a ball valve on the IPR test fitting so that you can completely block air at the IPR port. Then connect shop air to a test fitting at the ICP port and listen for leaks. If your HPOP is failing more than likely you will hear gurgling and air if you use a piece of heater hose and listen down the oil filter housing. Of course you'll want to drain the filter housing first to make it easier to hear.
      A word of caution though: If this is the leak that you have because the h pop is pushing oil into the low pressure system you want to make sure to use the starter lead on the passenger side to turn the engine over a few times so that the h pop will pull all the oil out of the oil cooler area. If you don't do this and then pop the cover on the oil cooler there will be a big mess waiting to spill out all over the valley.

    If you put RTV ANYWHERE under that cover it will swell and act like a hydraulic pry bar, and sometimes cause a leak. These plates have rubber gaskets to seal the plate. You DO NOT need RTV

    • @ScottMyers5189
      @ScottMyers5189  Год назад +6

      I do not agree my friend. Where the rear cover meets the block you have to put a VERY little like in the video. The rubber gasket under the HPOP cover wont seal that part all the way due to the small step from the block to the rear cover. Pretty much in all cases if you have a rubber gasket like this you dont need RTV if the sealing surface is level. ex EJ series valve covers, this case it will not hurt one bit to use that little bit of RTV where i did.

    • @clintupham4466
      @clintupham4466 Год назад +2

      Even timing covers across many manufacturers they recommend sealing the joining surfaces even with the gasket.
