Some homeless don’t want to use the available assistance. Too many rules. Addiction to Alcohol and drugs is a big part of problem.

The homeless have so much resources that offer help… my ohana and I used to live in a shelter on the west side… we took advantage of all the programs that were offered… the homeless needs to want help, if not the homeless problem won’t go away forever….

I used to live in LA and knew someone who was homeless. He explained to me the fact is that a lot of the time homeless people have access to shelters they just choose not to go. He explained that what people forget is that shelters have rules. No drugs or crime. And a lot of homeless don’t like that. It’s unfortunate that a lot of people have to suffer because they don’t wanna get help.

@jwestside7099 I feel sorry for the homeless , they are down on their luck and maybe see no way forward. I don’t think there is a quick solution? I was there (on Oahu) in 2015 , there was homeless in tent cities outside of Honolulu. The bus driver said , the city did not want homeless in Waikiki and no homeless was aloud to sleep in Waikiki. The bus driver also said , that every homeless was offered a one ticket to any where in the world. He said a few took up the offer.. But from 2015 to now , it seems the problem got worst.
I’m looking forward to my upcoming holiday there in May ✈️🤙

Number one problem with the homeless is that they trash the area in which they reside, so this is a good for the community. Things that are confiscated are huge things that these people keep compiling, like furniture, etc.. These 1:36 people are living free off the aina, they don’t pay taxes or rent, and majority of them are so Kapulu. She said that after they leave, they just move back to the area, well maybe they need to start giving them tickets or something and arrest these repeat offenders. The problem with them is they don’t want rules, so they don’t go to the homeless shelters, smh

If she and her fellow house-less friends took better care of the Aina then she wouldn't need to go through this every few months. Make room in housing developments for those with native Hawai'ian blood. You can't continue to displace the people who were there before the settlers and colonists. For the rest, put them on a boat back to the mainland. In all seriousness, if a person came to Hawaii as a homeless person and stayed homeless, that person does not deserve the privilege of state residence.

Most state and local revenue comes from sales taxes not property taxes, which anyone who purchases anything, including alcohol and cigarettes, contributes to, even if they are poor. Hawaiians were better off as the self-sufficient independent nation they once were where they can also live with the land & sea by cultivating all they need. You know, humans are the only animals on earth who charge each other rent. And we call animals wild animals & ourselves the civil ones---how ironic! A lot of homelessness is systematically designed with high prices for everything in this day & age not just in Hawaii but on the mainland too. Our country since the 1950's hasn't really represented the interests of the average low-class & middle-class families. Time for change. Gov is supposed to work for the people not against them. Bigger isn't always better. Hawaii should be returned back to Hawaiians & everyone else should leave unless welcome by Hawaiians. Ya know, it was their land first before it was taken from them.
