Looking out the door
I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations
As their shoes fill up with water
Maybe I'm too young
To keep good love from going wrong
But tonight, you're on my mind so
You never know
Broken down and hungry for your love
With no way to feed it
Where are you tonight?
Child, you know how much I need it.
Too young to hold on
And too old to just break free and run
Sometimes a man gets carried away,
When he feels like he should be having his fun
Much too blind to see the damage he's done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that, really,
He has no-one...
So I'll wait for you... And I'll burn
Will I ever see your sweet return?
Oh, will I ever learn?
Oh, Lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late.
Lonely is the room the bed is made
The open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one
Who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep
That won't ever come
It's never over,
My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It's never over,
All my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her...
It's never over,
All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter...
It's never over,
She's a tear that hangs inside my soul forever...
But maybe I'm just too young to keep good love
From going wrong
Oh... lover you should've come over...
Yes, and I feel too young to hold on
I'm much too old to break free and run
Too deaf, dumb, and blind
To see the damage I've done
Sweet lover, you should've come over
Oh, love, well I'll wait for you
Lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late.
This is so gorgeous, my son. Another one of the great songs covered with grace and dignity. You fill me with pride and wonder; I'm your biggest fan. ( I'm sure your mom feels the same way. )
Congratulations on producing such incredibly talented children!
Thanks Dad... Now we need a video of you doing your version!
@@Aardvarked88 Thank you!
Oh Papa Landreth and Sonny Landreth together... so heartwarming!
Wallace, we have to give Mom and Dad first position, but there's a huge crowd vying for third position! So great, Joey!
Joey my son, this is so beautiful. I’m beyond words and so proud of you.
Normally I dread Jeff Buckley covers... this was fantastic, utterly fantastic
I know... I almost didn't do this tune for the EP but in the end, my admiration won out and I had to take a swipe at it myself. Thanks so much for the kind words!
100% agree - he’s near impossible to cover well but this is just beautiful
I was expecting a rough cover sung in the style of Tom Waites. My, what a shock. The voice of angel in a lumberjack’s clothes. Just sublime - from a 70 year-old who’s seen a few greats in his time, that was wonderful.
Jeff's voice had so much soul that anyone who covers any of his songs needs come with plenty of soul to do them justice. You did that!
Until seeing this, I didn't believe there was anyone qualified to cover this song.
This is like hearing "Grace" again for the first time. Thank you, Joey.
This cover deserves billions of views!
You just never cease to amaze me Joey. 👏👏❤️❤️
Unreal. And that collings just sings
Man, that guitar plays itself. Just get out of the way and let it do it's thing!
@@joeylandrethmusic Can you say what model it is? It sounds *amazing*
Incredible cover. Effortlessly heartfelt. Killer guitar work and a heartbreaking interpretation of the lyric. Buckley is smiling down on your version.
This is one of my favourite songs of all time. Possibly the greatest lyrics ever written. Bravo!
this is the best cover i’ve ever heard of a buckley song. i think jeff would be proud to hear this rendition of his song :)
Wow. What a great cover of the most talented kid there was. :'( Shame he left us way too early. Thank you for this.
Jeff was a unique soul, you've done him justice here.
This song really lends itself to the singer-songwriter style. Awesome cover, reminded me a lot of Ray LaMontagne.
Incredible cover. Deeply soulful singing, great guitar, dynamic, moving, does the song justice. I'm inspired and moved by this performance. Thank you. ❤
well, this is a great example of a cover that should have many many more views than it does
When Joey is already your favorite musician and then he covers a song you've covered dozens of times by one of his other favorite artists. Love you Joey!
In true (subtle) Buckley fashion, you were struggling to hold on inside the intensity of that last minute.. but *heart-playing* pulled it all together for you. Just like Jeff would do, over and over. Absolute beauty you created here… can’t believe how insanely dynamic your voice has become!!
Merci frère.
Adding some beautiful Landreth signature to an already beautiful song, awesome!! 🙌🏼
This little corner of the internet has become like a "soul station" for me; I come back from time to time to refill and take a break while I say to myself "It's not too late". Thank you, sir, for this soulfull nook.
Brilliant
This take on Buckley’s tune is a masterpiece, so moving, congrats! Am I crazy in wanting to see a version of this done with the Golden Guitar and slightly fuzzy?? Am I?!?!
It takes a special kind of someone to even consider a cover of a song like this, and an even more special talent to take it somewhere higher and personal like this…❤️ Bravo Joey, Thank you
Goodness me… I don’t have the words for this …. I don’t think there’s a hand that can touch Joey Landreth whether it’s guitar playing or vocals other than of course the hand of God which clearly rests gently on his shoulder whenever he performs… thank you for the gift of Joey Landreth. 🙏🏼
Blown away by this. Rarely so in awe of a performance. You really showed your depth in this one.
be right back, im weeping rn
Somehow sounds like he’s reading poetry rather than the lyrics. Timing, attitude and deliverance. Oooooo passionate. Quality music
The dynamics of your voice are those of a great singer🤩🥰
Beautiful cover!
wonderful version, thx for that
I never imagined anyone would ever cover this song, let alone do it justice like this.
Gorgeous man. And those chords. Mmmmm
I like chordsssssss
@@joeylandrethmusic What tuning are you using?
Fantastic!
Powerful, mate. Seriously great job being yourself while covering an absolutely inexplicable song from such a unique and exceptional musician.
Ahhhh... thanks so much. It's such a great song... One I'd wish'd I'd've written, that's for sure!
Man, that’s powerful
So freakin good
Glad I came back around to this today. One of the best songs of the last 30 years. Mind blowing.
You are one of the few that can do this song justice. Well done!
Oh yeah and 3:50 was beautiful ❤️
loves this
Excellent
Beautiful! Now time for me to figure out these chords in standard tuning :P
amazing, congratulations!
Howwwwww did I miss this? Man... This. Is. Stunning.
One of my favorite songs of all time executed beautifully.
Pretty good bud.
Impressive singing. Bang on in key, really pro.
Fantastic sound quality.
One of the best songs ever written. Thank you for putting out this amazing cover.
WOW
Really excellent performance. I really love Joey’s playing. The chord choices in this song are beautiful.
damn that collings sounds good
Beautiful cover! Excellent!
awesome cover
Joey, this my alltime favorite song from Jeff. This is great, man! Thanks!
Absolutely mesmerizing. I'm a fan of your playing for a long time, and hearing you singing a song by Jeff so beautifully and delicately... Wow. Thank you.
I love Jeff Buckley - did not think it could be matched- Joey- I'm all in on you brother!
Jeff Buckley is such a huge part of my life. I am so grateful that you approached this song with such humility. Surely one of the greatest love songs ever written treated with such tenderness. Thank you.
Just gorgeous! Imagine not being in the know, and getting to discover both Joey and Jeff from this. You lucky sob's....
My favorite song from Jeff covered by one of my favorite musicians. I'm not crying, your are crying!
amazing voice control dude!!
Hot damn. I'm going to agree with a prior commenter that I have bristled at many a Jeff Buckley cover, and this is, well, extraordinarily well sung with some really lovely dynamics in your singing and playing. Some of those chord formations in that open tuning, I suspect, are a real pain the ass, and you really nail it. You have a new fan.
Oh, my. Takes me back. You are such a talented soul.
Lanny McDonald would be proud....big fan from Ontario.
Can't wait to see you live again!! Maybe with the whole Brothers gang??!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written… lost him way too soon. Great version, takes a great talent to do it justice.
Beyond beautiful, Joey! Amazing artistry!!👍🏻👍🏻
Wow pure chills! Thak you Joey! I saw Jeff live in Adeliade in the 1990's. Such an honour.
Oh my. Speechless. My favorite JB song and hands down the best cover I’ve ever heard of it. Thank you for the care and passion you put into this.
Love the transposition/ interpretation one of the greatest songs ever written … goosebumps joey, thankyou
Well done man 👨 👏
Just absolutely beautiful! A truly wonderful performance of a truly great song. Hats off to you sir!
Great vocals. Nice guitar , nice playing. This is what music is.
Beautiful. I'm moved. Thank you and congratulations
holy shit. raw emotion and beautiful strings. that's all I can muster right now.
I am a huge Jeff Buckley fan and I was blown away by your rendition. Your guitar playing and your vocals are on point. So much feeling and dynamic control. I will be looking out for more of your work.
This was truly the best Jeff Buckley cover I have seen out of any of his songs. I’m not sure I could even attempt this now because I am not sure I could do the same justice that you have to this song.
Oh my god, Joey!! What a breathtaking performance. Best vocal performance I’ve heard in a long while. What a way to cover an already great song. Truly inspiring. Cheers and greetings from Norway.
Fuuuuuucccckkkkkk this is off the charts good!
I have no words Joey.
Some tears arrived.
Breathtaking.
I think Jeff would approve. Stunning version Joey !
Haunting.
1 question…who’s the lucky soul that got to stand behind the camera?
Absolute magic! How you aren’t in the upper echelon and a household name among Canadian musicians is beyond me!
You inspire
Too kind of you to say. The person behind the camera is my wife, Anna Salgado!
Incredible version. Not many do Buckley justice, you killed it!
Yes!
Damn man you never hear people covering Buckley for a reason but you crushed that. Totally impressed.
Holy fucking shit, Jesus fucking Christ THAT was amazing. I’ll be back
wow
Absolutely stunning.
Dear lord!! What a man!! 🔥
Absolutely fantastic. Been playing it all day and singing along
Deep, Joey. I felt that. Beautiful rendition.
I don’t know the song, but I know when something truly special happens
wow, like many others have said you dread these covers, but fantastic version in your own style....loved it.... amazing singer.... and lets not forget what a song by JB....
🙂 good stuff
This should definitely make its way into your long term repertoire. Really great version of a great song.
Also, great job avoiding the trap of trying to sound like Jeff Buckley (an impossible task!) while keeping some of that character. The only thing I would suggest is to make it even more your own.
Wow, just wow man. Buckley was such a unique, and exceptional talent…often overlooked as a guitarist.
You knocked this out of the park, Joey. Thank you for sharing this with us!
I'm speechless. Sung and played with tons of feel - gives me goosebumbs all over. Thank you for your music!
Awesome Joey! Appreciate it and all you do 🙏
Absolutely astonishing cover, Joey! You're a force of nature! Very excited to see what you're up to next!
This is my favorite JB song, one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. Beautifully written/performed. Your version is excellent!
