Imagine many voices harmonizing together in a choir. When the right notes are sung together, an ethereal effect is created with dramatically more depth than a single voice. Pipe organs have done this for hundreds of years, using combinations of varying pipe diameters and lengths to form powerful chords. This technology caught the attention of our VP of Sales & Marketing David Borla, whose many years composing and performing in the music industry included a record contract with Sony. David worked with our R&D team to apply organ pipe mathematics to exhaust applications. The exciting result is the Borla Polyphonic Exhaust Harmonizer, which is now featured in select Borla exhaust systems.
These patent-pending units contain pipes of different diameters and lengths to create multiple exhaust notes that harmonize to deliver a clean, rich, full-bodied sound to the Borla mufflers. The mufflers then enhance this sound to the character and volume appropriate for our Touring, S-Type and ATAK® systems.
The limitless combination of pipe diameters and lengths allows Borla to tune each application so that the best notes and harmonics of specific engines are highlighted.
Thanks to the straight-through design of the Harmonizers, Borla customers get the ultimate in tuned exhaust sound with zero loss in performance.

This truly outside the box thinking.
Thanks for the lesson of controlling sound wave compression and expansion. Then add length and size gives me a great feeling about the vehicles that use the ICE power plant.
Thanks to all at Borlan! ASE Master, retired.

Great idea of creating pipes with different diameters that gives out different sounds. Usually some exhaust sounds can be a bit too loud. At least this gives the option of choosing how loud we want our exhaust to sound at throttle.

The pipe organ deal, is straight marketing. . .
Pipe organs sound is produced by vibration of the actual pipe, exhaust sound is not by pipe vibration.
The concept is more of a wave guide, and more along the lines of speaker tech.

What if i wanted to put two different tones, lower pitch in one pipe higher in the other, in a dual exhaust set up that harmonize? Would that sound any different or fuller than just the harmony happening in each pipe?

Can you add something to an already existing system? I have 1 7/8 lts and a true dual exhaust system w a x pipe on a ls1 trans am.......or would I have to just test a few out added into my system lol

Hello, thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, we do not currently plan to offer our Polyphonic Harmonizers are separate, universal products. They will only be found in select systems. Sorry about that.

@@borla I've been playing with stuff like this for the last few years in my shop. I even used 4-1 collectors turned backwards as tailpipes at one point , and it did have a unique , interesting harmonic value. So seeing something similar in your video is cool. I go back and forth between software simulation and pure experimentation. Both equally valuable. This is one of the highest orders of car nerdom.

Hi, thank you for watching! The pipe organ was invented in ancient Greece quite a while ago. It's at least two thousand years old!

Those welds look like trash. For the price you sell your products for, shouldn't the consumer be receiving quality all the way around?
