  • Witnessing this Grey Peacock Pheasant display dance from a hide near Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand, was a very memorable experience. I have visited these hides many times over the years and on a few occasions I have seen a Grey Peacock Pheasant, Polyplectron bicalcaratum, but this was the first time I had seen such a prolonged display dance from the male.

    I was there last week sometime had both male and female but came separately. So the footage of the displaying is very much appreciated.

      Beautiful indeed. However, the female was not impressed, she took a quick look and disappeared into the forest.

    What a wonderful bird.The feathers are amazing and it really is a case of less is more as the coloured high highlights on each grey feather create a sensational effect..As always perfect filming .Thanks Nick :)..

    Aaah... Nick! Consider my whole person green (i e jealous birder, stuck in Sweden, with no Thai visit plan in sight... My own fault, I've been hoarding money for a long Australia visit next autumn.)
    I loved how he hung on to that pea/bean(?) through almost the whole display. Dropped it, then picked it up and did a re-run, albeit shorter.

      Hehe, come to Thailand, February-April is probably the best time to have a chance of seeing this. Hope the Australia trip planning is proceeding well.

    Hello, I came to this video from the video of yours from the video when you found Indian nightjar in their day roosts. There is a really nice open area near my house in India which has a good population of these guys. I have seen many individuals at dawn and dusk but cant seem to locate them once the sun comes up. It's a large area and I'm not sure how far their roosting area usually is to places they forage in. Any tips to find them during the day would be appreciated. Thanks. Loved your videos :)

    • @BirdingwithNick
      @BirdingwithNick  Год назад

      Hi, I find that nightjars like roosting in dry areas, usually with some rocks and twiggy vegetation to remain undisturbed in. The location I found mine in is a wetland area and there is a small area of dry, rocky habitat where they rest during the day so it is fairly easy.
