Consistency is not new MK's strong suit, they also changed the story of the first tournament where instead of Bi-Han being hired to assassinate Shang-Tsung, he was working for him instead. By all accounts, Bi-Han should be a tragic character Kuai-Liang is trying to save as he wasn't completely evil before becoming a wraith...but NRS are shit story tellers so never did anything with Bi-Han afterwards besides make him another villain jobber and give him a goofy ass voice.

If the new writers were actually creative, they could have done a cool role reversal with Bi-Han where he becomes the champion of the Elder Gods instead of Scorpion. In Deadly Alliance, Scorpion gets thrown into a Soul-Nado and would have been killed if the Elder Gods didn't rescue him and make him their champion. In MK9, Noob was thrown in a Soul-Nado, the same thing could have happened there where Noob is empowered by the Elder Gods to solve an issue with the promise of getting something in return. Either he could have been turned back to his human form or become a light based version of Noob, either would have been cool. Instead, NRS just went "More time travel bullshit, also Noob is back no explanation and he still sucks".

He had some evil in his heart, but wasn't all bad but as soon as Scorpion kills him, he's fully corrupted by evil and is never brought back. Only in MK Armageddon does Kuai-Liang actually want to bring him back but then the universe gets reset so he never gets a chance.
