      Hi, thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful. Yes, a great affordable Chromebook and would make sense for your use case. Watch out for the screen spec as I highlight in the video. Can you find the IPS screen options in your region? Two related videos that may be useful:
      1.) An update on Microsoft 365 integration in ChromeOS: ruclips.net/video/L8jScBBY73A/видео.html
      2.) If you need to check the exact spec of the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 you're looking at (or any other Lenovo): ruclips.net/video/dHgKl4eMwIA/видео.html

    Your video is wonderful and very thorough. If someone buys a version of the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook with the 1080p TN, is there anything missing on the GPU on the motherboard to drive the 1080p IPS version display if purchased as a replacement part to transplant it? Thank you!

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks, glad it was useful. Hmm, interesting question, I can't say I'm aware. Are you in that position? Maybe worth taking the slight extra hit and just buying the IPS one in the first place rather than risk it?

    Nice. Could you please suggest what should be the minimum processor I should choose in a chromebook for editing videos

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  4 месяца назад +2

      Hi, glad you like the video. For video editing on a Chromebook consider what app you will use, such as LumaFusion etc. I'd then be using the 'Chromebook Plus' spec and criteria which means at minimum an Intel Core i3 12th gen or AMD Ryzen 3 5000 series processor. Other relevant minimum spec for Chromebook Plus which may aid using a Chromebook to edit video include the fact it will also ensure you have a decent FHD IPS display and at least 128GB of storage. You can see my videos on Chromebook Plus models here: ruclips.net/p/PLNSLoCmFMc8qm1a5XOh5p3JMh4S2qPm6U I hope this helps, please do give the videos a like if useful and consider subscribing if you like Chromebook and ChromeOS content 👍

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  4 месяца назад +3

      @@SandeepKumarOfficial2020 Hi, if you need to look for something a little cheaper, I'd recommend look to see what prices you can see on Chromebooks with these processors:
      * Intel N100 (or better, the N200) - Chromebooks like the Lenovo Flex 3i 12.2 inch I have here - ruclips.net/video/nc6RMm7Z9JQ/видео.html and I'd highly recommend going for 8GB RAM like I have too.
      * Intel Pentium Silver N6000 - Chromebooks like the Acer Chromebook 315 I have here - ruclips.net/video/u0WtMTGv3Uo/видео.html and again, go for 8GB RAM like I have.
      You could also look to Chromebooks with the slightly older 11th or 10th Gen Intel Core i3 processors to see how they compare to the Chromebook Plus model specs you were looking at.
      You could then consider looking at the Lenovo from this video, but I'd imagine the processors above will be better suited to your needs. Also watch for the screen spec as I highlight.
      If you're looking to use some online editor like CapCut for basic videos, like Shorts, then these may be enough. Try and buy from somewhere you can return to if the Chromebook doesn't meet your requirements and expectations for video editing.

      @MergeDroid  17 дней назад

      Hi, thanks for checking the video. If you're not sure already I'd double check with the school that there's no software he'll need that isn't compatible with ChromeOS. I'd also say try and get one of the models with 8GB RAM like I have here. Double check the screen type too, as you see in the video here mine is TN rather than IPS. Likely not such an issue for your son, but for watching a lot of video and general use an IPS display will always be nicer. I'm not sure where you're based, but check if that option is available for you. This video might be handy to double check the config of the particular Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 you're looking at - ruclips.net/video/dHgKl4eMwIA/видео.html

      Hi, first check would be as to whether ChromeOS is right for their course, if they just need a web browser to access things and Android apps for example, they should be fine. If their course needs software that's only compatible with Windows or MacOS for example, obviously not.
      If that first check is passed and they prioritise portability and battery life, then this may not be a bad option, but they'd have to be happy with that TN screen (rather than an IPS one) - this may give more of an idea - ruclips.net/user/shortsv9-QOVEC4wU If they're likely to need something with a better IPS screen and perhaps a bit more power, it might be worth considering the Slim 3i (Intel based) Chromebook Plus I show in this video, full review: ruclips.net/video/DN8IGSkhMV4/видео.html or the ASUS CX34 Chromebook Plus: ruclips.net/video/O6w07enZFw4/видео.html

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  2 месяца назад +2

      Yeah you'll be better on this one than the Lenovo Ideapad 3i with the N4020, but still maybe you'd want a better screen? A beefier processor won't hurt, but this one will handle it. You can see how the games run in the video as I show them, like Real Racing 3.

  • @steveguy3
    @steveguy3 4 месяца назад

    Didn't see you touch on it, but does the screen have an ugly glittery effect to it? Mine has that and I'm not sure if it's a defect or just a cheap bad panel.

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi, see the timestamps to jump to specific topics in the video, but 2:47 explains the screen options available. You'll need to confirm which you have based on your exact model, this video will help you - ruclips.net/video/dHgKl4eMwIA/видео.html Let me know if you can confirm which display option you have, likely one of the TN options, but I wouldn't say 'glittery' to display how one normally looks, just a bit more washed out/dull. I compare IPS to TN here - ruclips.net/user/shortsv9-QOVEC4wU It might be you have the TN HD only (e.g. not FHD) option - but see if you can confirm based on what I've shared here. Hope it helps.

      @steveguy3 4 месяца назад

      @@MergeDroid I watched the video and I can't tell if it's visible, seems like something you have to see with the human eye.
      It's extra visible in videos where certain parts are bright and others dark, the white parts in the videos have the kind of shine you'd see in a metallic paint job on a car, quite distracting.

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  4 месяца назад +1

      @steveguy3 if when you're directly in front of the screen it seems OK, must a bit 'dull', but viewing angles and issues are worse from the side, then it's likely just the fact it's a TN panel and you're used to IPS? Might be worth seeing if you can see this Chromebook in store somewhere to see if it's the same as yours, if you're in the UK maybe your local Currys would have it or similar else where?

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  2 месяца назад +1

      For more everyday use for a fanless Chromebook, yes. If you plan on consuming a lot of media though I'd recommend an IPS screen, so compare to other Chromebooks including Chromebook Plus models - Chromebook Plus Playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLNSLoCmFMc8qm1a5XOh5p3JMh4S2qPm6U Similar if you want the baked in AI features that I've shown in my recent video - ruclips.net/video/txzgzwkuyLA/видео.html It will of course depend on budget and deals at the time too.
