Why? Look at the reflected light on the lugs and how it's all wavy. Case shape is much better on San Martin. Also the end link is a million times better. I've had $35 Subs with end link fitment like this Cronos.
Not just you, mate. FEMALE END LINKS ARE A GAME-CHANGER. The blue anti-reflective coating is nice, but I think under lighting, it makes the dial almost look dark blue! Another thing I'd like them to change - some clear AR coating, and more of it, like you say! But the applied logo and glidelock clasp are very nice additions. Nice one!

Great to see the review of the newer version on here. I bought mine about a month ago after they got rid of the date surround, and with the new applied logo. Hello, I received my Cronos 5 days ago and I love it! However one issue I have is that the bezel. It worked phenomenal out of the box and was my best dive bezel. But after a few days it got super gritty and hard to turn. The change was very noticeable. I ran it under some water and I cleaned it thinking the bezel was dirty. It worked even better after the clean but after a few hours it went back to being gritty and hard to turn again. I tried leaving it sitting in water for an hour, we will see. Any recommendations? Thanks
Can you please help me decide between this Cronos and the San Martin sn017 (or sn019). I like the Cronos because of the glidelock and full lume bezel but I hear San Marin is better. Please advise if the San Martin is substantially better.
Beautiful watch. How can one be sure of getting the improved glidelock clasp etc version if ordered from ali express? Do they offer a choice of movements? I thought the Selita was available on this model?

I think you were the one who recently showed AliExpress rubber straps in a Short? Those unfortunately don't have a description so I wanted to ask about the link...
Mine arrived yesterday (PT5000) and seeing how I only paid €175, including shipping and import into the EU, I'm very happy. Only real difference I can see to yours is the crown... the logo on mine protrudes from it, kinda like how Rolex put their coronet on their crowns. Earlier versions seem to have an etched/engraved logo there. One thing they didn't change seems to be the cyclops' AR-coating. It either has too little or the wrong kind, because there's nearly always a blue hue in that thing. Which cancels out the 2.5x magnification, because it's pretty hard to see the date clearly with all that stuff going on in the cyclops. No wonder Rolex use clear AR in their cyclops'. They might also have fiddled with the bezel, because yours seems a bit more click-y and a touch stiffer - though that's hard to tell from a video. The action on mine is almost too smooth and it doesn't completely "lock in" on its own. Once you get it where you want it, you need to rotate it clockwise into the stop to lock it in, but at least once you do that, it'll stay locked. One thing I really like about this thing is that, unlike San Martin on their SN 019, they didn't go nuts with the width of the male end-links. Total L2L on my Cronos, including the links, is 51.8mm according to my calipers, which means the watch doesn't look oversized or out of place on my 17cm wrist. So perhaps they changed that too ... or one of us took the wrong measurements... :D
Great review, I have the version 1 and prefer the script and logo. On the new version in your review the applied Cronos script just disappears much of the the time depending on lighting, which doesn’t happen on the version 1.
These are great watches. I have the sw200 version. I have the micro adjust buckle which is ok but could do with the glide lock. Can i ask where you purchased your buckle from and was it a straight forward swap over? Many thanks🙂

It seems to be the other way around, these days. My Cronos has 51.8mm effective L2L. I triple checked that measurement after checking this video again - and comparing his Cronos to mine visually, his end-links do seem to stick out quite a bit further. On mine (purchased mid June 2023), they barely protrude past the lugs. The current SN 019 OTOH has much wider end-links. Great review thanks. Just wish the new Cronos logo wasn't chromed. It looks nice in relief, but would look SO much better if it was plain white script, or slightly off-white so it didn't leap off the dial. Im super confused - the other guy over at watch reviews 4K has reviewed this watch last night and he’s gave it a right down the banks. Absolutely criticised it upside down. From the back play on the bezel action , lateral side to side play of bezel , the lack of 2.5 magnification , the clasp having a lack of engraved logo as it’s sterile , crown action being rough and critical of the overall price when pagani are giving signed logos for £80 watches. I’m not bothered about the logo on a clasp it’s negligible but the other points have made me wonder . He kept pushing the san martin sn019 as the better watch for a bit more as the crown ,bezel and date mag is better yet the review by Gary of I like watches he couldn’t disagree more that the better watch was the Cronos ? I’m absolutely befuddled
I don't have experience with the San Martin SN019, but based on my experience with a few of their others watches, I'm sure it'll be great though. As for this watch, yes the magnification could be slightly better. I personally don't mind the lack of logo on the clasp as it helps it to seamlessly integrate into the bracelet more I think. I don't have any back play in the bezel on mine. When it comes to overall build quality, this is far better than Pagani Design. Although I'd probably say it's just below the other San Martin watches I have. Hopefully that helps to clear things up a bit.
I haven't tried the San Martin, so can't really compare them. But the reason I went for the Cronos over it, is because of the movement. The San Martin only has an NH35, for the same kind of price.
Like so many sub homages also these lugs don’t slope down and the case is as flat as a brick, and wears just as ´elegant´ with a gap between your wrist and the case so big you’re afraid someone might fall in. This watch for looking at straight from above when it is not worn.

Yep. This and this and the new San Martin come ridiculously close for all intents and purposes, to matching the Submariner...... Minus the in house movement and any of the prestige.... Which is overrated in my opinion..... The prestige..... Not the movement or resale value. You'd be crazy to buy a real sub if it was just for the actual watch and not the statement. I'm just not sure I'm that into it..... Initial early fascination faded a while ago. Do subs even have AR coating yet? They never used to. They're obviously iconic and pretty....
Case shape isn't good. San Martin does a much better job there with sharper lines, closer to a real Sub. Also the end link fitment is very poor. Indices are too yellow in daylight. It's a no from me.
This Case is better, if you like horrible sharp edges of the San martin then fair play to you. Also the glidelock san martin have produced comes loose regularly. Cronos using ball bearing system. They have stepped up the quality where as san martin has not.

8:10 wow that male end link really sticks out far.. ideally it should be under 52mm...
Yeah that would be a lot better.
Is Cronos planning on offering this watch in 41 mm as San Martin has? As Rolex has.
Is there a version 3?
Not as far as I know.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Good. That means I bought version 2 :) Thank you for clearing that up.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR thanks that helps- thanks for replying 👍
@@bruh_oly1370 No problem at all. I'm here to help.
Awesome watch, looks great 🔥
Thanks 👍
Scratch it during the measurements those things are sharp.
I never thought of that, but that could be it maybe. Although mine are only plastic and not metal.
Great looking watch ☺️👍 Would you recommend it over the San Martin?
I haven't tried the San Martin, so can't really compare them. But the reason I went for the Cronos over it, is because of the movement. The San Martin only has an NH35, for the same kind of price.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Good point, plus it looks great. Thanks ☺️🤜🤛
Like so many sub homages also these lugs don’t slope down and the case is as flat as a brick, and wears just as ´elegant´ with a gap between your wrist and the case so big you’re afraid someone might fall in. This watch for looking at straight from above when it is not worn.
Can anyone recommend a dateless sub of this quality & similar price? Cheers
sure, the cronos no date sub!
Yeah Cronos do a no date version of this too.
Something on the case back like the steeldive watches use i think the plane case back makes the watch look and feel cheap🧐🇬🇧
Great review. This Cronos loos awesome. I wish it came with the SW200 instead of the PT5000. Thank you again for your great work 👍
They're basically the same movement. Both are clones of the ETA 2824.
They also have a sw200 version
@@jorgezaragoza7991 It's quite a bit more though, for basically the same movement I think.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR yeah I agree the pt5000 is a solid movement for about $100 less buying from the US
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR true but I just feel better with the SW200 under the hood...bonet? For my English friends .
Nice homage 👍
Thank you for the video. I like this one.
It's a lot of watch for not a lot of money isn't it?
Great review!
Thank you.
Waithing for the no date version

So you're looking for an old black bay

@@keyboard.grinder That's what I do in the newer videos now.
It's a good copy (homage is just a lie) and a good option for those who can't get a sub

Thanks I appreciate that 👍
San Martin SN019 all the way !
..my aspiedar is going "ping", am I right? ...takes one to know one :-)
I completely agree. I buy my watches to wear, not as investments that just sit in a box not being worn.
no external AR still because of scratching issues that plague Omegas
Ugh I want this so bad but I just know it’d be too big for my 6.5” wrists :(
Unfortunately I think probably would be a bit. Unless you don't mind wearing your watches a little big.
It’ll be fine.
OUAHH C EST AUSSI BIEN QUE SAN MARTIN
Oui, c'est juste là-haut avec le San Martin.
Ok fellas stop trying to justify not getting a Rolex Submariner
I'd never spend that kind of money on a watch. This is a really good, well made and reasonably priced watch. So, I'm more than happy to keep this.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR I know exactly what you mean you, I just came across a Cronos Sub for $300 at the same time I was looking for a Rolex Sub 15k AUD. How about the movements, inside the watch is it identical?
@@dlc85007 No the movements aren't identical.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR What are the ever-suttle differences if any between a Rolex sub and this?
I paid almost $400 nzd for one of these. It stopped working after approx 2 months. Even though Cronos give a guarantee card believe me, its worthless. They at Cronos take your money and won't back up their guarantee. DO NOT EVER BUY ONE OF THESE WATCHES. They are absolute rubbish
I'm sorry to hear that. Did it stop working completely, or was it just faulty?
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Apparently the main spring is faulty according to a watch repairer I took it to.
Because I didn't purchase it directly from the Cronos store but from one of their suppliers they refuse to do a thing about replacing it with one that works. Mine does still work but when I take it off my wrist it will stop after bout 30mins.
@@neilwilson5343 Have you tried contacting the place you bought it from then? Was it an AliExpress store?
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR. Yes I bought it thru Ali express. From a store called Hongyun Watch Store. They seem reluctant to do anything about it. So it seems I end up with a $400 Cronos Watch that doesn't work as it should.
@@neilwilson5343 What exactly did they say?
